Thompson Playa Del Carmen Beach House, by Hyatt

Our stay at the Thomson was great. The front desk personal was always very helpful and kind. However, upon arrival they gave us a garden view when we booked a partial ocean view but since the hotel was fully booked we could not get that room. We did receive a free night though because of this. Additionally, there is a ton of sargassum when we visited (late May) so do yourself a favor and search up of this is during season because we had no beach access at all from the hotel. Some days it made the outdoor area smell bad but mostly it was bearable. The rooms were amazing- I was astonished by them. The pool area was beautiful as well, when we went there wasn’t many people there. There are bartenders by the beach area during hours which is nice. The location was spectacular- right off fifth avenue, but we did not hear very loud music at night really surprisingly! You have to pay 12$ a day for valet parking but we found local parking in the area (just make sure to pay for parking after 10 AM even if there are no signs because we got a ticket from this). Overall we enjoyed our experience very much.

This is the first hotel I’ve ever wanted to leave with more than half my stay remaining, knowing I won’t get the money back. The service here is just completely non-existent in an almost confusing way. Checked in as a globalist and was given legitimately 0 information. I don’t know where breakfast is, where the gym is, where my room or elevator was, how to order room service if wanted, nothing. The restaurant staff is equally as dismissive and will only do anything if you go and flag them down. I asked if they had a happy hour (it’s on the menu) and the guy looked at me like I was crazy and kept making me ask follow up questions. I do not recommend this place at all. Also none of this is a language barrier, Spanish is my first language so they don’t even get to use that excuse.

What a great hotel! The staff was so nice to us! The room was big with an ocean view! The location was perfect. You don't need a car when coming to Thompson Hotel, right in the middle of the action ! Bars restaurants, beach music, and happiness surround the location. There's 2 Thompson Hotel in the city , we chose the beach house, but we went to the roof top of the other hotel and it was amazing! They have a beautiful rooftop with pool, Japanese restaurants, and drinks . Totally recommended

This place was fantastic. Just what we were looking for in a last minute getaway. This hotel is right off the main strip for nightlife and activities and makes everything super easy to walk to. But do be warned, if you don’t shell out the extra cash for the premium beachfront rooms you may regret it. Senior Frogs is literally steps from the hotel, as well as another open air nightclub so you will be unable to sleep due to the way the rooms are situated. The closer you are to the beach the more restful your sleep will be. The last reviewer here mentioned there was no beach left after a storm or something. Well, as of August 2023 that was not the case - the beach was gorgeous and walkable for as far as the eye could see in both directions. It’s probably not fair to blame weather shifts on the hotel and say it was a “misrepresentation” of the beach. Our only issue with the beach was also due to seasonal conditions and that was the shifting seaweed. But what can you do. The hotel staff were out there every morning working to clear it out as best they could from the beach and the water was just unseasonably discolored in spots for the same reason. What can you do? The one thing I wished our room would have improved upon was the AC and the humidity levels. Although the AC was a central unit, it was likely and old system not updated to regulate humidity in the room because although we could set the temp to 65 F every day/night, the humidity was still clearly present and it was just oppressive. I would wake up every night drenched in sweat despite the AC being at full blast. Granted it was hot as hades everywhere we went so cold showers multiple times a day were required anyway, but this just made it hard to escape it. The plunge pool was nice but it could have been kept cleaner. We didn’t really use it. It had a strange film on the top and would have liked to see it have more circulation in the water so it was a place to cool down. Otherwise, the patio is phenomenal and the hotel is quite nice for the price and location. Don’t expect five stars but if you’re looking for a cute boutique hotel in the center of everything that is a solid 4 stars, then this is your spot.

Do not stay here. Staff are confused. The hotel charged the wrong card at check-in. Wouldn’t let me use another card at check-in, telling me that processing a refund would take 2 months. I spent all weekend going back and forth with staff and a manager about if they could process a refund and change the card, with every human I spoke to telling me something different. I booked two rooms, and the first day water was leaking through the ceiling in the shower in one of the rooms. They couldn’t change the room for 24 hours. When they did change the room, they immediately put another guest in that room (3005), telling us it had magically been fixed. The entire ceiling was dripping water, so I doubt it. There is also water damage in our room 3003. Photo attached This hotel is absolute trash. For the price, you should stay ANYWHERE else. This is unlike any stay I’ve had at other Hyatt or Thompson properties. Disgusting. Update: a manager, Francisco, also finally showed up (3 days of inquiry, he showed up 25 minutes before we were checking out). He was a real douche. Telling me nothing that hadn’t been said before. Outside of being a douche, he told me he would send a confirmation of the refund. Which hasn’t arrived. At this point, I have definitely been charged for the entire stay twice, and may or may not have a refund processed for the first charge, since they are unable to provide any kind of verification of the initiation of the process on their end.

Thankfully, we were upgraded to a suite at the Beach House due to AC issues at the other hotel, which was appreciated, had a great stay! Had a flat tire which the valet parking staff sorted quickly on our way out, we were able to catch our flight thanks to the them! Great service!

Our room is facing the ocean and very roomy. I am not happy about room service coming really early and we have to request for it which is not ideal. I don't recommend food here. I ordered crispy calamari which wasn't cooked and I bite into raw batter...... Not good. Location is amazing surrounded by stores and restaurants. Nestle espresso machine is a nice touch. I like this location rather than main hotel a couple blocks away.

Had a great experience with the staff at both Thompson locations - House and Beach. I arrived on a Saturday and it was super loud on fifth Avenue so I asked if I could change hotels or rooms and they were very accommodating and transferred me over to the beach. Stefan and his boss were really great! Thank you, I definitely recommend… Stay at the beach if you want more chill, stay at the house if you want more of a party vibe! Great staff! My room was lovely, but definitely more a 4 star hotel than a 5 star. The music at the restaurant/ beach bar is not good, some down tempo vibes would be much better than the commercial house tecno music they were playing. I couldn’t relax there and read my book because the speakers are so loud you can’t hear yourself think. Pool shower needs to be changed. The steps to the beach needs fixing, fallen palm tree, seems like they’ve let it go a little. Needs attention to detail for sure.

During my visit to playa del Carmen, I came across this hotel that had pool and beach access. $600 pesos for 2 people to access the area. I absolutely loved it. We ended up going twice and stayed by the pool for 4-5 hours. The pool was nice and clean & had a great view to the beach. Food was delish

Very nice boutique beach front hotel. Service is okay at the concierge desk, but their restaurant service is exceptional. The food is fantastic, and if you stay here, breakfast is included since they don't have an all-inclusive option. I enjoy the flowing drinks when you are resting poolside. The pool is tiny, and I wouldn't recommend coming here with kids. It seems more for adults. I do like the location it's odd the side street from 5th Avenue, which isn't too loud at night, but during the weekends, you can hear the parties. They provide ear muffs to block out noise at night. The rooms are very spacious as well. Overall, I'd come back to this location. It's very nice and peaceful!

Nice hotel right on the beautiful beach and perfect central location to ring in NYE vibes. Love sitting at the beach lounge area. Room is modern looking but not quite functional w/ outlet locations, hot water barely worked, bathroom tile craftsmanship didn't look so nice. Feel more like a 4 stars than 5 stars hotel. Front reception wasn't as friendly as other Hyatts. Overall we did enjoyed our stay. The noises fr near by didn't bother us too much.

Booked this hotel through Amex Fine Resorts and was very pleased with it. It's located right on the beach and close to the main strip with all the restaurants and shops. As a bonus, you get a room upgrade and a $100 credit to spend on food/drinks thanks to Amex. On top of that, you have a free access to the main house a few blocks away with an amazing rooftop deck and restaurants (+ gym). The hotel is beautifully designed and has a decent pool, lounge areas, a small beach, and a restaurant on site. Our room was very spacious, clean, and had a sea view. The only downside was loud music from like 8am till 11pm every night. The room had decent insulation and they put ear plugs by the bed, but you could still hear the beat which was unfortunate. The restaurant here (C-Grill) was ok - a plenty of breakfast and dinner options, fair price, tasty food, but the service was quite slow. It's been said a lot here, but the staff at the hotel is just wonderful. Very helpful people at the reception, friendly drivers and restaurant workers. The maid came to fix the room not once, but twice a day and brought additional water. Everyone greets you and opens doors every time you walk by. Overall, it was a positive experience and I'd definitely recommend this hotel!

The Thompson brand has two properties in Playa Del Carmen, one on the beach and the other two blocks a way. The room was excellent, food was delicious and customer service was great as well. Guests have access to both properties. The view from the rooftop is amazing.

Here ye, hear ye.... What motivated me to give this hotel, four stars; 1. Where else, in any part of the world that you actually want to be in, can you get a hotel that is literally on the beach for under $300 a night? 2. The staff is incredibly eager to please, they have that old school, Las Vegas customer service. Not only are they extraordinarily friendly and greet you every time you enter the lobby or the pool area with a "Hola" or "Buenos Dias". Even if they accidentally run into you in the elevator, they make sure to acknowledge your presence and say hello. When the staff is asked to do something, they actually follow through, which is remarkable for an American, like me, dealing with uninterested, millennials most of the time. 3. The restaurant to the hotel is literally on the beach. The food isn't great and the coffee is made from some mix not an actual espresso maker, but, you are literally listening to the ocean gently crash on the shore. And looking at all the hues of blue as far as the eyes can see. 4. It's walking distance to all the best people watching and restaurants. The big huge party corner is a few blocks away and the big family gathering corner of restaurants and performers is also two blocks away. 5. Because you're in such a densely populated area of Playa Del Carmen with one way streets and road closures for pedestrian only traffic, not all the hotels can give access to taxes. That means people are walking up and down the strip in the heat with their luggage. Here, though, you can get picked up and dropped off right in front of your hotel. 6. Did I mention you were on the literal beach? And are we in agreement that the beach is one of the best places in the universe to be? 7. They have a free tequila and mezcal tasting every night at 6 PM. Not only do you get to learn about tequila and mezcal, but you also get to make new friends as everyone gets a little looser and more accepting with tequila. 8. The rooms were clean and updated. 9. It's not overrun with people like so many hotels are these days. We never had a problem finding space at the bar, the restaurant, or the pool. What's not to love; 1. The food at C-Grill is just okay. 2. The pool towels are a bit raggedy and probably need to be all replaced. 3. They only air condition the main lobby, and of course your room. There's no air conditioning in the hallways and heat is so sweltering you may feel like you're gonna pass out going to your room or getting in the elevator. 4. They count and then charge you for the number of coffee capsules you use in your room. This policy may have been stated somewhere near the Nespresso maker, I miss things. But, it's reasonable and customary these days. that coffee is free in the room. I found hat more odd than offensive. 5. There are broken and loose tiles in the elevator that make a loud noise every time you stand on them. That's not a sign of a luxury hotel. What's sucks but does not get counted in the rating because it's beyond the hotels control; 1. There is literally no beach. The water rolls up to the hotel's patio. It's not their fault, it's ours, it's our love for plastic and consuming everything. But enough about the stabbing poor mother Earth in the back and destroying our future, I digress... 2. The seaweed, the brown slimy seaweed is right in front of the hotel, which makes going into the ocean from the hotel impossible. It's actually unpleasant going into the ocean anywhere this part of playa Del Carmen. A big tractor is out there every morning and lots of guys who are blistering in the sun using pitchforks to clean it up. But it's pointless, the amount of seaweed coming in is insurmountable. I usually read about this kind of stuff before I start running my mouth, but I haven't yet. My guess is that all the seaweed also has to do with us harming the planet. I don't see how it could be normal. It's like Egypt and the locus. It's biblical amounts of tale tell seaweed heeding us earthlings that the end is neigh!! 3. Señor Frogs is a few doors down and it feels like there's a nightclub outside your window every night until 11. It's loud. But maybe you have more energy than me and don't need to be in bed by 9:30 PM. I can be a drag some nights!! The verdict; I would definitely stay here again.

Stayed for a week at this hotel in early October 2023. It's a clean hotel but that's the only nice thing I have to say about it. Room service was unresponsive; I don't know how many times I called with no answer just try to replace the 2 bottles of water they were supposed to refresh daily. The air conditioner also went out throughout the entire hotel for the last three nights of my stay. I was reassured that it would be fixed promptly, but it wasn't. My room was over 31 degrees Celsius day and night and trying to sleep there was unbearable. I asked the front desk for the managers information and he tried to tell me that "these things happen", although after paying $350 a night for a comfortable room to sleep in, I didn't feel as though I should be the victim. I formally asked for a refund for the last few nights and sent the manager a formal email with my request. I was told it would take 20 days for a decision. 20 days later I still have heard nothing and so I called the manager again asking for an update. He said he had just spoke with the finance team and it would be another 20 days. Here I am another 20 days later and still no response. At this point I don't think that the manager ever sent my request in for approval. Potential vacationer beware: this is a nice looking hotel, but, with the exception of a couple of individuals, customer service is non-existent, and I suspect that routine maintenance is not something that they keep up with here. I paid nearly $1000 to sleep in an unbearable hotbox for three nights and they are not doing anything to make this right. That is just unacceptable.

Perfectly located beachfront in the middle of the shopping and restaurant district! A nice oasis away from the hustle and bustle of the crazy 5th Ave, but still just a block from it. The hotel is quaint, cute, with beachy vibes. Being a globalist, they upgraded our room to the balcony suite oceanfront which was breathtaking! It's one of the most spacious suites, had a small sitting area, wrap around balcony, a plunge pool on our balcony, double sinks, and 3 closets, 2 that held full size suitcases (usually always very difficult to find space to accommodate two large suitcases in most places). However, we got in at noon and our rooms weren't ready, asked them to text or call, but no one ever did. You only receive two coffees a day (Nespresso) in your room, so be careful not to drink all the pods they leave or they will charge you. Out front of the hotel is a hookah reggae bar and at night sometimes if you are on the street side you will need earplugs, the music is loud until late, and we know this since we had friends staying in 1002. Our room was 3008 on the complete opposite side and we heard nothing, so it does depend where you stay on property. They also have a fantastic tequila tasting with a very fun, personable bartender downstairs at the pool bar at 6pm, and by tasting they give you 5 full shots of different tequilas. Very fun, would recommend! Breakfast is slow and no one man's the front, Overall, a nice stay, and we felt safe the entire time we were here!

Beware of booking this property. Our flight was cancelled the day of our planned arrival and they would not waive or reduce the "usual" cancellation fee (one night stay + taxes), despite the fact that we have no way of making it to the location. Absolutely unhelpful and inflexible.

It was my first time visiting Mexico and staying in Playa Del Carmen. I would highly recommend the Thompson Beach house, it's literally RIGHT on the beach. However, don't be like me abs visit during hurricane season. Playa Del Carmen was FULL of seaweed. It was very bad for the beach. Luckily, as a beach house guest, I had access to the Thompson Main house that has a rooftop pool with cabanas. I recommend getting there early. I got there after 3, so cabanas and tables were pretty much taken. The staff at the Thompson Beach House was very welcoming and accommodating. Specifically, Jessica (shout out to Jessica!) because of the seaweed, I leaned on Jessica to give my friend and I some ideas on what to do...Jessica was able to help us coordinate a day-trip boat/snorkel tour to Cozumel. Cozumel is a BEAUTIFUL island. It's a quick ferry ride from Playa Del Carmen. Totally worth it! Anytime we needed anything or had any questions, Jessica was available and willing to help us. The hotel also has a daily tequila serving which was a nice way to get a little tipsy if you're a lightweight like me abs haven't drank in a long time. 5 stars for the Thompson, friendly, clean, and affordable luxury. I'll be back!

Thompson beach house review Loud is an understatement Let's put it this way on a scale from rock concert to monster truck rally, it falls somewhere in between. We arrive at the hotel on Thursday, mid-afternoon, to what sounded like a small level rave in all directions, yet there were 3 people at the pool...literally. Don't get me wrong, I like to have a good time, but I don't know why you have to blast music for the staff and seagulls. Here's the kicker, there is a rooftop club next to the hotel (that all rooms face) that blares musico from 3pm til God knows when. I'll get to the late night party later. The hotel itself is actually pretty nice and the staff courteous as well. However, the on-site restaurant is a complete rip-off with incredibly slow service. 4 house margaritas, 2 bottles of water, chips and guacamole for $75...I almost had a Mexican stand-off. Down the beach, to the left, is decently priced restaurant with good music that won't make you go deaf. We return to our room after dinner to the sounds of House music and trance...yay! Oh, it takes a considerable amount of time to cool your room, just fyi. Party is still going hard at this Mexican Vegas resort next door, so we call down just to see when the EpIc BeAcH PaRtY will end. Front desk says around 8pm. LIES AND DECEIT!!! 8pm comes and goes...I figure it will a) go on until 10pm or b) I'll need to pierce my ear drums. Well, the music actually gets louder at the 7th level of hell next door around 10:30. The sounds of Pitbull are etched into my memory...I'm probably going to seek counseling. I was drifting in and out of consciousness to the sounds of some trance pachanga when I finally hear someone yell on the mic in Spanish. It was over at 2:00am. God bless your soul and ears when staying here. It would be a great hotel for the hard of hearing, so there is that.

I very rarely leave a 1 star review. But this is deserved. We arrived after an insane wedding for our honeymoon with our entire family. We rented 6 rooms. We have been here 3 nights so far and the music outside is so freaking loud not a single person could Sleep. We called the front desk and 4 different people went down to the front to ask about it. The bass was so loud we could hear it through earplugs. AirPods. And even the TV. We asked the front on Sunday to please do something. Or find out what the deal was. They promised it was only one night and it would end by 11pm. By 1AM it was still going. It's now Wednesday evening. One night later and it's going again. We called the front. They told us "it's a private event and they have no control". It's so bad even the work calls during the day that need do be taken can't even be heard. This will be the absolute last time that anyone stays here. Not only that we will be asking for a full refund and other compensation. Nobody can sleep. This is literally the WORST hotel Experience I have seen. From a 5 star hotel, when the response is "we can move you to our other hotel at midnight" or sorry there's nothing we can do...absolutely disappointed in Hyatt and the Thompson. At the very least add better insulation to your windows. Or warn your guests. Horrible. Horrible. Horrible. Funny enough. We checked the other Reviews just now. It's been going on since LAST Thursday. So one night only was a big fat LIE! This will be absolutely taken to the next level. Multiple people not being able to sleep from this horrible experience. We will be asking for a full refund, which I have never in my life done at a hotel.

Modern, Sheek Hotel that gives you a good vibe while vacationing in Playa Del Carmen. Though there was a delay to my Check in; I must say that the staff made up for it during my stay at the Thompson. The Hotel is close to the nightlife and strip area of Playa Del Carmen so you can walk to any of the nearby clubs, restaurants, stores and etc. Safe enough to walk late at night as well, just be as cautious as you would in your normal city, state or country. Catch Grill located on premises with good food options & Vegan friendly. My Waiter Manuel & many of his other colleagues made me feel very welcome during my stay and I can't say anything bad about this experience at all. Definitely will be back again.

I want to start off by saying this hotel's photos are VERY deceiving. The website shows most of the rooms to have nice ocean views. Well that wasn't the case when we checked in. We had booked a deluxe king ocean view and we were given a room with a view of the pool, a view of other people's balconies, the public street right below, and also the hotel across the street who's balconies faced ours. I would consider this property more of a motel than a hotel. The lobby or front desk (if you can call it that) is not very welcoming either. You don't feel like your entering an actual Thompson Hotel but rather just another beachfront motel on the Playa coast. The food was disgusting and worse than most restaurants on the main street. The staff (Alan and Anahit) were not able to provide us with the room that we had booked and refused to provide a refund to us at the time. They kept telling us that they may have another room available at a later date but keep in mind that we were scheduled to stay here for 7 nights. We don't often get vacations so we didn't want to settle for a room that we did not want. We told the staff that we would not be able to wait around for them to possibly have something open up in a couple days. Who would want to take a chance like that on their vacation?? So, we got up and packed our bags and left to the Andaz Myakoba Resort, which was phenomenal. I will write a separate review about that. In summary, here are the bullet points of why I would never attend this hotel ever again: 1. We did not receive the room type we booked. The views are not of the ocean but rather another balcony and the street. No privacy 2. Service was terrible. No attentiveness or willingness to help us knowing the situation we were in 3. Food- Terrible (Catch Grill or C-Grill). Don't be fooled for the Catch name. 4. Very Noisy- The room is next to a street and you can hear trucks delivering at 6am on top of all the club and bar music that goes on until 4am 5. Terrible smell at nights Side Note- One of the things that really convinced us to stay here was that the hotel's restaurant was Catch Grill or C-Grill. We all know the reputation that Catch has in America so we figured that this place would be sort of the same. Upon arrival to the restaurant on a Friday night, I began to worry as I saw nobody else but us sitting in the restaurant. We then ordered several different things so we can try out a variety of stuff. All I have to say regarding the food was that it was disgusting. We had fish tacos and the fish was raw. The food tasted old. I mean there was one waiter, one cook, and nobody else in the restaurant. How fresh can the food possibly be. Well, it wasn't. We hardly ate anything but did not complain because that is not in my nature. Avoid this hotel at all costs. I rarely post bad reviews but this was deserved. I've stayed at other Thompson hotels before and it was nowhere close to this. I hope this review helps Thompson improve their hotel and services in Playa.

I found the Thompson Hotel via expedia and wanted to learn more about it before booking. I contacted the hotel and got in touch with Georgina (director of leisure sales) She was very helpful in making my decision to either reserve the thompson hotel or beach house. She sent me photos of the property & videos. She then referred me to Jose Antonio (reservations manager) who assisted me in placing the reservation (very convenient). Prior to arriving I had some questions about transportation/activities/what to do. Jose Antonio referred me to Sinahi (very kind and helpful throughout my stay until I got back home. Cancun airport to Thompson Beach House was probably about 45-55min away. I used USA Transfers since I used them 3 years ago in Cancun. We arrived at the hotel at 2pm even though check in time was 3pm. The doormen (very nice and would always greet me by my first name during the stay) helped bring our luggages in. We were greeted by Leslie who assisted in checking in. She reviewed the reservation and went over all the details. She told us that the room would be ready by 3pm. We decided to have lunch at C Grill right at the beach front. The food was delicious. (Ordered the Aguachile and Guacamole/Chips). By 3pm we were about to walk back to the lobby but Leslie walked right over to our table to give us our room keys. We had the Partial Ocean View Suite. Definitely a great room and view. Room was very clean and tidy. Comes with a fully stocked bar, soaking tub inside the room with a view, bathrobes, umbrella for the sun/rain, iron, iron board, 2 comp water for brushing teeth or drinking water. Housekeeping daily surprised me. They clean very well. More than 1 person cleaning the room. They even tied up my iPhone charger because the wires were all over. Even my shoes were all over the place and they put it all together side by side. We went to C Grill for daily breakfast and the service and food were always phenomenal. There were 2 , but I remembered 1 (Paulo). He would always greet me by name. You have to try to juices on the menu. I have a juicer at home and it's just like it but better. The Servers at C Grill serve the whole property (restaurant, pool,and by the beach). I give it up to them. The bartender Toby was really nice. The property does tequila tasting daily at 6PM. Even if you miss it, They'll be there the next day at 6PM. Toby introduced us to the Herradura Tequilas. I learned a lot about the Herradura house. Now I can go home and tell my friends about the different type of tequilas from Herradura. Thank you Toby for the Tequila Tasting experience. Me and my girlfriend learned about it and had fun at the same time. The property is clean and is off the beach. I have no complaints. Mostly couples and no kids on the property. The hotel would email you if they have an event going on that day (they have live band Friday and Saturday 3-6pm and they had the Juventus vs Real Madrid game on a big screen. During our stay I brought my gf to Catch restaurant at the Main hotel for her birthday dinner. I reserved through OpenTable.com or you can call in. Once we arrived they allowed us to choose a table. We chose the booths in the back. We were greeted by our server who gave us free round of drinks on the house complimentary of Thompson hotel. The restaurant manager then came up to us and introduced himself. I appreciate the hospitality and service at the restaurant. Our server, I wish I got his name, he was excellent.The food is amazing. We tried the Wagyu beef and was delicious. Cocktail Drinks are real good. For dessert they gave my gf a nice bday brownie cake(also comp). I also requested a bday cake to be sent to the room. server Paulo took care of it . So when we returned to the room it was available. The plate had"Happy Birthday" and they made balloons that said Feliz cumpleanos. Swimming pool- nice and warm not freezing cold. They have cabanas and many beach chairs Check out - was no problem at all, adjusted and paid. Bellhop assisted our luggages on the USA Transfers van. Overall; great customer service, hospitality, meets beyond my expectations, would come back to this hotel when I return; food is phenomenal, drinks delicious. Thank you to all the hotel/restaurant staff at Thompson Beach House and Thompson Hotel. Me and my gf enjoyed our stay and will come back to thompson beach house. Thank you Sinahi for checking up on us literally 10 min after we got home.

First off Thompson ruined a very cool place in the world Playa Del Carmen. Secondly one of the coolest hotels in the Americans mosquito beach they changed it and made garbage they took a very cool curated place and ruined it. Same with mosquito blue, really there designers and stylist i how to meet them and ask them why? No style no cool factor and as a global traveler I refuse to ever go to a Thompson hotel what a garbage brand and there personal that did this a disgrace to humanity

Stolen Property We booked the ocean front balcony suite for our 5 year wedding anniversary and my wife and I had both our Apple AirPods stolen from our room. The hotel did an investigation, but of course they were not found. We are extremely disappointed with the lack of urgency. It seemed as though we were the ones to have to continually follow up on the issue, rather than proactiveness from the Thompson. There was NO resolution upon us leaving 3 days after it was reported and nothing was offered in terms of compensation for our stolen items. Very disappointing customer service for not making this situation right. We will not be returning due to the violation of our stolen property...this should not be acceptable anywhere, let alone a hotel like the Thompson.

Check in was very easy and our room was very comfortable, and the view down to the beach was really lovely! The folks who work here are what really makes it special. Everyone is so kind and ready to recommend a delicious place to eat or help with a rental car. I really can't explain how wonderful and relaxing our stay was.

Location is great, staff could not have been nicer.., would stay again in a second. This is a quieter hotel... you want more action stay at the Main hotel.

Really enjoyed my stay at the Thompson. The rooms were very clean and comfortable with large balconies and large living space. My favorite thing about this hotel was the restaurant overlooking the water! You can also find Catch Restaurant at the Thompson Hotel. Only four in the world. (Dubai, NY, LA, Playa). Fun experience. The staff at this hotel were all so kind and professional. We got to know some of the bartenders and waiters and they were awesome! Highly recommend this place if you are looking for a boutique hotel.

Shhh... this has got to be the ultimate vacation spot. I'm actually regretting putting this secret spot out there to the world - I want to keep it to myself!! My husband and I spent out first anniversary here and we could not find a single thing to complain about even if we tried! The staff here are incredible - everyone is just super friendly, authentic and just genuinely nice and enjoyable to be around. We rented a car and drove in to PDC from Cancun. A lot of the streets in the neighborhood are one-way only and it can be tricky to navigate your first time. We called the concierge and within two (!!!) minutes - no exaggerating, we couldn't even understand how he appeared so quickly! - they had sent someone out to drive us to the door and park our car for us. We were welcomed with champagne and crisp AC (a huge plus in the tropical climate). Check in was a breeze and within minutes we were introduced to the staff and brought to our room. We stayed in the panoramic view balcony suite. The room has a wrap around balcony with floor to ceiling glass walls so the view is absolutely breathtaking from anywhere inside. There's also a breakfast table, couch and pool on the patio. In the morning, the sun just glows into the room, in the most stunning shades of pink and purple. You cannot get more perfect views - morning and evening. See photo evidence. Celebrating our anniversary, we were welcomed into the room with flowers, balloons, fresh fruit and the sweetest note. They didn't miss a thing. Just the perfect touch. The Beach House really offers it all. It's a boutique hotel in size - only about 24 (or 27) rooms - but it really has a luxury resort feel to it. The lap pool is perfect for lounging at. The beach front restaurant is literally on the sand. By day, you have the incredible shades of blues and greens staring back at you from the ocean; by night, there is nothing more relaxing than a fresh mojito or hot cup of tea while listening to the waves crash on the shore. Rest assured, whether you're on the beachfront loungers, at the pool, getting breakfast, dinner or drinks, the food is consistently fresh, flavorful and all around a winner. The Beach House also offers FREE tequila tasting - the organizer is really well-versed in the history and identity of tequila and the tequila industry. Guests are also treated to a complimentary facial at Oro Gold (about a three minute walk). The Beach House location is directly near all the water sports and convenience stores. You have parasailing (surreal), jet skiing, snorkeling, scuba diving and 7-11 all within seconds. You don't even need shoes - it's that close! The Beach House has bikes available for (complimentary) use. Personally, we did use the bikes as we enjoyed walking everywhere, but they can come in handy if you want to spend some time exploring the further ends of the city. The Thompson in the city (about a block and a half away, maybe a four minute walk) has the most exquisite rooftop infinity pool. They offer 6 AM yoga classes there - free of charge. Before you balk at the thought of waking up so early on vacation, just imagine this - one on one instruction with the most serene person you will ever meet, the pool deck is silent, the city itself is silent, as the sun rises the roof begins to glow until you literally feel like you are in heaven. It's unreal. They also have fun cocoon swings and great drinks/pool snacks available. From start to finish the staff really demonstrated impeccable customer service - you can tell they're goal is to really go the extra mile. From detailed recommendations on excursions (even arranging some free of charge!) to custom creating a special menu to accomodate our complicated dietary needs (the chef went shopping for us and made food he doesn't even have on his menu - see photo of sushi) to always remembering our names and just being friendly. I cannot imagine how to improve upon the level of quality customer service provided here - they know how to maintain return clientele. Everyone in the hospitality industry should visit The Thompson to get a taste of true luxury. We cannot have wished for a better experience on our trip. Special shoutouts to Leslie (for all the behind the scenes arrangements before we arrived), Carolina and Christian at concierge (for your friendship and excellent recommendations), Notario and Juan at C-Grill (for your patience and efforts in accommodating our needs) and Charly for the sweet set-up in our room. Thank you Thompson Beach House for setting the bar oh so high! You can be sure we will be returning SOON!

Great hotel. Absolutely amazing. They told me my room was 20 meters away from the ocean and they weren't kidding. You want the beach? It takes less than a minute to get there. Want some authentic culture, go down the street into the city. It's also close to XCaret and other attractions. Also the food is great. Only problem is that there is no Pokéstop or gym that you can reach from your room. There are many near but none reachable from a room. I'll still give it 5 stars but it's not perfect because of that.

This place is a joke. The lobby attendant woman was super arrogant. I strongly believed that I was discriminated. A horrible place and overcharged prices. Staying at this hotel just ruined the entire stay at Playa del Carmen. It was my second visit to Playa del Carmen because I had a wonderful experience there, and I booked this place for the better experience. I was totally wrong. I'm not even sure I would even ever want to visit Playa del Carmen again because of almost traumatic memory I had at this horrible place. Horrible is not really enough to describe this place.

It's tough to get 5 stars out of me for a hotel, but this place couldn't go wrong! The service was impeccable from the front desk to Phillip teaching us all about tequila at the free tequila tasting. The security all around the premises made me feel safe and a little spoiled. The set up of the charming boutique hotel is truly breathtaking! The small pool area and bar are exclusively for hotel and restaurant quests only! You want a chair and towel on the beach; no problem! The snack food on the menu was delicious sans the crispy grasshoppers, but it provided entertainment. Our server and my husband bonded over the guacamole. Lol! We had a nice bottle of rose on the beach twice. We also love the fresh green coconuts. The rooms are spectacular, spacious and were cleaned twice a day. We had a junior suite with a partial ocean view. We loved this place sooo much that we are returning in March to celebrate my 40th birthday and splurged for the panoramic suite! We can't wait to be back in Playa to stay at a place we know we are appreciated and comfortable.

My daughter and I went for a weekend and had a spectacular time. Picked up at the airport seamlessly. Brought directly to the hotel and stepped into a gorgeous lobby with the most friendly and accommodating front desk staff. The bell men were super efficient and friendly. We had amazing meals on site and at the adjacent sister hotel. The food was outstanding and the service top notch. Beautiful views from the very chic rooftop with the lounging pool, fantastic bar and the incomparable Catch restaurant. Spending the day at the beach we were waited on by warm and friendly waitstaff. Jefferson took great care of us and even acquiesced to taking a picture for us to commemorate the trip. Breakfast I recommend the avocado toast. Lunch I loved the shrimp skewers and dinner at Catch don't miss the spicy tuna on crunchy rice. Fun cocktail menu and great wine list. I can't wait to go back! Thanks to the greatest staff for an amazing experience!

Loved the restaurant! Great location on the beach; listing to the waves break and a nice strong breeze to cool us down. The Mediterranean focused menu is delicious and healthy. Prices are fair. Extremely friendly service!! We will definitely go back next time we're in Playa Del Carmen.

Incredible service, beautiful views, and the hotel's signature scent is amazing! The hotel GM was so helpful and such a joy during my stay.
