The 22 Best Bakeries In Seattle - Seattle - The Infatuation

"We could count on one hand all of the big M&M cookies we’ve come across in Seattle. But, our absolute favorite is at Three Girls Bakery, which is really just a big glass pastry case and a cash register. All of the baked goods are excellent, from the peanut butter cookie stuffed with an entire Reese’s cup to the raspberry shortbread crumble bar. Just don't forget a shortbread round topped with a huge glob of chocolate ganache." - Aimee Rizzo

Google
We stopped in Three Girls Bakery for a quick lunch bite across from the Pike Fish Market. Service was good, especially from the girl/lady behind the seated counter area who prepared the meatloaf sandwich. Fortunately, we asked her to split it and she plated half on 2 plates for us. See the attached picture to see how huge a half sandwich is! The meatloaf itself was a bit dry and more like a medium well hamburger patty than a moist meatloaf with seasoning inside. HOWEVER, that seasonings put on top/ below the meat slice were absolutely delicious! I highly recommend you try it, or one of the other sandwiches!!!! Atmosphere is what you expect for a walk up with a few seats at a counter, in a busy market area. YUM

Good stuff here. Between my spouse and I we had a ham and Swiss croissant, and bacon and egg croissant, a chocolate croissant, and a blueberry and lemon muffin. All of them were good and the prices were reasonable for what we got. The cashier was friendly and moved the short line along quickly. Finding the shop was a bit of a process but that was more of an us problem haha. Worth a visit, and revisit honestly.

Google
We had passed this place a couple times in our Pike Place Market adventures, so I decided to stop by here for some small snacks. I ordered the almond delight and the spinach and feta crossaint. The prices were incredibly reasonable for baked goods, which I was pleasantly surprised by. There was one person ahead of us in line, but that went by pretty quickly. I then went up to the window and told the person what I wanted, and they got it for me, and then I paid. The almond delight was really good. The spinach and feta crossaint was good, too. I think it could have used a little more feta flavor, but overall, for how much it was, I cannot complain too much. I would definitely come back here if I were in the area and try more of what they have!

Google
Went for breakfast had the breakfast sandwitch which is a croissant stuffed with egg, cheese and ham. All though expensive at $15.60 dollars with sales tax. It tasted great and filled me up. The place is also open from 7 a.m. which great as a lot of places are closed till later.

The first business license given to women in Washington state in 1912. Amazingly delicious French style pastries and breads. We tried a few different varieties and loved them all.

Google
My wife and I visited 3 Girls Bakery on Sun morning, all of the staff was extremely friendly and the food was amazing! If you are in the Seattle area for sure give this place a try. You will not regret it! +++++ :^)

Google
This little bakery in the middle of Pikes Place. Is absolutely delightful. From the pastries to the hot breakfast croissant sandwiches.. which the eggs were cooked perfectly not too over and fluffy and moist. Which I was there pretty much every morning of my stay in Seattle. Will definitely comeback to try more on the menu.

Google
We wanted a treat for dessert and to have later so we found this fun place! Everything from the breads to the cookies and pastries looked amazing! We ordered a toffee cookie, an M&M cookie, and a peanut butter cookie. They were ALL delicious! Can’t wait to go back for more!

Yelp
Amazing breads and desserts. I have a sister that lives in Seattle. Whenever I visit, I shop at Pike Place for provisions to make dinner while there (I'm a Chef in San Diego). Three Girls Bakery is on my short list of must-have staples for dinner. It's counter service, so after waiting in a short line I give the person at the register my order for bread and a few dessert bars, and they are in my hands and paid for very speedily. Because they are adjacent to the big market, the ambience is a little "hustle and bustle", but the service and the breads are top-notch! I visit my sister twice a year, and never miss an opportunity to buy bread at Three Sisters while there. Their amazing breads accompany all my dinners that I make while visiting, and I'm always sure to take a loaf or two home with me to San Diego for later.

Yelp
Famous bakery located in Pike Place Market, and a must visit if you like women owned businesses. It actually has an interesting history about it. Three Girls was the first licensed woman owned business in Seattle. Also it's the oldest continuously operating business in the market. You can get classic baked goods and pastries. Basically a lot of family owned businesses are in the market including this bakery. It was opened in 1912. This was owned by women at a time it was hard for women to be business owners. Over the years it has changed in ownership, but still has had the same classic baked goods. The Levy family has owned it since 1979, and has served favorites including their famous meatloaf sandwich. A few vegan options to get. It's about $4 to get a palmier. These come in a few flavors including cinnamon and sugar. Classic bakery with lots of favorites along with a few newer items. It's located along Pike Place. There's baked goods like loaves, as well as pastries like cookies, some of which are okay for vegans.

Yelp
Besides the bakery (very delicious options), Three Girls Bakery) also provides great options for breakfast and lunch. I had the egg and meat (bacon) sandwich (croissant bread). The sandwich really hit the spot. The service was excellent. It's a cool little spot, next to the bakery. You can have your meal rather counter or take it to go. This is a great place to stop for a delicious treat, whether it's a baked good or a sandwich) while visiting the Public Market Center in Seattle.

Yelp
I saw, I came, I conquered. The spinach croissant with feta was warm and delicious. It is perfect for breakfast or a nice snack while walking through the market. Highly recommend

Yelp
Located at Pikes Place in Seattle...this is a shining star in a sea of stars...hard to choose...the pastries...they all look great...eat first, for God's sake don't go looking while you are hungry...we got 4 different things and we could have gotten more...they didn't last 3 or 4 blocks...a cup of great coffee, a bag of pastries from 3 Girls, beautiful weather...all in all, a great day...i would have posted photos, but we ate the subjects....

Yelp
I had noticed this store in the last days every time I visited and after reading on Yelp I decided to make a visit. There was a little wait, one lady only was working in the window. There's a vending window and then further there's an inside seated area. Everything is displayed and then you also got a menu. I checked out the cookies and wanted a few but decided to start with one and glad I did. $2.50 is a good price however I did not like the cookie at all. I had the oatmeal raisin but it could have been any other cookie. It tasted just very sugary and the consistency was not good: tough and chewy and hard. Hope other items are better and this was just bad luck..,,

Yelp
I love that all items can easily be seen easily on the street. I felt a little stressed trying to look while there was a line. I didn't want to cut, I just can't see from far away. I think I just chose the wrong item. I did the Raspberry Cream Cheese Danish. There was more dough than filling. The dough was a little tough and didn't taste right to me. I do want to try different items the next time I go.

Yelp
This review is on my lunch sandwich experience not the bread or bakery products. The place was dead on a busy Christmas Eve, order a Ruben and the "famous Meatloaf sandwich". Both were extremely underwhelming and also just assembled sloppy. Would not recommend for sandwiches, also the service not impressive for only 2 couples in the place.
google avatar

Yelp
This place is located across from the Pike Place Market sign. It has a window that features all of the freshly baked goods and a small seating area inside if you want to dine there too. I've been here several times and enjoyed everything I've had from here. My favorite things to get here are: ciabatta loaf and lemon bars. I enjoy the shortbread they use for their dessert bars. You can also order hot food items such as breakfast sandwiches & lunch too. I'd highly recommend coming here.

Yelp
This is our go-to bakery in downtown. Located in Pike Place Market, we grab loaves and single serve goodies from Three Girls on each visit to Seattle. We haven't eaten in the small attached restaurant, so I cannot comment on that, but the menu looks pretty nice and reasonably priced. There is always a bit of a line to order/pay at the window. While in line, we take turns scoping out the day's offerings displayed in the windows. Don't worry. The line moves fairly quickly. Over the years, we've had a huge variety of interesting breads, pastries, cookies, and other baked goods, and have enjoyed each. It would be foolish to try and describe each, and I'm not feeling all that foolish today. Lucky you! I've attached a couple of photos of today's choices.

Yelp
Couldn't resist trying this place when I visited Seattle- my sister in law said this place has been around for 100 years and I believe it- tucked away the eating area and ambiance had small tables that were cozy and intimate for eating off the bustling pike market My nephew had a chocolate croissant (no photos because he ate it so fast) and I enjoyed this amazing berry scone
google avatar

Yelp
Fantastic selection and the croissants are awesome. Was expecting a bakery and it has a stop-and-go cafe vibe. Staff was super friendly and everything is baked perfectly. Got 2 breakfast croissants and they were delicious. I don't like hot breakfast sandwiches and I don't feel I was missing anything, by having them at room temp, they were spot on. So glad I don't live here, because I'd be steadily putting on weight coming here all the time. There's a little seating area right next door. Kind of looks like a sushi counter.
google avatar

Yelp
Such wonderfully baked bread and cookies! Everything was very reasonably priced. We tried the rye bread and it was a decent size, so fluffy, and tasted great. Their cookies were also super delicious. Would definitely come back to try their hot sandwiches.
google avatar

Jillian V.

Yelp
I got one of the lavender shortbread cookies and it was beautiful and delicious. I also had a peanut butter cookie which was also good, but not as good as the shortbread.
google avatar

Yelp
Love this place... I will definitely come back here when I am in the area. A mom and pop with amazing staff and delicious selection of pastry and bread . I'll see you soon :)
google avatar

Meg M.

Yelp
This place is amazing! Bagel with Lox fully loaded was so good. Also had a pastry. We went here the first day of our trip and I couldn't stop thinking about it the rest of our trip! Welcoming atmosphere and service was good.
google avatar

Kelly I.

Yelp
Right in the beginning of the market so has perfect quick market ambiance you'd expect to see! Friendly service and pastries were flakey and filling! Was here on vacation and the bacon cheddar pastry was the perfect airplane snack in the morning! Came here 2/3 days we were staying downtown! Also got rosemary and sea salt bread... so fragrant and (maybe Maui just makes dense bread) but perfect texture! Can't wait to come back!

Yelp
They have the best items to go with coffee or a night you need the urge for something sweet. To finish the day near Pike Street Market, we chose to pick some goodies to enjoy back in our hotel room. I wanted their raspberry bar and shortbread cookie and my girlfriend was prepared to take on their giant chocolate chip cookie. Everything is behind glass displays and I don't know how they did it but the space inside is so small to even bake stuff. Nonetheless, they get a lot of delicious stuff out (including loaves of bread) and the choices I made were terrific. All three of our items were so good. Definitely don't less this place pass by you as you walk around this busy part of downtown Seattle.

Yelp
There are a lot of subpar tourist traps in Pike Place Market, but this (literally) hole in the wall bakery is not a gimmick. Prices are extremely reasonable for being a local business in a prime location. Breads are fantastic, cookies and sweet treats are better than average, IMO. I work in an office tucked behind Pike Place and I'll swing by this bakery once a week or so to pick up some fresh bread. The loafs are great, baguettes are just right, challah bread is delicious. And everything seems to be baked fresh daily. Local, daily baked bread at just a few bucks? The loafs all range from 3-5 bucks which is more than fair. Their sweet treats are good, but I'm not a huge sweets person. The m&m cookies are always a safe bet for me. At 2.50, again, great value.
google avatar

Krys G.

Yelp
Lined up one Saturday morning to get some sourdough bread and dessert. Service went smoothly. The people working behind the counter did an awesome job. They were quick and very friendly. I got a sourdough baguette and some peanut butter cookies. The sourdough had a great flavor. It was a little too crusty and hard for me but the family liked it. I loved the peanut butter cookies. There was a whole peanut butter cup in the middle of each cookie. I would totally get them again.
google avatar

Laura J.

Yelp
Only tried their strawberry cheesecake muffin, but it was delicious. I was pretty full but I still ate the whole thing within minutes. It was fluffy and dense at the same time and really liked that it was not too sweet. They also had a lot of other delicious looking pastries that I wish I got to try. They also look super fresh.
google avatar

Alexa F.

Yelp
Line may look long but goes by quick. Tried a lot- lavender Cookie, choc drop, double ohs, and nutty brownie. Choc drop was yummy thick dense cookie with thick choc frosting on top. Double ohs we're Reese's pb cup in a pb cookie. All good!
google avatar

Jason G.

Yelp
This is my go to place for fresh baked bread. I have tried all the different varieties and they're all very good. I also like their cookies and pastries but the bread is the best around.
google avatar

Jennifer L.

Yelp
Tried chocolate chip and peanut chip cookies here as well as a pecan pie bar. The cookies were really dry and not very good. Pecan pie bar was decent. Another friend had a shortbread cookie and said it was better than the other cookies. The line to order was lengthy. Prices were ok. I liked that they don't overcharge for bottled water. But in my opinion, don't get the cookies.
google avatar

Ryan O.

Yelp
What a great place to get a snack. After a long day of adventuring in Seattle we ended up at the Famous Pikes Place market. Our family tried their fudge brownie, peanut chip cookie, peanut butter cookie, lavender shortcake bar. It was the end of the day so the selection wasn't that big but all things bought were absolutely delicious. I would suggest getting there earlier than the end of the day. Would recommend again.

Is Guac Extra? D.

Yelp
THE BEST pastries and bread I've had in Seattle. I highly recommend going there for treats at the market: lemon bars, pecan bars, sour dough bread, muffins, etc. But I have to push back on how 19% is the lowest tip option. Yes, I know I can select custom, but it's not the point. I ordered several items and the entire effort was the young individual reaching for muffins: 19% came to a $3.25 tip for him basically mumbling after I greeted him, no eye contact, no thank you, etc. And it's happened with other persons who work there (the younger ones). And sure, maybe a portion of the tips go to the bakers, that's fine. But I'm already paying more for shopping at Pike Place and buying bread from you. I really hope the business thrives, I do. But I don't *have* to shop there. I hope management either helps their younger employees understand that tipping isn't an entitlement and that being personable goes A LONG way or changes the lowest tip option to 10% which is reasonable for begrudgingly putting a muffin into a bag.

Yelp
- Peanut chip cookie - Toffee cookie - Fudge brownie * 8/10 * Showcasing all of these incredible desserts is dangerous, because it's so hard to say no! We got the peanut butter chocolate chip cookie, a classic cookie. Chewy on the inside and crispy on the outside. The fudge brownie was fudgy chocolate goodness. A perfect end to lunch. ^@kamibites on Instagram

Yelp
Quick and delicious sandwiches. Had a pike girl, a French dip, and sat at the mini bar, would recommend.
google avatar

Nava O.

Yelp
A cute little bakery right in Pike Place Market. I tried their herbed focaccia bread and a couple of their cookies. Delicious! The bread probably had a little bit too many herbs on there, so the focaccia tasted a little off to me, but other than that, it was crusty on the outside and fluffy inside. Prices are definitely Pike Place prices, but affordable enough to try. Everything is in a case, and when you're ready, just go to the booth where someone will grab your order and take your payment. Staff is friendly and knows their products. Try some of their pastries and purchase a loave of bread to try.
google avatar

Priscilla L.

Yelp
Sorry I don't have a photo to upload, since I been using my digital camera mostly to document my stay up here in Seattle. But like with all bakeries it's a hit or miss. I bought the chocolate chip cookie for $2.50 and a peanut oh for $2.50. I ate both of them and the Peanut Oh that's is near the window of the cashier really stood out in flavor and taste. So I recommend that but you need to like both peanut butter and chocolate. Yummy in my tummy for sure. Although it was a smaller size pastries both were tasty and different from what I was used to like the cookie. It was fresh and texture was different. For sure it's better than a Chips Ahoy. LoL it just didn't wow me like the Peanut Butter Oh. Other pasteurized looked interesting like the Hand made Mounds covered in chocolate, but you need to like coconuts. The chocolate covered ones looks very tempting to me.
google avatar

Tamie F.

Yelp
Loved this little piece of history with amazing pastries! This is said to be the first women-owned business license in Seattle issued in 1912. It's family owned now, and you can see the history when ordering from the counter or at the bar with a few tables. Quaint and adorable! I came for the history but I'll be back for the pastries! The gluten free chocolate macaroon was delicious...I want another! I also enjoyed the raspberry cream cheese danish and the strawberry cheesecake muffin. If we weren't traveling the same day, I would have loved getting some bread too. Go there, eat everything!
google avatar

Sun H.

Yelp
It's a really nice bakery both the dine in and selling pastries. Staying at Palihotel Seattle very next to the Public Market, got up early in the morning like 6am, and my daughter and I craving breakfast, strolled down the Pine St, the air was cool with moist, almost every store at the Public Market did not open yet, but this bakery already was really busy to have early bird customers. Seating at the bar-like table and had egg sandwich and lox with coffee and OJ. Those were really yummy even though it looked not very fancy. I liked, in particular, lox which was fresh onion, tomato, cream cheese, and smoked salmon on the fresh bread. Trust me. It was really yummy. They sold various pastries in the pastry case, too.
google avatar

Kristin A.

Yelp
Pastry line moves fast. Order a sandwich? It can take a while. I only tasted the meatloaf sandwich so limited on star review, BUT IT WAS TASTY AND MESSY, just the way I like my meatloaf sandwiches.
google avatar

Ploy N.

Yelp
Enticed by a lot of their artisan-looking baked goods here. We tried the Honey Pistachio Rugelach and it's a tasty little treat. Full of toasted pistachios. Not super sweet. The buttery pastry balanced everything out really well.
google avatar

Cara H.

Yelp
Cute little bakery window on Pike St. We walked over in the morning from our hotel for pastries, yummy! They have a large selection of breads muffins and pastries to choose from and our reasonably priced with friendly staff.
google avatar

Catalina G.

Yelp
We walked by the bakery and after seeing the reviews stopped by. It was just okay. We got the cherry turnover and the lemon bar the turnover was all filó and sugar with very little cherry filling. The workers were not very friendly. Pass this place and go somewhere else.

Yelp
Pike Place Market in Seattle has a plethora of options when it comes to food. It can get very confusing. So every trip to Pike's, I look to try something new. One of my recent finds was Three Girls Bakery. This little bakery makes a multitude of delicious looking baked goods. I chose a couple of items to share with my lovely bride. Pecan Pie Bar tasted wonderful, and I would definitely purchase it again. Peanut Butter Cookie was delicious too. Wish I had a metabolism that allowed me to eat one of everything they sell. Would love to try it all. As it is, I will just have to make them a regular stop every time we go to Seattle.
google avatar

Monique K.

Yelp
Love their bread! It's fresh and full of flavor. The roasted garlic and rosemary bread is my fave.
google avatar

Chandra P.

Yelp
Anyone who's visited Pikes Market knows the line for Three Girls Bakery is always lengthy, I happened to be downtown last week and decided to pick up my produce on Thursday and lucked up by not having to wait for baked goods! The cookies, lemon bars, croissants, and raspberry crumble were all very fresh and not overly sweet. The lemon bar was my favorite because it was extremely zesty, and bright!! The customer service**, selections, and quality is far better than the other bakery a few feet away. Definitely add Three Girls Bakery to your list if you're visiting the market; I highly recommend!!
google avatar

Estela V.

Yelp
A friend and I stopped in for a quick to-go breakfast before walking around the market place. I had the bacon and cheddar croissant and he had a bagel with lox, tomatoes and capers. Both were great! Very good options and nicely sized pastries
google avatar

Janie D.

Yelp
Opened in 1912, Three Girls Bakery is the oldest continuously operating business in Seattle's Pike Place Market, and the first business licensed to women in Seattle. They have a dinette with counter seating, offering made to order sandwiches, and a walk up window displaying an impressive selection of freshly baked pastries and breads. I started at the counter, ordering a Croissant Breakfast Sandwich. The components were simple, but this sandwich was greater than the sum of its parts. Gooey over medium egg and cheddar cheese were melted into the flakey, buttery croissant. I highly recommend this sandwich. I moved along to the bakery window, where there was only a short line at 9am on a Monday. I loved the Strawberry Cheesecake Muffin, an ultra moist cake with a delicate crumb and fresh strawberry. There were many Sephardic items available like rugelach; I tried the Potato & Cheese Boreka, and found it to be simple and satisfying. Finally, you must try the Earl Grey Shortbread, which was exceptional with coffee.

Esme A.

Yelp
This place was FANTASTIC!!! Defiantly a BIG recommend to check this place out!!! I loved their sandwich midwestern. savory deliciousness. I will be back!!

Yelp
This bakery I stop by regularly when I visit Seattle! Simple, cute, with an array of things in the windows, with the friendliest and cutest staff. They will always help you and will never make you feel rushed. I always get some kind of their bread. This time it was focaccia - excellent! I tried cranberry walnut before and it was so fresh and tasted like it was just made at home. I also tried their baked salmon sandwich - I took it on the hike the next day with me and it was a bomb ! It held well and wasn't soggy. I always get their earl gray and lavender short bread cookie - yum, super fresh and tasty. Distinct but not overwhelm flavors. I tried the feta spinach and almond chocolate croissants this time - o-la-la, very good. One word that runs through all my descriptions of their foods is undeniably FRESH! Thank you for doing such an amazing job! It's pleasure to visit and eat your food ! Will be back again and again.
google avatar

Charlotte J.

Yelp
Tried their raspberry bar on a food tour, would definitely recommend! What's admirable is that the bakery was the first business licensed to women is Seattle Also tried their nutty brownie, it wasn't super sweet but very chocolatey
google avatar

Tanya C.

Yelp
The coffee from the bakery was good, but the following day we got it from the kitchen side and it was cold. Their breads are ok to me. What was really good and tasty were their breakfast sandwiches, but only because the croissant was fresh and flaky. The guy's service at the bakery was subpar, but the girl With the red hair seems mad most f the time. In the 2 days we were there, different employees offered to help her since there was a lot of people waiting. Both times she told the girl and a guy that she was ok. Also the eggs were bland. Nothing a little salt and pepper can't fix. I would recommend it, just her service needs to be more welcoming
google avatar

Sierra B.

Yelp
If you are visiting Pike Place Market, make sure to visit this little bakery. There is always a line, and the pastries and breads smell delicious when you pass by. You can never go wrong with the shortbread cookies. My personal favorite is the lavender shortbread which both smells and tastes like lavender!
google avatar

Griffin C.

Yelp
Classic bakery in the market that has been open since 1916. The customer service is genuine and they will help you pick something out if needed. I suggest trying their Fremont sourdough!
google avatar

Matt M.

Yelp
Had the pleasure of walking by Three Girls multiple times during a recent visit to Seattle and Pike Place Market. The smell alone is intoxicating and kept me coming back. And the service is super friendly - I'm a fan! I got to try three things: the chocolate croissant, mixed berry buttermilk scone, and...one that I can't remember the name for the life of me, but it was the best berry muffin I've had (it wasn't one of the cream cheese ones). It was so moist, so soft, so airy, and so good. Northwest berry? I'm not sure, and it's bugging me! The chocolate croissant was also really good and kept well on my flight back home. The family enjoyed that one very much. Very flakey. The mixed better buttermilk scone was decent. Least favorite of the three, but it still tasted good. A tad dry for my taste, but I'm glad I got to try it! Definitely worth a stop - I'll be coming back whenever I'm back in Seattle!

Yelp
I visit Pike Place Market a lot because out of town family always want to go when they visit. So it's not that special to me, but family or not, if I'm in the area I always get in line to buy three raspberry bars. The streusel top is so crunchy and the jam has the right sweetness. Uggh, now I want to go back to get more!
