Thornton Hall Hotel & Spa

Stayed on a Monday/Tuesday. Check in 3pm but spa access from 12 which is great. However robes are not included, we had to pay £8 per robe to ‘rent’ them for the day. Make sure to bring your flip lops too as they charge you to buy theirs. We had lovely weather so sat outside all afternoon which had lots of seating and loungers and a couple of sunken jacuzzi’s. An added bonus was the staff would bring your drinks out to you. However if you go and the weather isn’t nice enough to sit outside there are not enough seats or loungers inside the spa so you would struggle to sit and relax/read. There’s also not enough hooks to hang your robes/towel on. The room we had was lovely - clean, bright and had a nespresso and mini fridge. We went to the main restaurant to eat in the evening and while it had lovely views over the gardens it wasn’t great for veggie gluten free so we went to the spa restaurant which had lots more choices and was much better value. In the main restaurant it’s £25-£35 for a main meal. The staff there were really friendly in the hotel and spa. Overall we would go back but only when the weather was nice.

If I had the option I would give 3.5. ||We stayed for one Saturday night. Reception was bright and modern with helpful and friendly staff.||Spa was lovely, had no treatment so can’t comment. Food in the Brasserie was really good, ample portions and tasted lovely. Only downside was all the tablets were reserved so was extremely lucky to get a table, many didn’t. Can’t fault the spa except there were no relaxation beds so you had to keep moving. ||For a Saturday night you would expect full availability on all the beer pumps but no draught cider and no Estella. ||The restaurant although a lovely setting was very expensive and overpriced for average food. Breakfast was good with great choice.||On the whole we had a great stay but felt ripped off in the restaurant. Next time we will stay and use the spa but not have an evening meal.

Thank you so much for an outstanding stay. Brought my 2 daughters for their birthdays. Stunning place. The decor was to die for all freshly painted and decorated . Stunning furniture. The meals were beautiful especially the afternoon tea. Karl made us feel very special. Thank you to the wonderful stuff for making our stay so special. Daughter loved the bottle of Prosecco in the room and the happy birthday plate with the yummy chocolate brownies on

Visited with my mum for a much needed spa break in May. Positives Our room was lovely and the bar area was lovely. We had food from the cafe area as we hadn't booked a table in the restaurant as they were full, but the food was great from there. All the staff were nice and approachable. Spa had a good system where you can order drinks from the outside pool area (it was sunny), 2 drink limit. Breakfast was incredible, buffet style but was all fresh. Negatives My spa treatment was only 20 minutes when it should have been 30 minutes. The therapist seemed disinterested, music went off halfway through the treatment and didn't turn it back on (I think the music is one of the elements of relaxation). She was yawning and just not not friendly. Later saw her in the bar area drinking. Made a complaint on departure and I'm still to hear from the hotel. One guest at the bar area 'kicked off', obviously drunk and had found a way round their 2 drink limit in the spa. Accusing me of jumping the queue, which is just pathetic when there was on myself and them. 🙄 The spa outside area was so so busy (we arrived earlier and managed to have a bed before our treatments), feel like there should be more of a limit or time frame so it isn't so congested in the hot tubs etc. I would stay again, but if I was to receive another poor treatment I'd ask to speak to the manager there and then and ask for my money back. As a mum with 2 young children I was looking forward to my treatment and relaxation time.

We were really looking forward to our stay here, but sadly it was a big disappointment and not at all what you would expect from a 4-star hotel. The entire place feels run down, uncared for, and in serious need of investment and attention to detail. Our room was particularly poor. The wallpaper was ripped in several places, the walls were chipped and marked, and there was a thick layer of dust on the lamps and in the wallpaper detailing. We also noticed cobwebs in the corners, which clearly hadn’t been cleaned for some time. It was obvious that housekeeping is not being done thoroughly, and the overall cleanliness left a lot to be desired. Unfortunately, the issues weren’t limited to the room. The hotel grounds were messy, with discarded beer bottles left around, which creates a really bad first impression and shows a lack of care. This is simply not the standard you’d expect for the price or the 4-star rating. The hotel has potential, but it urgently needs a full refurbishment, a deep clean, and much better attention to housekeeping and maintenance to bring it up to a proper standard. At the moment, it feels neglected and well below expectations

Nice spa experience and lovely staff. Rooms all clean and well presented. Sadly no vegan starters or mains in the main restaurant we wanted to eat in, we got sent to the brasserie however and they catered for us with a delicious dhaal curry. Only negative is having to pay for robes and flip-flops, other spas include this at no extra cost. That aside I'd deffo visit again.

We recently stayed using a package deal and I thought it was well worth the money.||All the staff we spoke to were so friendly and helpful.|Grounds were beautifully maintained.|The spa was nice and clean, plenty of facilities.|Our room was nice, big comfy bed and lots of space.|We really enjoyed our meal at the Grill, good quality steak, amazing peppercorn sauce and the cocktails were sooo good. |I loved the interior and character within the main areas of the hotel.|Thankyou Thornton hall for a wonderful birthday stay, Really looking forward to visiting again.

Summer 2010 is turning out to be a scorcher!!! For the life of me I can't remember enjoying the summer this much!!! Gorgeous consistent hot weather and sporting events galore... This means of course you have more and more people looking at local options, and weekend getaways. Enter Thornton Hall, another 4* spa hotel nestled in the Wirral countryside only 20 minutes drive from Liverpool. The place is a green oasis, to savor. The emphasis here is very much on relaxation, with serene setting sauna, indoor pool and jacuzzi as well as the fantastic spa facilities. Think weekend pampering break think Thornton hall. From £85 per person you can get 3 course meal one night stay, full breakfast and access to all spa facilities. There are other packages available to suit your every other need. So if you are looking for an opulent alternative to your normal weekend excursions this is definitely the place for you my friends!! A place to wine and dine to impress that special someone before pampering them. It'll be worth it I promise.

For mother's day 2010, my sister and I treated mother dearest to a nights stay in Thornton Hall. I could not go, but heard no end of praise for the place from each of them! For £100 per person they received dinner bed and breakfast and one free treatment as well as full access to all of the facilities including the gym, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi. Mum loved it all: the food, especially the breakfast was very generous and just delicious, the treatments were excellent and the staff were great. I think she was most impressed by the location and the hotel in general; the hotel is quite isolated (and thus possibly difficult to get to via public transport, the staff were unsure of the nearest bus stop or train station..) but this adds to the serenity. The hall is, by all accounts, beautiful, luxurious and one of the best spa retreats around.

Thornton Hall is my favourite eating place. The afternoon menu, although small, offers a selection of good quality, well prepared, tasty food at a reasonable price and with excellent service in a beautiful location. We often stop off for a coffee or lime and soda in the bar, this is a great place to relax before a meeting, have a small one-to-one informal meeting or just as a stop-off location between Wirral and Chester. It seems from other comments that when they are good they are very very good but when they are bad they are horrid!!!!

Thornton Hall is one of the most luxurious places to stay if you're visiting the Wirral. Thornton Hough is a great affluent area itself, with great little eateries and shops and walks, but this place is the jewel in the crown! Not only is this place very popular with weddings, balls, business trips and eloquent parties, but it also boasts an indoor spa! The spa includes an indoor heated swimming pool, indoor hot tubs, massage and various skincare treatments. Rooms start at £110 per night, with breakfast included! The staff are excellent, very polite, well mannered and incredibly helpful. The views of the hotel grounds are breathtaking and the food in the restaurant is top class. A friend of mine used to chef here and said it was one of the most professional environments he had ever worked in as a chef! Which is great to hear! This place is very popular with weddings and may be a venue worth checking out if you're planning the big day!

Not very impressed with this hotel, the surrounds , gardens etc are beautiful and the entrance is lovely but i went with my friends to a christmas party, disco was very very loud, food very poor and next day had food poisining and a few of us had it so beware, supposed to be going to a wedding there this year but really dont know whether to take the chance.Wasnt impressed with the staff either friends of our went and wanted to pay the bill at the end of the night with a credit card but was told no they dont accept credit cards only cash as luck would have it our friends had the cash on them but was annoyed that they had been refused to use there card, so they phoned up the following day and asked if they could pay for there meal with a credit card if they booked a table and the member of staff said yes no problem so they then explained what had happened the day before, noone was there to give an answer so as my friend said there faces obviously didnt fit!!!!
