Tourism Board Member Picks for the Best Winter Jackets

"Mentioned as a local cultural site for admiring First Nations art and paired with nearby harbor activities, the park is suggested as a winter outing where warm, stylish outerwear helps visitors comfortably enjoy outdoor public art and trails." - Lois Alter Mark Lois Alter Mark Lois has been writing professionally for over 25 years. Fossicking was a great activity for the kids - very dusty and hot in the sun (make sure you take a hat and bottle of water). A suggestion - it would be nice if a few staff were up in the dig site to help kids identify areas to dig or rocks that 'might' be worth taking down to be cut. Whilst some parts of the park are looking a little tired it was still a fun day out overall.

Absolutely amazing place! Thunderbird Park is a hidden gem! From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by friendly and welcoming staff who made us feel right at home. The natural surroundings are stunning, and there’s no shortage of activities to keep the kids entertained all day—from adventure courses to mini-golf and gem fossicking. It’s the perfect spot for a family day out or even a weekend getaway. We’ll definitely be back!

A lovely day out, exploring the mining park. Be wary, your child may see a big rock and decide that is the best rock ever and suddenly you're carry a 5kg rock in your bucket questioning your life choices. You also wonder if you should maybe start exercising more as some fitness is required to traipse up the rocky incline

We had an amazing time at Dig It! It's a fantastic hands-on experience where kids can operate real excavators in a safe and fun environment. Perfect for lower primary school children – our child absolutely loved it and didn’t want to leave! Highly recommend for a unique and exciting day out. It was $65 for 2 hours. You can try un-limited time.👍

Day trip. I have been here before about 6 yrs ago. I would strongly recommend that the chain rope be moved over. Consider putting it in the middle of your walk away. Not over towards the edge? Its not easy to reach going up to dig site No 2. My girlfriend is 72, l'm 65, & a rock hound collecting rocks for years. We just managed to reach the rope. Its step she never been here. Sadly its a step rise, l be redoing the walk, with less gradient. Less slip. Just a thought.

If you're ever in the neighbourhood, I had the absolute best bowl of chips ever....crisp on the outside, piping hot and fluffy on the inside, chicken and regular salt. Will pay $10 again if I find myself in or near Tamborine again. Also a lovely setting and meal for my cousin's wedding.

We did not attend the hotel, we participated in the fossicking. Prepare to get dirty as you hunt for thunder eggs! Each family member can haul out up to 5kg of rock, and you can spend as long as you like there as long as you don't leave the site. Wear old clothes/shoes as the soil is clay: if it's been wet prepare to get dirty! If you're not a regular of manual labour bring gloves as after only a short amount of time we all were suffering some mean blisters. We followed staff instructions and each came out with a thunderegg, which cost $5-$20 to cut depending on their size. It's a great outdoor/novelty activity for the whole family. Allow about 1.5hours for your visit (mainly because we didn't go crazy collecting too many rocks and it can be tiring work finding them and digging them out!). A must-do activity at Mt Tambourine that can easily be turned into a whole day thing as there is a high ropes course, mini golf and waterfall walk on site.

We went glamping here it was amazing. The tents had all the modern touches, smart tv , ac/heating, BBQ, and outdoor shower, but the tent and shower showed signs of wear. Great camp-site vibes, and there are plenty of kookaburras and bush turkeys plus cooking on the BBQ at night with the led lights, then having a night shower with the stars was amazing. Wifi speeds were good too Also a free EV charging point that doesn't seem to be advertised

Yelp
Went for dinner last night, after waiting quite a while for a seat in the restaurant we were told that the restaurant was closed and to go outside to the kiosk. When we got to the kiosk it was shut and the signage directed us back to where we had come from. When we finally got a staff member to serve us we were told that they may not be cooking as there was a big group staying and they were feeding them. We sat and waited and thankfully we didn't have to clean our own table as the sign beside the bucket of water and chux cloth suggested we do. We eventually got to order and the pizza took ages and was bloody awful, the cardboard box probably would have tasted better. It rather ruined our night out.

Yelp
Prices are very expensive, the park is run down. You get the feeling the only customer service given is so they can rip you off. Very disappointing
