25 Best Places to Visit in Germany

"Europe’s largest thermal-bath complex, housed under a glass-ceilinged structure that feels like a rainforest greenhouse and offers year-round warm-weather ambiance; attractions range from giant water slides, a wave pool and lazy river popular with families to a separate adults-only spa and sauna area, along with daily activity programs like exercise classes and guided meditation." - Lindsay Cohn Lindsay Cohn Lindsay Cohn is a writer, editor, and avid traveler who has visited 45 countries across six continents — and counting. Together with my husband we booked a ticket for all areas included one month in advance and we went at Therme on 28 of July, on Monday. It appeared to be a big challenge, since it was overcrowded on a week day and not vacation time for the region of Bavaria. Another unpleasant thing was the fact that we asked for towels to rent (as it was said in the official page that they provide it with money) and the reception said very calm that they were out of. They didn’t even find a solution while we came without anything as it was said we can rent it there. The struggle continues when you are inside and you don’t have any free bad where to rest (all have a towel on it as a sign of “occupied”). Last thing which I want to point out it is the unprofessional staff at the info point at the slides area. The boy from there just came to me to say that is not allowed to take videos, and I said when it is written or where is the sign for forbidding this? But he just said is not allowed. As per law when you face the costumers you should be prepared to give them reasons and have facts with written and visible (what is allowed or not). This sign or rule was in some areas and it was shown, but not at the slides area. For what you pay and for a good quality, I expect also a very well prepared staff, especially to be there as a facilitator not as a burden. Anyhow, the place was nice from varieties that offers but it was impposible to use it because of overcrowding in every area.

The Staff at the cashier was not really friendly. The Staff inside was super nice and friendly. Enough Parking space and E parking also available. But be aware. Charging your Car is a huge scam! Dont charge your car unless you want to pay 3 times higher blocking fees than charging!! The changing area is super clean and very good! But: The regular space area was super crowded and some area smelled super "funny". I was really shoked by the amount of people during a weekday. So I moved to the Vital Oase as it says only above 16 allowed. But also here super crowded and a lot of younger people inside despite the official "only above 16". So moved again, this time to the nude area and that was the area which was really chilly. The only place I would recomment if you want to relax and have some space for yourself. Sauna, and Champagne Pool was awesome and enough space for seating available. But all in all I wouldnt recomment for such pricings.

Therme Erding – A Full-Day Wellness & Cultural Experience Visiting Therme Erding is not just a spa trip – it’s a window into German bathing culture. Whether you’re a first-time visitor or a returning guest, this massive thermal complex offers a fascinating blend of relaxation, health, and cultural immersion. What I appreciated most was the freedom of choice. You can opt for textile (swimsuit) zones or the non-textile (nude) areas in the saunas, which are an integral part of the German experience. Even if you're not yet ready to embrace that cultural element, you’ll still find plenty of comfortable, well-equipped zones to enjoy in your own way. I purchased a full-day ticket, and it was worth it. There are several decent restaurants and drink bars inside, and the space is large enough to spend a whole day moving between pools, reading, and taking quiet moments to reflect. One of the highlights was swimming outdoors while it was around 0°C – the contrast of cold air and warm thermal water was unforgettable. 🧭 Practical tip: From the nearest bus stop, it’s about a 15-20 minute walk to the entrance. Follow the pedestrian signs and you’ll get there easily.

Rip off!!! They market themselves as a huge water slides park. In fact there are not that many. The place is very outdated. All outdoor slides close at 6pm and only the indoors remain open till later. Park is extra busy and is built around charging your wrist band everywhere. Pool bars, stands, restaurants. The food is pretty basic and not that tasteful but the prices are ridiculously expensive. Over 5 eur for a coke. 5.5 eur for a small slice of Margherita pizza. Do not pay for the reservation fee (I wasted 3 euro per person for no reason). They would not refund it. It’s just not needed and a ways for them to further cheat. The bottom line is that I would skip this place and look for better water parks with normal pricing.

The rides were really fun and my teens love it! The place was huge and there were slides for all levels of tolerance. The changing rooms and toilets were clean. At first, I was worried about the food choices, but, the food wasn't bad and the servings were generous. I hope oir family could go back!

Galaxy Erding, the water slide and adventure section, is a highlight for children and adults alike. The slides are diverse and thrilling, although queue times can be long during peak hours. This, coupled with the relatively high admission cost, especially for larger families, can make the experience feel slightly less accessible for some.

The facility is large – there’s truly something for everyone. There are many pools, great slides, and a wide variety of saunas. The food selection is also sufficient. No cash is needed inside – everything is recorded on a wristband (chip) and paid for upon exit. Unfortunately, it was far too crowded. We were there at the end of July, and by the time we entered at 9 a.m., there were no free loungers left – larger families had almost no chance. The slide area was extremely overcrowded; it was hard to even move through the crowd. For most slides, there were long waiting times. I can highly recommend the Vital Oasis (for an extra charge of €8). Admission is only allowed from age 16. It’s much quieter there, with more and more comfortable seating, its own outdoor area, as well as additional pools and saunas that are only accessible to guests who’ve paid the extra fee. Despite the crowds, we really enjoyed our visit. I would definitely go again – but not during the summer holidays, and generally not when school is out.

I visited Therme Erding with my family to enjoy the Galaxy Rutschenwelt. It was surprisingly busy for a weekday outside of Bavarian school holidays — some slides had 30-minute queues. I couldn’t go on the Black Mamba as the line never got shorter. The wristband system is always a highlight, easy for payments and lockers. The service was also excellent, the staff were very kind, helpful, and seemed genuinely good at their job. Unfortunately, the big wave slide, which for me is the main attraction, remained closed all day, which was disappointing. Still, we had lots of fun on other slides like the Wild River and Magic Eye. We came by public transport, and the bus from Altenerding S-Bahn station was quick and easy. Overall, despite a few issues, it’s a fun and well-run place that I’d still recommend.
