I stayed at the Zevely for the first time a week ago. The pictures don’t do it justice. My room was incredible. Breakfast was delicious and there was plenty of food. Most of all, I was pleasantly surprised by Sherrie, the inn keeper who greeted me with warmth and kindness. Traveling alone can be scary, especially when you’re driving through severe storms. Sherrie sensed my anxiety and did everything possible to help me out. I highly recommend this inn and encourage anyone going through Winston Salem to drop in and go back in time to beautiful furnishings and true hospitality.

Our room was cozy, the bed comfortable. Sitting on 1 of 2 porches was peaceful and relaxing. We enjoyed our morning, after breakfast, conversations with the inn keeper, Cherie, immensely!! The homemade breakfast each morning was excellent!! And in addition, being history fanatics, the Old Winston-Salem walking tour was filled with an extensive amount of Moravian history, that we thoroughly enjoyed.

Absolutely fell in love with this sweet little bed and breakfast. The whole place was like stepping back in time. Beautifully decorated, comfortable, and don't get me started on the mattress. Best sleep I have had. Delicious little coffee shop/wine bar just a few doors down. Old Salem is just magic. The innkeeper was delightful. I feel I have made a friend for life. I can not wait to go back!

An exceptional B&B in a terrific location in Old Salem. The room was quite comfortable with some exceptional historical touches, and the breakfast was terrific. We definitely look forward to returning there next time we visit the city.

Booked for Valentine's day and we were greeted with some of the warmest service I've ever encountered. Beautifully maintained. Super cozy. Sherry made everybody a wonderful breakfast with heart shaped eggs benedict (divine!)

Can not say enough about how wonderful The Zevely Inn is and the Innkeeper Cherie! She did everything to ensure our stay was perfect! We stayed for 1 night for my wife's birthday and it was amazing. The room was beautiful, the breakfast was delicious. We will definitely be back soon and stay longer next time!

My husband and I had a brief, but wonderful, overnight stay. Cherie, the innkeeper, felt like family almost immediately. I stayed there before (years ago) but everything is fresh and new under her management. Such a warm and inviting environment, comfortable bed, meticulously clean everywhere, and the food was excellent! She prepared breakfast early for us (even gave me a coffee to go), so we could leave on time to pick up our daughter from Governor’s School in Greensboro. Can’t say enough good things about the quality of service and care given to us at the Zevely Inn!!! I would give it 6 stars, if I could. ⭐️❤️ We will definitely find reasons to come back.

We were really looking forward to staying at the Zevely, but unfortunately the inn keeper made this visit one we will never take again. She was unbelievably rude on all four of our interactions and each affront was for no perceptible reason. She was full of excuses (for being rude, for rooms not being ready) with accountability and common decency nowhere to be found. Unfortunately at this small Inn there is no one but her -- so beware and take your money somewhere else. The neighborhood was cute.

Yelp
My wife and I just spent this past weekend, October 16-18,2020, here for our anniversary and couldn't have been more pleased. The inn is a beautiful building with lots of character. Mrs. Sherri is a wonderful lady. We inquired about various local restaurants and shops, the places she recommended were wonderful. Despite COVID restrictions not allowing us to tour the inn or Old Salem didn't take away from our experience. Staying here was one of the most relaxing times we've had in years. Also the food was delicious.

Yelp
This place is better than I could have expected. It's been many years since I visited Old Salem but I remember the look and feel of the place as an authentic 18th-century town. The Zevely Inn has that look and feel and staying here made me feel like I was a resident of a living museum - such a special thing. If you've ever been to a place like, say, Williamsburg, and you wanted to know what it felt like to be one of those folks, living right in that environment - you should check out the Zevely Inn. I had the Winter Kitchen rooms with 4-poster bed and fireplace - just beautiful. Sat on the porch outside to have a beer in the evening, overlooking the lovely back yard covered with leaves, and the cool old houses next door. Can't wait to stay here again.

Yelp
I actually referred a few friends who were coming in from out of town to stay here. That was until last night when I saw a rude woman yell outside to a few people who were chatting at the inn across the street (it wasn't even 7pm) to be quiet. If I was driving by and saw this, I wonder what those people felt, they were gone a few minutes later. For all the charm and atmosphere of Old Salem and it being my favorite place to go when in Winston, this Inn is not charming at all. The woman was rude and so uninviting that I can only imagine what actual "guests" may feel. I actually went home and emailed my friends to have them change their booking to stay downtown Winston. A trip to the Tavern for dinner and the bakery but not a penny will be spent at the Inn.

Yelp
Locale is nice, room is large, bed was comfy, innkeeper was pleasant. But, these should be givens, yes? Bath was wretchedly small (in ours, and in several other rooms we inspected). Plumbing was reversed (hot/cold) in shower and staff initially refused to inspect ("we suggest you....blah blah blah"). Toilet and sink plumbing all needed immediate attention and repair. TV MUCH too small for location. Food selection often unhealthy, and basically unchanged four mornings running. Coffee was supermarket grade. No access to refrigerator on the floor ("WE are a BnB" was the explanation). Surly staff, four mornings running. A/C controls date from the '50s, it is either off on on; very nearly freeze or fry. The best feature probably is, the Tavern (five stars) directly across the street. Good thing, it's a 20 minute walk to any place else to eat.

Yelp
I chose this Inn because it was on my route from Asheville to Richmond, VA. The first inn keeper Linda was very nice and gracious. So we had a positive first impression. The town was charming & we loved walking around. The Tavern restaurant across the street was a decent place to dine & have a drink. When we got back from dinner however, the second inn keeper who takes over the night & early morning shift was the complete opposite of Linda. Cherie (spelling?) was not the least bit welcoming. She completely changed the feel of the place for us. The room we were in was very old with a tiny bathroom. Okay, I guess understandable going to an old town like Old Salem. We would have been ok if the AC was on. Apparently, the AC/heat is controlled by one thermostat. It had been cold the previous week, but by the time we got to the inn it was about 70 degrees. So while the heat was off, the AC was not turned on either. That unfortunately is a problem for my husband & I. After midnight it did finally cool off in the room with the windows open & we did end up sleeping ok, but the hours prior to that (between the heat & Cherie) put us off to our stay there. Especially after spending the 2 nights before at the beautiful Biltmore Inn in Asheville, NC. Complimentary breakfast was pretty good. (I would have liked it better if I didn't feel like an unwanted guest) So if you're staying here & like it cool in your room, make sure you inquire about the thermostat first. AND don't let Cherie ruin your mood. Not everyone's personality is pleasant. *one more footnote: you can hear everyone around you. The walls are thin, the floor boards crickety. So if you're a light sleeper, an early sleeper or a late riser, this place is not for you.

Yelp
This is by far my favorite bed and breakfast. The staff is very friendly and the rooms are wonderful. This is just a super cool place to stay. The little touches you get here, plus being in Old Salem makes for a great get away.

Yelp
The Zevely Inn is a very special and beautiful place that I can't wait to go back to. My husband and I just spent three days there for our anniversary. We were spoiled and pampered by the staff- Matt was very helpful in helping us choose a room making sure everything was ready when we got there, Q kept our room stocked and was always asking if we needed anything else, John kept things running smooth and was always ready to help and lastly, Harriet was the most caring and gracious host. She always asked about our likes and dislikes before the next breakfast and she is an awesome cook!! Quiche, fresh fruit parfaits with granola, pan fried potatoes, French toast, etc,, Not only is she a gourmet cook, but she can tell beautiful stories about the inn and the community! She wanted to make sure that every aspect of our stay was just right. We felt like family before we left! We will be back again to enjoy the peaceful tranquility of sittting on your wonderful porches and dreaming of what it was like to live in Old Salem. Thank you so much for your hospitality!

Yelp
It was nice but nothing special. Great location but I'd rather have stayed at a more commercial hotel chain for much cheaper. There's certainly not "hospitality." We felt very awkward walking in as one man helped us and the woman just stood there staring. There was no conversation of why are you in the area or anything at all pleasant. We weren't even offered to have our bags taken up the three flights of stairs or given a tour. The entire house smelled of bacon even at 4pm. I get it's a b&b but come on. The tv was so small and had horrible reception. The steamer and jacuzzi tub and blow dryer didn't work. Overall, not worth the money. If the staff would have been nicer then we could have overlooked a lot but all the flaws just kept piling up and was not worth what we paid for. Won't come again.

Yelp
This place is my number 1 choice when staying in Old Salem! The place is cozy and the rooms very comfortable! You can tell that the owner has impeccable taste. The furnishing and paintings are true to the overall look and historic feel of the place, but it also feels like a home! It's all in the details, folks! I thought the breakfast was delicious and very well served. The location is absolutely perfect and convenient to everything. I've been to a lot of B&Bs around the country and this one was one of the very best and most memorable experiences! Don't want to discard the other customer experiences, but they are from 3 years ago, so it looks like there were definitely some changes/updates made for the better since then.

Yelp
We love the Zeverly!! Been staying there since our son started college and have enjoyed it more and more each time. Innkeeper Linda and the rest of the staff are there to help with anything you need! Will keep visiting long after graduation!
