The place where I have seen Helmuth Lohner in his best role of John Gabriel Borkman.
This time I have gone here to see Brechts play The Threepenny Opera.
Just love this place, build and compound with such important theater history.
For me this place is better than Burgtheater.

Founded in 1788, it is Vienna’s oldest continuously operating theater, known for its productions of Austrian and German-language drama. Its intimate setting and Baroque-style interiors make it a key institution in Vienna’s performing arts scene.

amazing expirience, the workers helped us find out seats and the translations in the little ipads for the french play were very helpful! there is VERY little leg room in the private areas you can rent and the buffet is sadly closed right after the show

One of Vienna's traditional, highly respected theatre stages in the middle of the noble Josefstadt district, offering German-language acting at the highest level in a historic building. A real institution with an international reputation!

Der deutsche mittagstisch was fantastic and well played. I love how intimate the stage is. Unlike other theather designs, this particular one brings you closer with the performers.

I always enjoy visiting this theater, which, by the way, is owned by a private foundation. The air is regal, but not so the plays, they are rather modern, or old friends in new guise.
Hint: If you are a student, you can get a VERY good deal on your tickets if you book up to 3 days in advance.
