"Take it from the top: What's Toronto's Thompson like? With its buzzing rooftop, sleek crowd, and location in King West Village—an area of historic factories now considered one of Canada’s capitals of cool—the Thompson is one of Toronto’s year-round hot spots. A bold, contemporary style pervades the property, with industrial accents and loud pops of color creating a vibrant backdrop for the action. The vibe is very much urban resort, and it's a one-stop hub for all your entertainment needs. Who's here?Hip urban professionals mix with buttoned-down business travelers and the occasional movie star. What's the mood up in the rooms? What are the highlights?Sophistication-with-an-edge is the prevailing vibe in the 105 rooms, which have been envisioned by NYC-based Studio Gaia with dark woods, chic furnishings, jewel-toned accents, and floor-to-ceiling windows. Tech-wise, there’s a smart alarm clock, Soundfreaq Sound Rise Bluetooth system, 42-inch plasmas loaded with movies, and multimedia-equipped work area. Rooms have Keurig and Marley coffee; suites have Nespresso machines. The marble bathrooms have heated floors, walk-in showers, and D.S. Durga amenities. What is the wifi situation?Wifi is free. Most importantly, how is the food? Will we have options?Serving drinks and a light menu throughout the day, the Lobby Bar draws groups of colleagues and laptop warriors to a happy-hour and late-night crowd; there’s also a seasonal patio and live music Thursday through Saturday. The Thompson Diner, a full restaurant, is a modern spin on the classic diner, and Greenhouse Juicery, open 21 hours a day (from 6 a.m. to 3 a.m.), does a great weekend brunch. The lower-level, guest-list–only Wildflower lounge is a intimate space for cocktails and music, while the Rooftop draws crowds with drinks, sushi, bottle service, live entertainment, and 360-degree views of the city and Lake Ontario. That sounds like a fun time. Who will we spot on the roof? While the Rooftop Lounge hosts a lively local crowd, the adjacent 40-foot pool is only open to hotel guests, members, and residents of the Thompson's private apartments. Bottom line: worth it, and why?Fans of the Thompson's signature boutique style and lifestyle scene won't be disappointed." - Sandra Ramani

Great place to stay. The front desk staff and valet staff were very friendly - they even give you a phone number to text if you need anything. Views are spectacular from the rooftop - you can walk around the entire roof. The room was good - not a lot of lighting but enough at the desk and bedside to suit our needs. Bathroom was awesome - heated tiled floors and a separate toilet. I wish more was included in the rate since it's very high, but all in all a great stay.

Love the hotel and the staff were very welcoming. Bar is open at night and there are performances often. The pool and bar on the roof is amazing and the view is gorgeous. Only thing about the pool is that people can rent it out for events, which closes it off to people who paid for the night at the hotel. As a result, you may not have as much access to the rooftop pool. Rooms were super clean (hair dryer was a dyson) which was super useful. Would go again for sure, thanks for the amazing experience!

Very friendly service, easy parking, clean room. Modern but basic. I like having the 24hr diner in the same building that also provides room service. This hotel rooftop has nice views and the pool looks nice. It does get crowded at night and almost looks like a club entrance but I just walked up to the front and the security asked if we were staying and was extremely friendly and opened the door and said welcome back. I wasn't expecting that, so it left a good impression to me. Needs improvement: provide free water + toothbrush in the rooms. Really feels a bit cheap to not included these two basics. I wouldn't mind paying an extra 5-10 per night to have a bit more.

Customer service was amazing! It was my anniversary and they left a complimentary bottle of champagne in the room with a voucher for drinks in the rooftop lounge. The room was clean and well kept. Very modern feel. Will definitely be coming back. Location is perfect.

The food here is great, and the rooftop bar has a great view. My room had a breathtaking view of the city. The room was nice and spacious with a well designed restroom. The location is right off Bathurst and steps away from King St. West. Great location, close to restaurants, shopping and nightlife. Service was great, let be the lobby. Highly recommend staying here.

Great ambiance, and contemporary room design. However the room seemed a little tired, some of the trim has been broken off before and sloppily glued together, the table had chipped paint and it looked like the floor had some water damage, not what you'd expect in a more premium "superior" room. We did enjoy their rooftop bar with the stunning views. And the breakfast room service arrived promptly (15min), the food was tasty and they did accommodate dietary restrictions with some custom off menu items.

This place will have a place in my heart forever. It was my first time staying over and my boyfriend (now fiance) planned the best intimate proposal ever. He had been in contact with the staff at the hotel for a whole week and I love how the staff was in on the whole surprise. Apart from all of this, the hotel stay was amazing. The rooftop lounge has the best view in the city. Loved every minute of my stay here.

Clean and classy venue with a spacious lobby and main floor lounge and beautiful night view from the top floor lounge. We had nice servers overall who gave us good drink recommendations that I'd probably order again I was told the downstairs bar area was recently renovated but not sure what it looked like before. The main floor layout is more open concept as opposed to being a very bustling bar area compared to the top floor. You need a stamp to be admitted to the top floor but they didn't check any of our IDs. It was a good time with pretty decent vibes. Would return for future special events if I am in the area.
