Excellent stay here. The room was printine and reasonably sized for the price. Good shower, good bed. Missing a few places to store clothes (a couple of small shelves, one larger one but very high) but you can't have everything! Room had both iron and kettle which was great. I would recommend a room on the courtyard side if you are sensitive to noise because nearby bars are quite loud. But the glazing is excellent and it didn't bother us. And the breakfast... oh my goodness! It was superb, amazing buffet, full of everything you could possibly imagine, hot and cold.

This hotel is modern, clean, and very comfortable, with exceptionally friendly staff. The breakfast is excellent, and the location is perfect for exploring the city on foot. It can feel a bit busy at times, but overall it’s a great place to stay in Oslo!

Centrally located modern hotel with an on-site restaurant and a tram stop a few steps from the entrance. Our room, as the hotel, was well designed, both pleasing to the eye and restful. The windows provide excellent soundproofing which made for restful sleep. There is no air conditioning which is the norm. There is a lounge on the 8th floor available to everyone for a change of scenery. The breakfast buffet deserves all the accolades it gets. I thought the reviews might be overdone when reading about the hotel but having been there I can assure you that you will enjoy every moment of breakfast. I certainly enjoyed steeping my own combination of loose leaf tea. That's something I've never been able to say before.

I truly appreciate your warm hospitality to arrange a room with a lovely view made my stay so much more memorable and enjoyable. Your attentiveness and willingness to go the extra mile really reflect the wonderful service of the hotel. Good coffee from the breakfast, even breakfast on the go for my early flight out! All these little gestures count!

Our Go-To Hotel This is our go-to hotel, and for good reason. The staff are friendly and provide excellent service. The breakfast is the best you could ask for—you never get tired of it, even after staying for more than a week. Even when the breakfast room is full, the acoustics are great, making it calm and relaxing. The rooms are comfortable and clean. We stayed on the 5th floor and could barely hear the tram outside. The air conditioning worked perfectly. Housekeeping kept the room spotless. A special mention to the Asian gentleman who tidied up in the mornings—whenever he was on duty, the tables were always promptly cleared and spotless. Some of the other staff didn’t seem to notice empty plates as quickly.

Many have written about the noise from the street. Do not ignore that warning. Despite requesting a room in the back of the hotel, we were given a 7th floor room overlooking the bars and restaurants. Unfortunately, the outside festivities were easily heard until around 3 in the morning.||To the hotels credit, they did change our room to the back of the hotel. That room was very quiet.||Also, the modern motif was not our thing. It may be for others.

English visitors just returned from a great trip to Oslo. The Rozenkrantz is very good with a central location near the royal palace and the main shopping area. We didn't get a chance to use the restaurant for evening meals but it is very good for breakfasts with a great choice. All the staff are very friendly and helpful. There are many restaurants within walking distance and do try the bar Roor across the road if you like good beer.

Location of the hotel itself is very central and within walking distance to many areas. Please note this hotel is right beside bars, so it is very noisy till 3 am. I had to wear headphones in order to fall asleep. The room was nice and just big enough for two people with two big suitcases. The bathroom heated floors was not working, so it was quite cold in there even for the summer. Concierge was great with free tap water, tea, and coffee in the lobby. Breakfast buffett was astounding and I enjoyed the breakfast ginger shots and small coffee bar.

Yelp
Centrally located to many restaurants, shops, museums and tram. Clean, efficient rooms. On the small size. Bed very firm. Has fridge, kettle. Staff super pleasant and helpful. Ice machines and shoe polishing machine on each floor. What makes it fantastic is the included breakfast which is amazing. Specialty coffees made to order. You won't need lunch. Top floor is a lounge with coffee and tea 24/7. A very nice gym with great selection of equipment. Always open.

Yelp
Ideal location, unquestionably a wonderful and possibly unbeatable breakfast buffet (voted best of Oslo in 2023) with so much to indulge to ... The staff was friendly, sometimes even funny. The room itself was ok, not particularly luxurious. Some awkwardness was that the room door opened outwards and seemed not to go into lock when just closing the door but necessitated the use of the room card. And the color selections throughout the hotel (carpets, furniture, etc) really hurt my eyes.

Yelp
Apparently the seating is a free for all at breakfast despite the waiter seating you at a table. Went to get my breakfast came back to my table taken. The waiter's didn't care and we had to wait, holding our food till a table could be cleared. Other annoying aspects of this hotel include: *The hotel room door doesn't lock automatically *the show is really just two doors, so the bathroom fills with water as you shower *the room doesn't have anywhere to place your luggage or store your clothing *there are more light switches than lightbulbs. So good luck figuring out how to turn off all the lights for bed. Overall, wouldn't stay here again.

Yelp
My family's favorite hotel of 5 hotels across 5 cities in 3 countries. It was posh and comfortable and we wanted for nothing. The hotel is well located and easy to get around to most attractions like City Hall and the Oslo Central Station; the Vigeland Sculpture Park is a taxi ride away (it is out of the way and away from all the other attractions). The rooms were very nice upscale with king beds (2 twins pushed together), umbrella, safe, mini frig. The complimentary breakfast was an impressive selection. And we were super pleased that they had quiet ice machines (I believe on each floor). We would definitely stay here again but try to get a quiet room facing the inner courtyard. Having said that, I don't know why but I just didn't trust the staff. When we checked in, they made a fuss of telling us that we had gotten our requested connecting rooms. But the rooms were facing the street so we got to hear the tram pass by every 5-15 minutes. It wasn't sustained or super loud so you got used to it after awhile. It seems their windows are not sound proof and they knowingly gave us a noisy room like it was a favor - hence no trust.

Yelp
I was disappointed by this hotel. In my reservation, I specifically asked for a quiet room, away from any noise. But when I arrived, I realized that my room was right next to the elevator. When I asked to change room because of the noise from the elevator, they refused. The only room they could change me to was on the street side and closer to street level. Of course, I let them know my disappointment but they didn't show that they gave a damn. Another reason to deduct stars is because the restaurant that they advertised on their website was closed when I went there. I chose this hotel, in part, because it seemed like it had a nice bar and restaurant attached - thats' a main draw for me when I travel. They should at least remove the restaurant pictures and let people know if the restaurant is closed - just be honest. The hotel itself is fine - slick and modern - so an extra star there. Won't recommend and won't return.

Yelp
"Always rise to an early meal, but eat your fill before a feast. If you're hungry, you have no time to talk at the table." The Havamal, Book of Viking Wisdom I don't know if any Vikings or Viking gods have ever been guests at Thon Rosenkrantz , but this hotel is fit for the most sophisticated seafarer arriving via longship or cruise ship. Regardless of how one gets there, all will be greeted by the most helpful and friendly staff around! Renovated in 2015 and decorated in funky color schemes, the hotel is immaculately clean, and is conveniently located close to the harbor, fish market, and Fløibanen funicular. The standard rooms are quite small, not leaving much space for open suitcases, loot, or battle-axes, but they are efficiently arranged and have extremely comfortable beds. It was abnormally hot during our visit, so we longed for air conditioning, but we were able to crack a window and got a small fan from the front desk as well. The best part is that your stay will come with a complimentary bountiful breakfast...and free light dinner as well! No pillaging required! Speaking of food, you'll want to invade that dining room first thing in the morning, raiding all the homemade, organic, and locally produced breakfasty goodness (with options to fit any dietary restriction), made and served with love and a smile by the amazingly talented and friendly chefs and dining staff. In fact, Thon Rosenkrantz took Bronze in the Twinings Best Breakfast competition in 2017 (more than 400 hotels in Norway participated). Special shout out to Chef Michael who always seemed so happy to see us and talk to us (or at least pretended to). He doesn't know it, but we were all fighting over who would steal him back to the US to be their own personal chef! Where should I start with breakfast with so much to digest? *In my best Bubba from Forrest Gump voice*: You've got your waffles and pancakes, pastries, fresh fruit, smoked salmon, scrambled eggs and omelets made to order, cereals, yoghurts with toppings galore, and THE BEST BACON! Bacon...bacon...bacon...and more crispy bacon!!! Wash it all down with some fresh squeezed juice, a smoothie with an omega-3 capsule, or a cold brew. I think the only thing missing was mellamleggspapir (parchment paper), with which to pack a traditional, boring matpakke. But if you were crazy enough to ask for that, I have no doubt the staff would round some up for you. As if this weren't all enough, servers periodically pass out desserts, such as macarons, while you are eating. You might think you don't have an inch of room left in your stomach to put it. But hey--just put it in your dessert stomach instead! That's what it is there for! There is no place better than to end (or to start) with dessert, so I'll wrap it up from here by giving our stay from check in to check out a standing ovation. Oh wait...that is entirely too over the top for any self- respecting Norwegian. Instead I'll just give the hotel a polite half smile and a 4.5 rating. ~The Nosy Norwegian

Yelp
We absolutely loved our stay here in Oslo. They we able to accommodate our early arrival and offered a 4pm check-out for us on the Sunday when we were leaving. The hotel offers a light evening meal and probably the best breakfast spread I have ever had. You can tell they take real price in the breakfast buffet and these are both included in your rate as well as access to a cappuccino/coffee machine and flat/sparkling water dispensers in the lounge and lobby. The room was nice, clean and quiet, even with heavy construction going on outside in the street. The location was central to just about everything and allowed quick access to the OBOS bike racks that we purchased a daily subscription to for the duration of our stay that allowed us to hop around the city with ease. If you want a tub you'll need to book a business class room, but the showers were very nice in the standard room. We would definitely stay here again!

Yelp
Clean hotel located in the city centre. Rooms are nice, clean, and there is a lounge upstairs with unlimited coffee and teas for you to grab anytime. Dinners are delicious and the restaurant you sit in is very pretty. The decor in the entire hotel is lovely! Walk outside and you're a couple blocks from the park, a few blocks more from the water. We really enjoyed this hotel.

Yelp
Very good hotel located in Oslo city centre. The rooms are nice and clean. Good bed and bathroom. They are also provided with a huge smart TV and BOSE sound system. Every evening you can have a free hot meal i the Lounge. And there are also free coffee and newspapers. The breakfast is fantastic. Everything is homemade and high quality. My favourite Oslo hotel.

Yelp
Just an absolutely delightful hotel in the center of Oslo! One thing that we wanted to be conscious of as we booked hotels in such an expensive city for meals was the availability of breakfast and such at the hotel. There ended up being the most impressive breakfast buffet we saw our entire trip along with a free light dinner! More on the breakfast, because this was really impressive: Just recounting from memory, there was a muffin and bread station, a variety of breakfast meats, a variety of lox and smoked salmon, a juice and smoothie section, omelets, fruit, and other assorted goodies. I am probably even leaving more out. It was a perfect way to start each day in Oslo and saved us quite a bit of money by taking care of a meal or two at the beginning of the day. Furthermore, the location was also excellent. We were a hop skip and a jump away from the city center and had easy access to most of the city from here. Rooms were clean and well-maintained and provided more than enough in terms of comfort for us each night. Highly highly recommended!

Yelp
The hotel was in a great location and the bed was very comfortable. Everything was clean and the fresh flowers in the lobby were beautiful. The staff were all friendly and even let us check into our room early. We LOVED the Nespresso machine in the lobby and on the top floor. The breakfast was fantastic. The "evening meal" was simple but very good. We stayed 3 nights and were pleased. We would definitely return to this hotel and would highly recommend it to others, particularly for travel in July (busy tourist season) when the rates can be pretty high across the board in Oslo. We felt like this hotel, while not the least expensive, provided a good value for us.

Yelp
This hotel has a fabulous breakfast buffet. Probably the best breakfast we've ever had anywhere. It is incredibly extensive, varied, flavorful, fresh, generous, Etc. The room was clean and neat. Has all the amenities you need except for luggage racks and it could use a larger sink and hair conditioner. The front desk staff was very accommodating when we requested that our room be moved. The night before we were unable to sleep due to loud noises coming from the restaurant and bar directly across the street. Therefore if you stay here request a room that does not face Rosenkrantz Street. We suggested to the front desk that they obtain White Noise machines since this is not a new problem and affects many people on that side of the hotel on the first few floors. The hotel is very well situated about 15 minutes from many of the popular sites and good restaurants. It is also reasonably priced.

Yelp
Thon Rosenkrantz Oslo was highly recommended and deservedly so. Beautiful hotel. Very nice new/modern room (although the standard room is *very* small). Conveniently located. Friendly/helpful staff. And a great included breakfast (and a small dinner too!). Three big problems though: The rooms have no air conditioning, which can make it difficult to sleep in the summer. Also, make sure that you do not get a room that faces the very loud music club that is directly across the street. And finally, the hotel did not tell anyone that the trains were not running on the day that we left, and we could have missed our fight! So all in all, a good hotel, but not great.

Yelp
This hotel is rated fairly expensive, but when you consider the amazing breakfast buffet AND the supper that comes with, I think it's good value for money. We were upgraded to a suite because the TV in our first room didn't work. That was really nice. But even the smaller room was very comfortable, with hangers that come off (the hotel hangers that are attached are a pet peeve of mine), and space to put your stuff. The breakfast buffet included great breads, many cheeses, eggs, fruit, yogurt, cottage cheese, several kinds of fish, veggies, pancakes, and meats (which we don't eat), as well as coffee, tea, and juices. Really ample. The simple supper was a pasta dish, fixings for sandwiches, and great potatoes. You can buy a beer or glass of wine.

Yelp
Yes, yes and yes! I need to start this review by saying that breakfast is a major factor to me, and this amazing (and included) breakfast was a serious highlight for the trip. Not to mention the fact that its walking distance to a lot of sightseeing, and the design was fun & funky. Oh, and the included "light dinner" was a very nice touch, especially since I could get coffee after the long trip to help with the jetlag...
