Tibet Guest House

This was a great stay in Kathmandu. Clean, friendly, and well located, with attentive service and a very authentic, local feel. If you’re expecting a five-star, Western-style hotel, this isn’t it — but if you want a comfortable, affordable, and genuinely local experience in the heart of the city’s sights and sounds, this is a great choice. We had a wonderful time and would definitely recommend it.

This is my 2nd stay at Tibet Guesthouse and I will definitely return. The hospitality is 2nd to none, staff are friendly and the rooms and serviced and cleaned daily if you like. It's budget friendly with great coffee and food and the hot water is plentiful and the shower very powerful. Well worth the money. Thank you to all the staff for making my stay a very pleasant one.

Family rooms available with basic kitchen setup. Very good option for families with kids of 2-4 years who require kid-special food. Good location. Very much close to the heart of Thamel, however away from all hustling and bustling.

Great hotel. Love how they kept the original art-deco and murals. Yes there is a bit of deferred maintenance however staying in a hotel that’s an amazing interior makes it a fun atmosphere. Hotel is safe, the staff definitely looks after the needs of the guests. Food is amazing. Terrific ground level patio and rooftop patio. Hotel is in a great spot and not noisy at all. Rooms are cleaned daily. Hot water is always there. I would definitely stay here again.

We were recommended to stay at Tibet Guest House by a friend who has been to Nepal with small and large groups 18 times and he did not steer us wrong. We had wonderful stays at Tibet Guest House before and after our trek to Everest Base Camp and Gokyo Ri. The staff are lovely and very helpful. This hotel is very conveniently located in Thamel and close to everything you would need. A short distance off the Main Street, it’s peaceful and quiet and a bit of calm away from the hustle and bustle of Thamel. It’s also very close to fantastic places to eat and contains its own restaurant serving delicious and great quality food. The room was spacious and clean and the beds were comfortable. It was a great place with enough space to get organised before trekking and luxurious to come back to after staying in teahouses while trekking. As three women travelling we felt very safe, as well as comfortable with great air conditioning and windows that close completely keeping the mosquitoes out. While we trekked, the hotel stored and looked after our spare luggage free of charge which was extremely helpful. All the tour operators and guides all seem to know Tibet Guest House which makes it very easy organise transport and tours. The communication before our visit was also exceptional. We would highly recommend staying at Tibet Guest House in Kathmandu.

This is my fourth time to the Tibet Guest House— with my first trip in in 1991. I have always been impressed with the quality of the staff, and their willingness to help out with all of the logistics associated with preparing for a trek (particularly storing luggage at no additional cost). I cannot say enough good things about this place!

The staff's lack of professionalism was evident in their rude manner of talking, which significantly detracted from the overall ambiance. Basic courtesy seemed to be absent, and it greatly impacted the quality of my stay. Additionally, issues with the service, such as delayed responses and unaddressed concerns, further added to the negative experience. Overall, I would not recommend this hotel based on the subpar service and the disrespectful attitude displayed by the staff.
