It is without a doubt one of the finest Thai restaurants I have ever visited and a highlight of my stay at The Peninsula Bangkok. Highly recommended.

Positives staff are charming. Location is beautiful on the river, apart from the irritating party boats blasting out terrible music and going by every few minutes till 22.30! We had the Thai tasting menu, we were really excited to have a taste experience! It’s around £50 a head. Amuse bouche was some popodoms and dips (hardly a sophisticated offering), followed by what sounded amazing on the description but was like sawdust wrapped in leaves. Then the aubergine pork dish, which was overpowerly tasting of lime and not much else. Very little pork in there in relation to the vegetables, then the soup, sour, limey and a couple of tiny pieces of fish, not much bigger than a sugar cube that were dry as cardboard. Again all you got was lime. Then a lamb curry, which was a case of find the lamb, a couple of small pieces in a sea of pretty ordinary curry sauce. Then the coconut ice cream and sticky rice which was fine but nothing special. The bill with one bottle of wine (one of their most inexpensive) and water came to £200 for 2. I don’t mind paying that for a good meal, but it was far from that. I also don’t like giving a negative review. But this is a big hotel and projects a fine dining image, and it should be called out. It’s a warning to other potential diners. And a chance for the kitchen to look at what they’re serving! It was by far the worst meal in our two weeks in Thailand.

We had a SENSATIONAL team dinner last night at Thiptara! Firstly, the venue is stunning as it hugs the side of the river and sheltered by beautiful trees. Service was phenomenal and I don’t think my glass was ever empty. Finally, the food served as part of a set menu was incredibly delicious. We worked our way through all courses and could not fault a single one

Excellent, beautiful table under the Banyan Tree tripped in lanterns by the river. Wonderful welcome by friendly staff. Starters amazing, main course of duck leg curry and beef green curry spectacular if slightly lite on the beef..... Highly recommend

The dishes are all above average—tasty and visually appealing, though none are particularly outstanding or worthy of top ratings. This outdoor restaurant is part of The Peninsula Bangkok, situated right by the river, with background music featuring guzheng performances, creating a calm and pleasant atmosphere. The service is attentive as well. Both the Mandarin Oriental and Shangri-La, located across the river, also have similar riverside restaurants.
