Positives:
The beer that was available was of good quality and the prices are reasonable.
The pizza is tasty.
Nicely decorated taproom.
Good cask beer options.
Negatives:
The beer selection is not very broad. Multiple IPAs, lagers, a stout, a wheat beer and a cider. No fruited beers, no sour beers, not even available in the on site shop for those that only enjoy this type of beer as one of our members visiting was.
Reserved tables, whilst I understand that a Saturday afternoon would be busy, there are instances where we'd be on a table that wasn't reserved, to then have a reservation notice put on the table. This means you end up moving around the taproom, if you're lucky finding a non-reserved table and having to clear the previous occupants empty glasses and plates, to then repeat this a little while later.
I may just have been unlucky, but the bar staff didn't seem very friendly or enthusiastic about the beer that they are serving. I appreciate that, again, they were busy, but it very much just felt like 'we just work here' as opposed to having any sort of passion about the beer that they were serving.
I was at the taproom 2 years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it, their beer selection was more varied in terms of styles, so perhaps with Thornbridge Brewery ever growing in popularity they are brewing for the taste of the masses and not serving these niche beers as they have done in the past in the taproom, a shame but understandable.
Still worth a visit if you're in the area, the beer they did have was very good, but book a table.
