"A lacquered elephant by Theam After a cotton krama, a colorful lacquered elephant by the artisans at Theam's House has become the must-buy Siem Reap souvenir. Cambodian artist and designer Lim Muy Theam was the creative director of Artisans d'Angkor, the organization responsible for the revitalization of traditional arts and crafts in Cambodia, before leaving to open his own crafts atelier and art gallery in his beautiful home. Theam exhibits his own art in the gallery space near the entrance, and shows exquisite objects he has collected, from Buddha statues to antique musical instruments, in the small salas and main showroom. Most visitors are here to buy Theam's modern takes on traditional Cambodian arts and crafts, including lacquerware, painting and sculpture. Wander through the various rooms and you'll see artists and artisans at work out the back, doing anything from painting canvases to carving. Amongst other things, they'll be painstakingly painting and sanding the elephants that have become Siem Reap's must-have souvenir. Avoid buying the bad copies you see in the market - not only are these poor quality reproductions but they represent a loss of income to Theam and his artisans. Theam now has a couple of shops and his objects can be bought from other stores, but it's a real joy to visit Theam's House, where you might just find the artist at home. Tip: it's tricky to find. If your tuk tuk driver doesn't know it, call Theam's House and they'll explain or they'll send you a driver."
Theam’s Gallery in Siem Reap is an absolute gem — a must-visit for anyone who appreciates art, culture, and beautiful spaces. From the moment I stepped in, I was impressed by the layout and atmosphere. The gallery is much larger than I expected, with plenty of space to explore and discover unique works at every turn.
There’s an incredible collection of paintings and sculptures on display, each with its own character and charm. Many of the pieces are bold, vibrant, and full of meaning — it’s clear a lot of thought and creativity has gone into curating the exhibit. What really surprised me was how the entire gallery felt like one big, immersive art piece. It’s not just a place to view art — it’s an experience in itself.
The wooden architecture and cozy interior design add to the gallery’s warm, welcoming vibe. It’s also a fantastic spot for taking photos, with beautifully designed corners and peaceful garden areas that make for a perfect backdrop. Whether you're an art lover or just looking for a quiet, inspiring place to explore in Siem Reap, Theam’s Gallery is well worth your time.
I highly recommend stopping by — it’s a refreshing change of pace and one of the highlights of my visit.

This place is just wonderful. It is more cultural history museum than gallery. An awesome display of artifacts, musical instruments, house styles, art and much more in a truly amazing setting. Don't miss it!

I feel like not enough people know about this place but it’s such a treasure and SO worth visiting. We arrived and were talked through everything, given a whole tour for free. The complex is so much bigger than we imagined and absolutely stunning. So so worth going to

I was skeptical this would be worth it since the description is a private art gallery, but I absolutely loved this place. Such a serene and beautiful oasis just outside of town. It's a fantastic experience to roam around and enjoy the art ambiance. Behind Angkor Wat, this has been my favorite thing in town.
