Thornbank House

We were met with a warm welcome from Fiona.|Everything was of a very high standard, warm and beautifully presented.|The location and views were perfect. Excellent breakfast choices were served in a beautiful dining room. Our room was spacious, with a large ensuite and serviced daily.|The pool facilities were excellent.|Jim treated us to a preview of their Christmas lights.|We enjoyed a fabulous November 6 night stay in their beautiful home.|We intend to return in the spring.|Victoria and Peter

Lovely place to stay - comfortable room with nice bedding and pillows, sparkly clean bathroom and an amazing view out of the window. We had the room with the balcony and it would be a lovely spot for a glass of wine. It was a bit too rainy when we arrived but the view in the sunshine the next morning was a great start to the day. The breakfast was delicious and there was a friendly welcome. The added bonus was the pool - I really enjoyed a swim after a few hours in the car. We stayed overnight before getting the ferry from Cairnryan (10 minutes drive away around the loch) but could have quite happily spent a few days here.

Fiona was so welcoming. Thornbank House is absolutely beautiful. Our room was spotlessly clean and had everything we needed. Loved the swimming pool and the hot tub too. The bed was very comfortable and we could really get used to waking up to that amazing view everyday! Breakfast was delicious and freshly cooked for us. There was also cereals, yogurt, cereal bars and a freshly made fruit salad. My husband had a full Scottish breakfast and I had scrambled eggs & smoked salmon, both were amazing. Cant wait to visit again, thank you so much Fiona for your hospitality.

Excellent property. Very clean and well maintained. A lovely lady showed us around, very polite and helpful. We had an early boat to catch so she made us breakfast to take away. Lovely views. The pool is great. Would highly recommend and will visit again.

If there is a better B&B in the UK I haven’t found it. The room was enormous, the bathroom with jacuzzi equally so, but it was the views that blew me away. I didn’t stop for breakfast nor did I use the pool but wow what a place. Fantastic value for money as well.

Went for our honeymoon, was absolutely amazing! 😍 The hospitality, the view, breakfast, the pool. Everything was just absolutely amazing and it's also just a short walk from the beach. Had such a pleasant stay, I felt so bad I didn't get to leave a little gift for the owner but definitely will in the future, she's so nice. Definitely will be back as soon as the opportunity presents itself! 😊❤️

An absolute hidden marvel with panoramic views out to sea and hills with breathtaking sunsets. The lights from Stranraer glistening across the water and oh so peaceful. I could go on, but there's so much more to tell... The spacious berooms with crisp white linen, decorated stylishly throughout with a modern twist, are really stunning. Spotlessly presented with everything your heart desires. I've never seen a cleaner nor shinier, spacious bathroom anywhere! Just absolutely immaculate.||Apart from the humongous private Swimming Pool and Hot Tub area this beautiful house is set in it's own grounds with private drive and parking.||Although the 'stars' of this show are definitely the Proprietors... from the warm welcome, taking us into town when our cab didn't appear and relentlessly making us feel at home.|To top it all a magnificent delicious Scottish breakfast cooked to perfection with excellent local produce.||Thank you Fiona and Jim, you really made our stay very special x

We have just returned from a wonderful stay at Thornbank House Stranraer. We stayed for six nights in a room with a fantastic view across Loch Ryan and the surrounding area. The hotel is spotlessly clean with all areas well provisioned, nicely decorated, and comfortable |Our room was very spacious with an ensuit bathroom and a large shower. All linen and towells were high quality, and the bed was comfortable. The hotel is located in a quiet area with minimum noise apart from bird song, so we slept very well. There is all the amenities you would require in the room, fridge, TV , kettle , tea coffee etc , hair dryer , bath robes.Secure parking at the hotel is also great.We had our little dog with us and there is easy access to the beach front and the large garden secure garden to the front of the property. Breakfast provided a wide selection from cereal to cooked selection, which was excellent! The host Fiona was always available, and nothing was too much trouble. She even packed a picnic for my dogs journey home. We would definitely stay here again and feel it is value for money given the location, facilities of an indoor pool and spa bath, and the all-around quality provided. A great break in a great place what more can you ask for. ||
