We visited the pagoda during the 5 day Reunification day labor day public holidays. Reached there by grab car. It was pretty hard to climb those steep stairs with overwhelming crowds. Free entry. Beautiful garden, well maintained. The seven-storey pagoda is very photogenic. The view of Perfume (Huong) river is breathtaking. We walked back to the city enjoying the long beautiful riverside park path.

If you are in Hue don’t miss this place. We visited it around sunset in April and the pagoda with the garden around it was gorgeous, like a paradise. No entrance fee, easy to take good pictures. Also we didn’t know but locals tend to meetup around this area (we went on sunday, I don’t know if they also do this during weekdays). They were so lovely the way they bring their tiny chairs, food stands and started to gather, eat, paddle of the river etc. It was a lovely experience. In the end we went back to the center with a dragon boat, it was relaxing.

A Serene and Majestic Experience” Visiting Thien Mu Pagoda was a highlight of my trip to Hue. The pagoda’s towering presence against the backdrop of the Perfume River is breathtaking. The surrounding gardens and the tranquil atmosphere make it a perfect spot for reflection and photography. I recommend visiting early in the morning to experience the site in peace and to capture the soft morning light.

Beautiful location, beautiful pagoda! This pagoda is located on the road right against the Perfume River in such a scenic spot. It’s impressive when you walk up the steep steps to this towering pagoda and the grounds behind it are also lovely. In the back of the property There is a bonsai garden m, a small forest of trees in grass and a beautiful Japanese style garden with a lovely clean koi pond. It’s really pretty.

A pleasant building to visit, with a nice view over the river. In addition to the pagoda, there are a few other historical things to see, such as a stele/tablet, an ancient bell, and some statues - each with a little description. At sunset, a few lights turn on to nicely illuminate the pagoda. Behind the pagoda, there is a Buddhist temple grounds that we were able to walk around.

Please note that I visited in the evening, hence why I cannot comment on the grounds around the pagoda (other reviews note that the grounds are worth visiting too), however, the pagoda is beautifully lit up at night. Worth visiting! Plenty of vendors around to buy a drink or something to eat, and you can catch a boat again back to Hue, if you'd like. I was offered to hop on for 100000 dong. I didn't pay a fee to walk around the pagoda, I'm unsure whether there's a payable fee during the day to visit the pagoda and surrounds.

We strolled at a leisurely pace across the area, and I really appreciated how it felt that nature was taking over some sections, like the flower patches around the trees. We also liked this path formed at the end, around the forest, where we could look at and admire the view of the cemetery and rice fields behind the pagoda. The place overall had a beautiful and contemplative atmosphere that I would recommend to anyone in Hue. It is not far from the city center as well. Biking to here, along the river, should be a pleasant experience, although there is a construction at one point along the road at the moment.

Lovely historic site and place of worship with lots of pic opportunities. Behind the main structure are beautiful feng shui gardens that are worth the stroll.
