Thingholt by Center Hotels (Reykjavik, Iceland) 2 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"They’re not kidding when they say “Center Hotels.” Thingholt — or Þingholt, if your display settings are up to date — is set just off the Laugavegur shopping avenue, and a few blocks over from the Austurvöllur Square. It’s set in an industrial building from the Forties, renovated in a minimalist, largely monochrome modern style by the Icelandic-born, L.A.-based Gulla Jónsdóttir. Along with 52 swanky rooms and suites it’s got a full-featured day spa and a stylish lounge — and while there’s no restaurant in-house, the surrounding neighborhood comes generously supplied, including several at the other nearby Center Hotels properties." - Tablet Hotels

What an amazing hotel and amazing staff. They made our honeymoon trip truly so special. The location right in downtown Reykjavík is so convenient, with so much to do within walking distance. The hotel is also very beautiful and clean. We booked the honeymoon package and they went all out, it was so awesome. All the staff was amazing but just to shout out a couple people in particular - Artur helped us out at the bar and he was so kind and great to chat with. Irene from the front desk was emailing with me ahead of time and she was so helpful and nice. I would recommend this place to anyone interested in visiting Iceland.

We booked this hotel to stay in for our 10 year wedding anniversary and it was in a good location, nice rooms and we had a nice sweet treat waiting for us when we checked in which was a nice surprise. The staff though were not exactly over welcoming and not many smiles or hellos when going through reception. Other than this I would say it was a good stay, the hotel does not look great from the outside but inside is very nice.

So close to everything great location and lovely room with everything you need! Boujee on a budget! Artur was so friendly and helpful and also want to recommend our favorite concierge of all time CHRIS, who was amazing and so helpful! Like a friend from home and great to talk to. We looked forward to coming back to the hotel to come and see her. Will miss her when we go 🫶

Here is the review we shared with Hotels.com||||First of all let me say the staff at the Pingholt Hotel was fantastic, very friendly and accommodating. Especially, Hellena who was quite charming and helpful. Also the Breakfast Buffet was quite nice with a nice variety of dishes and all very fresh. Though it can be crowded at times.||||We chose the Pingholt because of its location right in the Old Town District of Reykjavik, and because of all the pretty pictures we saw on their website and on Hotels.com. However Pictures can be deceiving. The hotel prides itself as a “Boutique” hotel, which we found out in their case means, very low beds (about 14 inches off the floor) making it very difficult for our mid to late 70’s bodies to get in and out of bed. The beds were comfortable though. ||||The bath had no counter space for meds, toiletries, cosmetics, etc. We ended up using the ledge of the bathtub as a counter. The shower curtain of the open shower does not extend to the floor, so needless to say water flows out onto the floor.||||Though the lighting was better than many of the hotels we have been in lately, it was somewhat glary from some unusual fixtures on the ceiling and especially on the desk, it did no good at all on the desk. The safe is situated about 6 and a half feet off the ground makes it a challenge for those height impaired.||||So if you are young and able and traveling light this is a very nice hotel. If you are older and prefer a bed about chair height the Pingholt has some disadvantages. Pingholt and Hotes.com might consider a statement regarding bed height and older folks. Had room comfort been better we would have given a 5 Star Review.

Everything about this hotel was perfect: ultra-comfortable beds, stylish decor, and top-quality amenities like the coffee machine and toiletries. The service was fantastic. Despite detailed Rejkyavik parking information online, we still faced confusion and unexpected charges. A simpler, more straightforward parking map would be greatly appreciated. Overall, an amazing stay!

My wife and I enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The room was clean and spacious. We loved the buffet breakfast which has lots of different choices. We also had a lovely drink at the bar. Staff was helpful, welcoming, and professional. They even helped arrange our airport transportation. The location is within walking distance of many shops, restaurants, bars, and attractions. The only negative was lack of blackout curtains which is an issue in July when the sun barely sets. Luckily I had an eye mask but my wife wasn't as lucky. I would stay here again though. We cannot wait to come back to Iceland!

The apartment was at the center of Reykjavik. Right next to Laugavegur Street with many restaurants and shops. ||The apartment itself was great with a bathroom, laundry washer, full kitchen, one bed and a sofa bed. It was very clean. The rate included breakfast across the street at the Thingholt (Pingholt) Hotel. Both locations managed by Center Hotels.||I would not hesitate in booking this apartment again.

It's a great hotel in an amazing location. Our apartment was smaller than the pictures made it look, but cute. It even had a washer/dryer combo that wasn't in the original information about the room. The hotel staff across the way were friendly and helpful. It's only two minutes from a bus stop for tour pick-ups. Again, the location can't be beat!
