Three Monkeys Cafe

The food here is brilliant, large portions, well presented and delicious. The drinks are the same with amazing coffee and smoothies and frappés. Service is first rate with very friendly and attentive staff in a nice setting. This is a true 5 star breakfast experience. We walk away every time with smiles on our faces.

Would rate higher if I could. Have never been disappointed going here. The food is tasty, the service is top notch. All the staff are friendly and seem like they actually want to be there. Even when it is busy enough to have to wait for tables, the food comes out in a reasonable time and the quality is on par with when it's quieter. Great menu.

The portions were rather large for us, but quite tasty. It was good for a heavy brunch. The Moroccan eggs stood out to us. We enjoyed their drinks, and also purchased a bag of their coffee beans to bring home!

What an amazing place!! Excellent food, superb service and nice casual atmosphere. The owner is super courteous and so are all the staff. A must visit if you happen to be in New Castle. Our only regret was that we didn’t visit it on our first day in New Castle, otherwise all our breakfasts would have been there. Well done team!

A recent bad experience elsewhere has made me even more appreciative of Three Monkeys. I am a pretty regular customer, visiting at least once or twice a month and I have never had anything other than a fantastic experience here. The food is always hot, delicious and served in a timely manner. My allergies are accommodated without any issue and every staff member I've interacted with have been beyond lovely and very helpful. I love that there are different seating options - the courtyard and verandah (can't wait for it to return) are my favourites, the atmosphere is always lovely. I highly recommend the parmesan toast!

We had the pleasure of visiting 3 Monkeez Café, one of the busiest and most vibrant cafés in Newcastle — and it definitely lived up to the hype! From the moment we stepped in, the place was buzzing with energy. Despite the crowd, we were lucky to grab a spot upstairs, which gave us a great view of the bustling café below while still being able to enjoy a relaxed meal. The food? Absolutely on point. We ordered a mix of their standout dishes — a smooth and rich coffee to start, followed by a delicious pancake, a flavour-packed chicken poke bowl, the fun and satisfying Monkey Fry, and their twist on a classic, the Bubble & Squeak Reloaded. Every single dish was served fresh, full of flavour, and beautifully presented. You could really tell the kitchen puts heart into their food. A huge shoutout to the staff — even with the café packed to the brim, they were friendly, efficient, and kept everything running smoothly. It’s not easy to maintain that level of service in such a busy environment, and they handled it like pros. Overall: Great food, lively atmosphere, and top-notch service. 3 Monkeez Café is a must-visit when you’re in Newcastle.

An incredible place to eat, the food was amazing and had little twists from the conventional. Awesome coffee and large servings. Had a full breaky and bubble and squeak.

I have been having breakfast here for over a year now. Each week, I sit in the exact same spot and order the exact same thing. The majority of the staff know my order due to my consistent patronage. However, when I tried to put my order in at the counter today, the staff refused to do so. I was told that the reason for this was that the staff needed to know where I was sitting. My response to this was "right there" as I pointed to my usual place at the breakfast bar. I was then told "that's not the way we do things here" and the staff refused to take my order. I then left the establishment and had breakfast at McDonald's where the staff, despite having much less training and experience, were able to easily accomplish this seemingly arduous task. I shall not be returning to this cafe.

Their food is delicious, quick and comes in large portions. It's slightly on the pricy side, and I really don't like that they don't give you the option to split the bill. And the fact that you're only told this when going to pay can really throw people off. Other then that 10/10.

Nice coffee & a nice looking place.. Too bad later at night it does not offer more. Says kitchen open till late, but apparently late on Friday is 9.30. Friendly smiley staff. 2.5 stars if I could!!

The best breakfast in Newcastle!! We love Three Monkeys the food & coffee's are outstanding and the service is excellent!!! There is plenty of seating which is great because this cafe gets very busy, the service does not suffer no matter how busy it is the staff are always cheerfull and composed. I had the Quinoa porridge which was absolutely divine & Hubby had the Bubble & Squeak with added eggs and he loved it.

Waited here for more than an hour for a really disappointing burger. The place was not even busy so it was just incompetence of the staff.

One of many lovely Cafes on Darby street. There's seating inside and outside plus a nice upstairs. I really like the Veggie Monkey breakfast and their juices and smoothies. I've been told their Morrocan eggs are delicious too!

This place is really chill and the staff are friendly... Just cool place to be for amazing food with amazing friends and family
