Well. We chose the THON Terminus largely because of the location. It was very close to a venue where we were going to be seeing a concert and got decent reviews. We booked a Junior Suite and were checked into room 232 when we arrived.
The hotel itself is ... like wanna be swanky. That's the best way I can describe it. It seems like maybe this hotel was really kind of crazy and bold design-wise and it just hasn't been kept up since it was opened. There are a lot of bright colors, crazy wallpaper patterns, swanky rugs and chairs, etc. The other thing that really kind of bothered us is the hotel seemed to be almost empty. We did see other guests but not many, and it seemed like the staff of the hotel used the free self-serve coffee machine more than the non-existent guests. But the fact that we were seemingly two of a handful of guests in an entire large hotel made it seem kind of eerie. This was not helped by the fact that our room happened to be tucked away in this dark back corner of the second floor... you had to walk through the cafeteria type area where they served breakfast and through a lounge area that looks like it was designed for a movie or a porno flick (sorry.... it's true). It sometimes felt like we were walking to our room through a completely empty hotel.
Our room continued this swanky decor, with brightly colored velvet chairs and the most cool, most outrageous iridescent tiger headboard on our bed. We were super into that tiger headboard. See my pics. It was really nuts.
However, our room was suffering in the upkeep department... the six chairs at the full dining room table had a number of stains and spots on them that looked well... suspicious. And very much like I did not want to sit on them. It was kind of like that throughout the room and the hotel honestly. Things were generally kind of run down or worn and though the room WAS clean and the bed WAS very comfy, I didn't feel like it met the cleanliness standard for a big-time hotel, especially one I know is part of a big chain.
Then, when we were set to check out, we inquired about possibly getting a late checkout because we did not have a flight until the evening. We were told twice that it was not possible, and when I pushed them on it, we were told this was because there was only one room in the whole hotel like ours and someone was coming in to stay in it. This struck me as odd since there was like zero indication on the website that "junior suite" was some sort of very special type of room. But fyi apparently there is only one of these rooms in this whole hotel, so if you have your heart set on a junior suite, don't dally.
We did like this hotel's location, which was near a lot of random indoor shopping mall type places. We had a lot of fun adventuring around and exploring the dining options across the street. It did make it awfully easy to go run and grab something, which was also a bonus. But in reality, this was one hotel we stayed at during our extended European adventure, and out of eight hotels we stayed in, in eight different locations, this was our least favorite. Take that for what you will. But if they ever want to sell that headboard, hit me up.
