Thongbay Guesthouse Luang Prabang

We had an incredible stay at Thongbay! The whole team is very attentive and friendly, always there to help and make sure everything is going well ! The breakfast is very high quality and complete, brought to the room or the terrace by a lovely team. The manager was very nice, he hired scooters for us and bought bus tickets for our next destination. It's a real haven of peace and tranquillity, surrounded by vegetation. The room was very clean and well equipped. The location of the hotel is not a problem at all ! Bicycles and shuttles are available free of charge. In less than ten minutes you're in the centre! And you can even get there on foot, it doesn't take very long. It's worth being a little further away for the peace and quiet and the quality of service.

Our stay at Thongbay Guesthouse was absolutely perfect! The beautiful garden is a true oasis of calm and the bungalows are cozy, clean and well maintained. The pool area is a peaceful oasis with plenty of shady spots. We were particularly impressed by the warm hospitality of the whole team.||The breakfast was delicious and the homemade cake a dream! This was the perfect stay - from the start being given welcome drink and a delicious chocolate cake and all the information we could need for our stay in Luang Prabang. We stayed in a river view villa- where we were served breakfast every morning which was delicious and running theme of the food here. On Christmas evening they hosted a special buffet meal with music and dance for all the guest staying where we felt very welcome and at ease. No pushiness to participate in activity at all just a sense of welcome to share in the meal. We ordered room service and it was perfect overlooking Mekong eating delicious food in peace . The layout of the resort is also lovely can wander through lush gardens and loads of little pockets to sit and relax and a spotless pool with loungers . What really makes this place stand out tho is every single one of the staff are really kind- always greeted with a smile and checking in to see if you needed anything. House keeping was also spotless fresh towels when needed. Don’t hesitate to book as the distance outside the center they have a shuttle bus available 6times a day. We chose to walk a few times and it was a breeze.

Comfortable room, with balcony facing the river, complimentary shuttle service several times a day to the city and excellent service! Mr T is very experienced and was always present at the entrance area every day, ready to help with any of our questions. His team are also friendly. Could feel that they sincerely want all guests to enjoy their stay. We stayed for 3 nights with our 2 kids in the River View Bungalow, booked with them directly via WhatsApp. Although this guesthouse might seem a bit further from the city compared to others, but the spacious room, great service and complimentary shuttle made up for it. Also, breakfast is served right to our room at our preferred timing every morning! Would definitely recommend them.

Excellent place. Very warm welcome and friendly staff. You don't just rent a room, but are really taken care of, in a very warm way. Nice authenic rooms with a terrace with view on the river. Free bike usage to explore the city (perfect way to do so), and a free shuttle service as well. They go the extra mile to ensure you have a good experience! We stayed in another hotel in Luang Prabang too, but this is by far better price/quality! Just another level. Strongly recommended!!

Back after 14 years because I loved it so much last time. Just a very special place run by a very polite family and staff. Now with a pool which was nice in the hot afternoon. Room service breakfast, helpful with tours, free bikes to borrow, wine ($) in the evening on our verandah. Maybe (and I say maybe because I never tried) a bit far to walk to the old centre for some people but they had shuttles and bikes so I never had a problem.

10/10 all around. Seriously. I’m already trying to squeeze Laos again next year just to come back to here and explore more. Everything was perfect. The room, the reception, the food, everything. I just randomly came across this on Expedia and gave it a go. I had a bungalow with river view and the room was large and clean. The bed is comfortable and the wifi is fast, strong and reliable. You have a security guard at night that takes care of the property. Both hosts at reception were lovely (thank you Puna for everything, sorry if I spelled that wrong) and just overall great hotel. It’s a little outside the city center, like 5-8 minutes tops. You can walk too if you’d like but I had a short stay and opted to use the LOCA app for transportation even though they had a shuttle schedule to and from the city center at various hours. Also the little frogs help you sleep at night, like nature’s lullaby.

This place far exceeded my expectations. The grounds are lovely, you walk through a garden to get to the bungalows on the river. The service is impeccable, down to the little details but also with a warmth that feels like a family welcoming you as new friends vibe rather than servants sucking up to you. Just ridiculously nice and helpful people. Informative check in. There's a pool with sun chairs if you get tired of chilling on the balcony. Food is fantastic, from breakfast delivered to your door to dinner (try the lemon coconut chicken, you'll thank me later). Rooms are in good condition with ac and fan. Wifi everywhere. The only reason this might not be for everyone is it isn't downtown -- but that's also a plus for the peace and quiet and there are free shuttles there and back six times a day (and it's super cheap and quick if the times don't work for you). An absolute steal at this price and if you think it's not a good place to stay there's something seriously wrong with you.
