It was very cool staying in an old historic hotel!||We stayed in one of the historic suites in the building labeled "Bank of New Zealand". The large suite was filled with antiques, which was very fitting and cool, and had a small fridge (although the freezer compartment would not freeze more than one small tray of small ice cubes) and a small microwave.||The draperies are very thick old velvet curtains, and the thick carpet is also indicative of a historic hotel, thus, it smelled moldy when we entered. We did get used to the smell, but definitely noticed it each time that we left and returned to the room. Also, the wrought-iron chairs on the back deck were nice, but one of the two was rusting.||The bed was fine and we got a decent night's sleep.|If you want to stay in an authentic historic hotel, and do not need "luxury" accommodations, The Theatre Royal would be a good place for you.
