Thingholt by Center Hotels (Reykjavik, Iceland) 2 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"They’re not kidding when they say “Center Hotels.” Thingholt — or Þingholt, if your display settings are up to date — is set just off the Laugavegur shopping avenue, and a few blocks over from the Austurvöllur Square. It’s set in an industrial building from the Forties, renovated in a minimalist, largely monochrome modern style by the Icelandic-born, L.A.-based Gulla Jónsdóttir. Along with 52 swanky rooms and suites it’s got a full-featured day spa and a stylish lounge — and while there’s no restaurant in-house, the surrounding neighborhood comes generously supplied, including several at the other nearby Center Hotels properties." - Tablet Hotels

Great hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was very good. Rooms smallish but decent enough. Just be aware that it's in a busy area so can be a bit noisy at night, especially if the local bars have live music. So if peace and tranquility is your top priority, you might want to look elsewhere.

We are a family of 5 so we had to find a place to accommodate all of us since most hotels have a max of 4. I chose these apartments because of their location and price. We went on a big eurotrip and this location and apartment were our favorite! We were all very impressed with the actual location, the staff and our accommodations. The room was well equipped and the beds extremely cozy! We plan to visit Iceland again and will definitely choose to stay here again.

Þhingholt is a gem of a boutique hotel that offers the quality you’d expect from a Center Hotel. Fantastic location close to everything, set on a quaint side street (but warning: late-night weekend bar/club spillover noise). Photos online are true to the decor and atmosphere. Exceptional staff, very clean rooms, a good breakfast, and a great spa. The welcome plate was lovely, and the ability to visit spas at other Center Hotels an unexpected treat. I’ll definitely be back.

What an amazing hotel and amazing staff. They made our honeymoon trip truly so special. The location right in downtown Reykjavík is so convenient, with so much to do within walking distance. The hotel is also very beautiful and clean. We booked the honeymoon package and they went all out, it was so awesome. All the staff was amazing but just to shout out a couple people in particular - Artur helped us out at the bar and he was so kind and great to chat with. Irene from the front desk was emailing with me ahead of time and she was so helpful and nice. I would recommend this place to anyone interested in visiting Iceland.

If you’re like me and spend hours researching accommodation — making sure it’s clean, well-located, good facilities, offers good food etc then look no further. This hotel is the one!||It may seem unassuming from the outside, but inside it feels like a warm, calm haven. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is smart without being pretentious, and we felt comfortable from the moment we arrived.||The location is perfect: just around the corner from the main sights of town, so you can step right back into the heart of the action within moments. When you’re only visiting for a few nights, that convenience is invaluable. There are plenty of shops, restaurants, and pubs within a minute’s walk, and it’s an easy stroll to the pick-up points for local tours and the bus stop if you’re exploring on your own.||With food being so expensive in Iceland, the hotel included breakfast is a real highlight — a generous spread of pastries, porridge, a full English, fruit, yogurts, fish... and unlimited tea, coffee, hot chocolate, and juice.||I recommend this hotel highly to tick all the boxes!

Visiting from Las Vegas, NV./World travelers. First time visitors to Iceland. First off the staff: I told them it was my wife's birthday and they went out of their way to make her welcome special and unique. Balloons, pastries, and a hand written card wishing her a happy birthday. They made me look like the husband of the year. Cannot thank them enough. Throughout our stay their kindness and good attitude never stopped. Helpful in every capacity. Secondly, our room: We reserved the suite with the downstairs living room area. Room was very clean. Smelled good. Decor was tasteful. Slippers and robes for 2 in the closet. Has a safe and a fridge. No microwave. But that was ok. The room was very comfy and welcoming. As was the rest of the hotel. Third, Food: Breakfast buffet did not disappoint. Some people say in their reviews the description is misleading about it. I don't know what their problem is but they were either blind or so dang picky they went looking for stuff to complain about. Great taste and all freshly made that morning. Forth, Location: We were literally in the heart of everything and anything you could want to do and enjoy for food, bars, and shops. Short walks to many of the best parts of the capital or a quick can ride if it was too cold or windy. Overall: 5 stars! Hands down. A great place to stay and worth every cent. Much appreciation to the staff. Well done. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat. PS: Best part was we were blessed to see the Northern lights from our bedroom window. Which is why we came to Iceland to begin with. It was the final touch to make our stay a wonderfully memorable experience.

I stayed in Room 102 and had a terrible experience. The room sits directly above a nightclub, and the noise was relentless until the early hours. I was never informed of this when booking — the room was completely mis‑sold.||When I complained at reception, I was told I should “consider myself lucky” the club didn’t go until 5am, as apparently it sometimes does. That is not acceptable customer service. The hotel refused to take responsibility, despite me raising the issue both in person and through emails afterwards.||This company misleads guests, sells rooms without disclosure, and then denies accountability. If you value sleep, honesty, and basic respect, be very careful before booking here.
