This Scenic 105-mile Drive in Virginia Has 70 Scenic Overlooks in an Iconic National Park
"I considered entering via the Thornton Gap entrance (mile 31.5) near Luray, Virginia when planning the trip, since it's one of the four primary access points." - Madeline Weinfield
This is another beautiful location to take in the scenery along Skyline Drive in Shenandoah national Park.
Through this park, along skyline Drive or some of the most breathtaking overlooks you could see. Such a beautiful ride, especially in the fall.

Entered at Thornton's Gap and hiked to Mary's Rock. The trail is a solid moderately challenging hike with a big payoff. Sitting at the summit in the cool weather, we could see for miles and miles, and it's a prime local for viewing the hawk migration. Enjoyed every step.

The foliage color is now at its peak
Don't miss the opportunity to visit the park, we have people from around the world coming to see this and we are close to it

We did the drive from Thornton Gap to Front Royal entrance. Beautiful scenery and took a little over an hour with stopping at a few but not all overlooks.

I mean, come on! It's Skyline Drive! 😊
Best to go in the fall when leaves are changing. But any time is great. Be careful on the roads! Take it easy, don't get squirrelly or you'll slide off the road!

My favorite way to enter Shenandoah National Park. Less crowded than Front Royal.
