The food was absolutely delicious. The outside area with the fire pit was a cool vibe. Plenty of seating inside with tvs all over. We ordered a variety of apps, meals, and drinks and can’t complain about any of it. Definitely recommend the Brussels sprouts as a starter.

Food is always good, I have not had anything that didn’t taste good. Poke stack is one of our favorites. Drinks are on point Rylin is the nicest and most pleasant bartender we have met so sweet and amazing drinks love our Martinis 🍸 We had a food and drink day for my sister birthday and all of a sudden you see a manager come out with ice cream and wish her a Happy Birthday with a card, little did Billie know we had such a bad experience earlier and that act of kindness made my sister very happy. Thank you Billie and Rylin! Great experience and amazing team! Of course we will be back.

We've been coming to Thirsty Lion since this location opened. They updated their loyalty program and frankly it's made us come to any of the locations less (they no longer give you rewards for visiting). Their happy hour has remained solid throughout the years in terms of standard times (daily 3p-6p). Food & drink prices (everywhere) have increased. Their food quality overall has been consistent and I personally like the monthly menu on top of the standard menu.

A very good variety of beers including local and draft. I really enjoyed the beer. There aren't many vegetarian dishes at this restaurant. But they can substitute beyond patties.

Nice menu with very good service. Laid back ambiance. We eat clean and asked them to cook our food in olive oil which they were very respectful of. A very nice establishment though certainly nothing extraordinary.

Google
This was mine and my wife’s first time here and it was amazing. It took I bit to get seated but it was worth it. The food is amazing. Very friendly staff. Will be back here.

We had lunch at the Thirsty Lion, and it was amazing. Our waitress was super attentive taking extra care to ensure the allergen was not on my plate! the drinks were delicious as well. Restaurant was very clean and spacious.

Google
Food was not visually appealing but it actually tasted pretty good. I got the Irish Shepherd's Pie and a classic mojito. Would recommend both. Service was great. Would definitely return.

Yelp
I've been to the Thirsty Lion before. The night I went I sat at the bar and was able to watch MNF and the World Series. I missed Happy Hour by a couple of minutes so my two beers were $16. My fish n' chips were $20. With tip this was a $50 night Food was great. Nice ambiance. Pricey

Yelp
What happened?? This used to be in the regular rotation of restaurants for us. Tonight was a complete disappointment. Every person's food was either incomplete, or incorrect. The prime dip was served without horseradish, leaving hammered meat and cheese so bad the au jus couldn't save it. The sautéed Brussels sprouts tasted like frozen grocery store sprouts, and looked like they'd never hit a sautée pan. The Gastropub burgers had mayonnaise in place of horseradish (were they out and thought we wouldn't notice? Another entree was missing a side, and the fries tasted like they were still frozen in the middle soggy and overly salted. Extremely disappointing considering this was a meal we looked forward to often, and would generally have near the top of the list for visiting family. We finished the meal with a brownie, and it too tasted sub-par, and more like the one you'd get in a Swansons TV dinner in the '90s.

Yelp
My book club meets at this restaurant. The wait staff is always super kind and accomodating. I usually order a glass of wine, the list here of by-the-glass is small but with some quality selections. They have a happy hour menu. Several members of my club love the tacos and the sushi rolls. I like to order from the seasonal menu, thereby insuring that I can always try something new alongside that month's book selection. There is tons of parking. Reservations are accepted (a must have for a large group), they are usually not necessary if you are a small party, the place is huge. The outdoor seating is nice in the cooler weather.

Yelp
I came here with a friend, and we started with the artichoke dip and veggies--it was so good we demolished it in no time. I ordered the turkey club, and it really hit the spot! The service was okay; maybe the server was just having an off day. Either way, it's not going to stop me from coming back.

Yelp
We recently visited Thirsty Lion and overall had a pleasant experience. The food was good. I tried the Romano Chicken and it was flavorful and well-prepared. The portion sizes were generous, making it a great value for the price. As for the drinks, they were just okay. I sampled a couple of cocktails, but they didn't quite hit the mark for me. They tasted a bit watered down, which was disappointing considering the vibrant atmosphere of the place. We were there during AZ Restaurant Week, so we tried the 3 course meal for $33 special menu had enough variety to keep us happy. The service was friendly and attentive, which added to the overall enjoyable vibe. If you're looking for a solid meal in a lively setting, Thirsty Lion is worth checking out, but I'd suggest going for food over specialty drinks.

Yelp
Ran in here for some quick appetizers before a movie. It was quite empty for a Thursday night, but well lit and inviting. Ordered some fries, spinach dip and Caprese flatbread. The fries were fresh and came with ketchup and aioli sauce. The Caprese was tasty and actually had a peppery kick! The spinach artichoke dip was not well made, unfortunately, and the chips were also stale. We politely stacked it in the corner of our table and our waitress, Hannah, took it off the bill without saying anything or making a big deal. Her customer service actually yields the 5 star review as it's so rare to have exceptional service in AZ. She was so friendly and accommodating. I'd recommend going to try some food and asking to be seated in her section!

Yelp
A few friends and I stopped by for a quick bite before catching a movie at Harkins. Right off the bat, the manager, who was super polite, greeted us at the door and made sure we were seated right away. Props for efficiency! Our server showed up all bubbly and friendly, immediately taking our drink orders while we stared at the menu like it was a tough life decision. There were so many good options! After much internal debate, I went with the Rueben with fries, but I couldn't resist ordering the Traditional Scotch Eggs as an appetizer. I mean, who wouldn't be intrigued by something a Scottish friend raved about? When the Scotch Eggs showed up, they looked amazing - two eggs, sliced up and served with a side of course-ground brown mustard. I tried one without mustard, and it was delicious. Then I dipped it in mustard... and boom, flavor explosion! Seriously, what kind of magic is this mustard doing?! Not long after, our mains arrived. The Rueben was a solid choice - everything balanced perfectly, no soggy bread in sight (thankfully). But the fries? Ehh... not my favorite. They had this weird sweetness, which made me think that Yukon Gold potatoes were involved. Next time, I'll probably skip 'em and save room for more Scotch Eggs. Our server was awesome too - she checked on us regularly and threw in some light chit-chat, which kept things fun. With so many more things on the menu I'm dying to try, I'll definitely be back for round two!

Yelp
This location serves raw meat. Dangerous and inedible. Management was extremely dismissive. This location is unsafe.

Yelp
We have not eaten here since about 2019 and decided to stop by for lunch since we were out and about. The service was excellent. My husband had the Brussels sprouts, quinoa & roasted chicken salad and I had the Grilled burger sliders which were very good. For drinks, he had the beer flight, and I tried the Blood orange margarita. The margarita was outstanding! The restaurant is very well kept and clean, and I love the ambience of it. It wasn't too loud like most places are. I recommend giving it another try especially if you haven't been back in a while.

Yelp
Literal cockroaches were running underneath our table. To say that our trip to Thirsty Lion was not a success would be putting it mildly. As we walked in the front door, there was a cockroach on the waiting area seat. I quietly pointed it out to the hostess who shrieked and ran away. The cockroach took off and ran under the chair. It was Friday night and our choices were slim plus I'm a city girl - I can handle one cockroach. What I cannot handle several cockroaches running under our table throughout the meal. I was with eight other friends who had their feet up on their chair and their purses in their laps. The food was only fractionally better than the ambience. They must not have changed the oil in a while, so anything fried including the hot chicken sandwich was burnt and tasted like burnt oil. We decided to just take the L, pay our bill, and get the heck out of there. I definitely would not return.

Yelp
I went here for breakfast and got the bourbon waffles with bourbon syrup. Legit got a touch buzzed. Wtf. Really? Kids liked their food (rare) and the wife didn't complain either (also rare). The service was pretty decent. Never left hanging. Never an empty drink. Food came out fast. Place is pretty cool. The parking is a little wonky, but whatever. Ive been to other locations at other times and the normal menu was pretty massive. Food was good as well. I'm sure the same here but for this review it was a brunch menu.

Yelp
This night was great. We were picking up family from the airport so decided to go have a few drinks and an appetizer while we waited for the plane to come in. The service was great and attentive. We were only there a short time. After picking the family up at the airport, we convinced them to give it a shot so we returned to the restaurant for more drinks and dinner. As expected, the service (different waitress) was just as great. The pork carnitas tacos were amazing!!! The restaurant was kind of loud but still manageable. This is the second location we have tried of this restaurant and definitely not disappointed!! Well done guys

Yelp
This was my first time coming here as my colleagues organized a get together and lots of laughter entailed when I said I have never had a Shepherd's pie before. The restaurant has a special menu for St Patrick's day right now so when I saw that I thought I might try it with my colleagues encouragement. To my surprise they also went and ordered the same!Despite our laughter throughout this experience, I'd say I was able to eat some of it but I don't think this is something I will ever want to eat again unless I had too. It had a comforting feeling kind of meal and came served on a cast iron round pan, pretty service, a nice one-time experience for me. My iced tea was great! The restaurant itself has a nice atmosphere, nice ambiance with a large patio outside as well. Great experience!

Yelp
Food here was delicious! Service from my waitress Carly was wonderful. I asked to be seated outside with the fireplace and they were happy to accommodate my request. Ample parking as this is in a shopping complex. Lots of restaurants near by but this one caught my eye.

Yelp
We love thirsty lion and been to many other locations. This was our first time here at the San Tan in Gilbert. It's located in the SanTan mall and the parking is easy. We walked in on a Saturday night, it was packed and super busy. But, luckily we were seated immediately with no wait. The service was pretty slow considering how busy the place was. We went with blood orange margarita, one of their signature drink and it was very good. For the entrée we went with spicy cauliflower, chicken sliders and Brussel sprouts with no bacon. The drink arrived quick but the food came in almost at the end of our drink. I would highly recommend the sliders, it was bite size, crunch and perfect. The cauliflower was too sweet and wasn't that great compared to other locations. We would skip the Brussel sprouts next time. We finished it off with the deep fried chocolate brownie, the portion was huge and delicious. It was very sweet but pretty good. I would definitely come back when there's not much crowd and see how the food scene is.

Yelp
Very sad today. I love it here but cobbler came almost cold. Fish and chips were very greasy. This is the first time that l have been and it was not good. Guess I will find a new place
google avatar

Tracy K.

Yelp
The food was excellent as was the service. We ate from seasonal menu. Best burger my finance has had in a long time and my seasonal chicken bowl was amazing. I even tried his burger and I haven't like ground beef in a long time; it was pretty good. Highly recommend. Great atmosphere as well.

Yelp
This place is good but the service, meals and drinks are sometimes hit or miss. Great vibe and usually have the games on near the bar. Overall worth a shot.

John W.

Yelp
Brought my entire family here and they loved it. Was super busy and a huge party came in front of us but They got to us and made sure we were being taken care off. Food and ambiance are nothing to shrug off either. 10/10 all the way around.
google avatar

Yelp
Excellent service with a smile. Amazing food. Creative menu. Great selection of bee r. Wine and liquors. Absolutely spotless and amazingly friendly folks.

Yelp
The flatbread was mid level. Ordered with extra cheese but didn't come with it. The crust is very garlic bread like.

Yelp
This used to be one of our favorite go to places whether it be lunch or dinner. We have gone from eating here once a month to once a year. In the last two years, the couple times we've tried it. It's just been awful including yesterday. I used to love their French dip sandwich and it was my go to, but the bread is all dried out. The meat is just awful chewy dry thick, cut roast beef that taste like rubber. When you leave almost your entire plate, you would think the waitress would ask you was everything OK with your food but they know what's wrong and that's the problem. They do nothing about it .
google avatar

Christine R.

Yelp
I haven't been to a Thirsty Lion in years okay.. so I didn't have high expectations. But strangely enough, had the best dinner with my family the other night. The service was quick, easy, and the server was totally understanding of a toddler needing to order right away! We ordered basically all appetizers between my husband and I - and then my son got the kid's macaroni and cheese! For appetizers we got the eggs, the brussel sprouts, the cheeseburger sliders, and calamari. Everything hit the spot - the food was hot when it came out and so flavorful! The eggs were my absolute favorite - I don't even know how they cook it but it's like breaded and cooked to perfection. I'm a huge fan!
google avatar

Yelp
I enjoy thirsty lion every once in a while. I feel like the menu needs to change once in a while, but overall the food quality is good. The staff is always helpful and friendly, and the restaurant itself is clean. I like the dark wood and the ambience of this restaurant. it can be a little pricey but once again it's worth it once in a while.

Yelp
#FamilyDinner4FAIL. My meal, of course, was not prepared correctly so I sat & sat waiting for it to show. When it did arrive, everyone at the table was finished and it was a staring contest... aka hurry up Dad, we are bored and cold!!! I asked for the burger with no onions... and when I cut into it, the onions were "bonded" with the sandwich. I was initially irritated because I asked the staff when dropping off our items if I had the right sandwich 2x times and she was annoyed at me for even asking. Then came round 2 as it took our server a bit of time to follow up and that's when I requested a new meal (and I had cold fries)... The response from her felt like "Really... Are you Serious??"... so that's when I really got annoyed. I do appreciate the manager coming over to apologize when my meal came, but I was ready to go and the usual "fun me" was not available at this time! In the end, I paid for incorrect food and a longer-than-expected wait. I wasn't expecting it to be removed or anything, but this might be my last run with any of the Thirsty Lion spots as the consistency of the food and service is always a coin toss...50/50 chance of it being a good meal. Also, $4 lemonades for kids that don't taste good and getting a refill is like pulling teeth is not my ideal night out to enjoy...

Yelp
Went tonight with 3 others. It was ok. I ordered the wagyu burger from the summer menu. The prosciutto was like trying to eat tough jerky. Guessing it was overcooked. I ordered the burger medium but it was more like medium rare. Didn't taste any sauce on it and had to add quite a bit of salt
google avatar

Suzy O.

Yelp
The food is always good. The server, AJ, was attentive, friendly and did a great job.
google avatar

April K.

Yelp
Service was fine. Not spectacular but fine. The water glasses were dirty and the scotch eggs were not very good. Super overly fried. The drinks were good and the ambiance was okay. When we return to the area, we won't return here.

J M.

Yelp
The quality of the food, especially for the price, has gone way downhill over the last few years. Today I bought a $20 Waygu burger that tasted like dog food compared to a $5 In-N-Out burger! And the bun broke apart right away. I still have indigestion from the meal a few hours ago! Plus, they never have enough servers. Lastly, they changed their rewards program without notifying any of the existing customers. Not cool. Bye bye Thirsty Lion!
google avatar

Cara T.

Yelp
Took my family to eat a late light meal here. We were a party of 5. Went around 9:00 PM and there was no wait. Thirsty Lion is known for scratch kitchen meals , craft cocktails, a large selection of draft beer, and a seasonal menu and sports. We simply ordered an appetizer & dessert for my hubby's Birthday. Got the fried calamari which was dusted with seasoned semolina flour, lightly fried and served with chili lime sauce and lemon thyme aioli. It was really good. Ended the evening with the skillet brownie & it's the bomb, a double chocolate porter brownie with pecans, caramel and chocolate fudge sauces, baked in a cast iron skillet. It was amazing. Waitstaff was professional & very friendly. We will be back to explore more of their menu. A must try: that's been a popular dish is the Gastropub Burger (gorgonzola infused patty, grilled onions, maple pepper bacon, garlic aioli). Gotta give that a go!

Yelp
Went with a girlfriend on a Friday night and we had a blast!! The white noise was great in back ground as we talked for 3 hours!! Kayla had the Maui Mai Tia which was kinda strong..... I had the Moscow Mule.and it was delicious!! Highly recommended! We shared an order of fried pickles. They were long spears and was not a fan! Not easy to eat. Fried pickle chips would be better. For dinner I had Ahi Poke and Kayla had the sliders. It was ok. The tuna was delicious, great flavor...but the rice....it was stale or old. Not good! Kayla's burgers were just ok. Nothing special. Our server was amazing!! We will definitely go back for the vibe and the mule!!

Yelp
Stopped I. For Restaurant week Starters: Bacon wrapped prawns which were really shrimp, but tasted phenomenal. The sauce was great and the slaw that it was served with was very tasty with a tiny bite to it. The Moroccan meatballs had a definite Moroccan flavor to them which was delicious, if you like that flavor, the tzatziki sauce was a delightful accompaniment. The hummus on the side with a little vegetable on top was great, just needed some pita chips to be able to dip on the hummus. Entrees: Korean BBQ baby back ribs with kimchi fried rice- The fried rice was delicate and very tasty, the ribs were very meaty, with a good sauce, and fall off the bone tender with a little after burn. The slaw was a great accompaniment with a hint of ginger and very refreshing melding well with the rest of the spices Grilled salmon Caesar salad - the salmon was cooked perfectly with a great seared crust. The salad was tasty. The parmigiana chip was great. Dessert: whiskey apple crumble and Dark porter brownie - wow and wow. Both were topped with vanilla ice cream which had vanilla bean in it. By the way the dessert is huge. Tip: if you are coming as a couple and don't want leftovers- order one $33 menu and a second entree. More than enough food to split an appetizer and the dessert. Our server Kayleigh was great, kept our glass full and was around
google avatar

Karen D.

Yelp
After being a weekly customer here for years I will not be retuning as the hostess refused to seat my wife and I and our dog on the patio this evening claiming the patio is closed. We drove all the way here just to be denied seating when its not that hard at all to have a server take care of one patio table. Don't claim to be pet friendly and then refuse seating because your servers are lazy or incompetent. Every other restaurant in San Tan Village has there patio open so claiming it is too hot is ridiculous or maybe you need to hire more servers if one patio table is too overwhelming for their section.

Toons 2.

Yelp
Food not cooked to our preference, bar service slow! But the manager did make it right by taking off $$
google avatar

Michaela M.

Yelp
My parents and I have never been here before and decided to have brunch here. It was a full house at noon on a Saturday. We were sat immediately, greeted by our lovely waitress who tended to us at all times during our visit. We will definitely return. I have heard from friends that they have a great happy hour!
google avatar

Harris K.

Yelp
Been to Thirsty Lion plenty of times. And this time it did not disappoint either. Came in with a few execs from out of town. They wanted a good place and I thought why not Thirsty Lion? It has a very nice menu with lots of varieties and some dishes that are unique to Thirsty Lion. Needless to say they were not disappointed. Several of them got the ahi poke bowl.. including myself and it was really good. I happen to think poke bowls in Hawaii are some of the best I have had, and while this does not come close to that it was still really good and tasty. I would def order it again. Great experience with great food. Cant beat it. The only downside for me of Thirsty Lion is that it's always so dark inside. No matter what time of day it's always dark.
google avatar

Bucky B.

Yelp
Honestly really solid all around experience.... Ordered the meatballs and pita bread, cup of fries, roll of sushi, and a basked pretzel all which was solid! Shawna was our server and she was great! Check on us multiple times, we even accidentally spilled a drink and she immediately ran up and helped clean and brought us a new one immediately! Would definitely come back next time I'm in Gilbert!
google avatar

Bri M.

Yelp
Great food every time we've been here! Service is usually just ok! My honey likes to come here for happy hour to watch games
google avatar

Dede S.

Yelp
I've been going to Thirsty Lion since it opened in Gilbert. I always enjoy it. It's special to me because it was the first date spot for me and my boyfriend. We return on the anniversary, yearly. Today, I met a friend for brunch. I had the French dip, it was good. The horseradish cream could have been zippier, otherwise really good. My friend had the feta spinach omelet. It was very well done, looked like a real omelet. It can't be brunch without a Bloody Mary, lessons from my mom, so I ordered one, spicy. Our server was charming and funny. This location is at a mall so parking is plentiful
google avatar

Kurt M.

Yelp
Thirsty Lion San Tan made delicious scratch-made food, with great craft cocktails. You can taste the local ingredients and fresh flavors. The vibe is a mix of sports and music videos playing with indoor and outdoor seating. Happy Hour is every day from 3-6 pm! Our order: * Old fashioned * Tito's cocktail * Chicken salad * Crispy chicken sandwich
google avatar

Nancy M.

Yelp
We have been to this location a couple of times and have generally had good service and a positive experience. The prices are high for what you receive, but the restaurant itself is clean and spacious. The food is good but I wouldn't call it exceptional and for the price, I'm looking for more.
google avatar

Kat B.

Yelp
The food is below average, because the sushi is like glue, gummy and tasteless rice. The artichoke dip is actually a greasy cheese with nothing but spinach mixed in. Seriously bad. I am a foodie and this place is just wrong. Cocktails are mediocre at best. Sorry we had a lousy experience too.
google avatar

Arnie R.

Yelp
I had the beef sandwich which besides a bit light on the amount of beef that was there it was fatty and included a fair amount of gristle. My wife had a hamburger which she said was good. A better choice.
google avatar

Jaden P.

Yelp
Got food poisoning. Ordered the fried chicken mac n cheese. It comes with 2 big pieces of chicken on top. The pasta was good, but one of 2 of my chickens were so hard that I couldn't even cut into it so I did not end up eating that piece. My stomach started hurting immediately after finishing my food, and I continued to feel sick for the rest of the night until I eventually threw up. I'm not going to come back here again. Apart from that the service is good and the waiters are really accommodating to fix any mistakes made.

Debby B.

Yelp
Very disappointed in our service. My drink order took forever, when o finally got it , it was was warm. I ordered a cosmo. Our server did not check on us once so I wasn't able to order another drink or anything else that we needed. She finally showed up to give us our check. Won't be back.
google avatar

Chris B.

Yelp
Food and service were sub par to be generous. The kitchen couldn't get the order right. Took 10 minutes to get the dressing for the salad which was ordered on the side. Didn't get condiments for the burger, this took forever. The restaurant was empty at the time so this shouldn't have been a problem. Server disappeared for long stretches. We should've known better because this happened last time we went here. Super disappointed.
google avatar

Teneisha T.

Yelp
A friend and I went here because he had never been to a Gastropub. It was pretty standard. Nothing special. I got a side salad instead of fries but I didn't touch it because I orders blue cheese and for some reason it looks watery and grey. Which was a little different than any blue cheese dressing I had ever seen. The service was ok, nothing special.

Deegie D.

Yelp
We came into this location on Friday night and were seated almost immediately. This was my first time here and was looking forward to a nice evening. It was very nice, and the staff were really very pleasant. Except for my Rueben, everybody's food was really good. I will definitely come back as it's very nice place. The ambiance of this slightly noisy sports bar was really nice. I wish that my Rueben sandwich was better. It was very skimpy on the meat, and it was a bit dry. It tasted, just OK. Next time, I will try the burger, my wife said it was really good. My waitress was Very professional. Good Place, Terrible Rueben sandwich. Too bad!!
google avatar

Lisa B.

Yelp
My husband and I went here today. Our server Chris was amazing. They don't have sweet n low, so I had to have lemonade, which was tart but tasty. We had the beer battered cheese curds, absolutely amazing. My husband had a side Caesar salad which he enjoyed and I had the Brussel sprout and quinoa with chicken, also amazing. We haven't been here in awhile, but we will probably be back!!
