28 Best Things to Do in Barcelona

"While Tibidabo mountain is a fairground, it's also so much more. You’ll first notice it from the city center: high on a summit, the silhouette of a majestic temple makes you curious to go. Officially called the Temple Expiatori del Sagrat Cor (or Sacred Heart church, easier on the tongue), its roof is topped with an enormous bronze statue of Jesus that you can take an elevator to. Mind-blown (and a little breeze-blown), you suddenly see the charm of the amusement park next to it—like its retro-styled attractions, such as a Ferris wheel with color-pop seating pods, built for the views as much as the screams. Adults love the views; kids love the rides. Finish with a gin and tonic on the terrace of Mirablau Bar, near where the blue tram stops. The edge seats rule." - Gemma Askham

A church about 30 minutes from the city center, located on a hill with stunning views overlooking all of Barcelona. For just €5, you can climb to the top — definitely worth it! Highly recommend visiting at sunset for beautiful scenery. Don’t forget a jacket, as it can get quite windy and chilly up there.

MUST DO IN BARCELONA!! The views are breath-taking!! My kids absolutely loved every minute. The rides were so fun and different. Great for all ages, mine are 3-14 years old. Everyone was happy the whole day.

🎢 Review: Tibidabo Amusement Park – Barcelona, Spain 🇪🇸 📍 Location: Tibidabo Hill, Barcelona 🌍 One of the oldest functioning amusement parks in the world with a breathtaking view of the city! As a travel consultant and explorer of family-friendly destinations, I can confidently say Tibidabo Amusement Park is not just about thrilling rides — it’s about history, nostalgia, and views you’ll never forget. 🔹 Highlights: ✅ Historic Charm – Open since 1901, this park beautifully blends vintage rides with modern touches. ✅ Stunning View – Set atop a mountain, you get panoramic views of Barcelona and the Mediterranean Sea. ✅ Family-Friendly – There are rides for all ages, including kids’ zones and relaxing attractions for adults. ✅ Unique Attractions – The Red Airplane ride and Avió are iconic — flying over the skyline is magical. ✅ Access to Temple of the Sacred Heart – A bonus visit to the beautiful church right next to the park. 🔸 Things to Consider: Access to the park involves a funicular ride or long uphill journey — plan accordingly. Ticket prices are slightly higher than some local attractions but worth the experience. Can be crowded on weekends and holidays. 📊 Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ (4.5/5) If you want a mix of old-school charm, beautiful scenery, and fun with family or friends, Tibidabo is a must-visit in Barcelona.

Google
Very nice place on top of barcelona. We paid 60 euro 2 adults and 1 child. We played 5 games since most of them had many waiting times. It was overall a good experience. They have cafe and snacks at the top as well. It is a nice place to spend the day

Google
Beautiful place. The best view of Barcelona. The place is intriguing, fun, and mesmerising. It's not the best communicated place by public transport however. It would be great to have a direct bus from the city instead of a train, funicular, tiny bus.

Talal Qadah

Google
One of the famous amusement parks in Barcelona, offering a mix of vintage and modern attractions. There are classic ride and a Ferris wheel with roller coasters. Great panoramic view of Barcelona.

Tibidabo is a must-visit when you’re in Barcelona! The panoramic views over the entire city are absolutely breathtaking — one of the best viewpoints in town. At the top, you’ll find the beautiful Temple Expiatori del Sagrat Cor, a stunning church that’s worth visiting both inside and out. Just next to it, there’s a charming little hermitage and the iconic Tibidabo Amusement Park, which adds a fun and nostalgic vibe to the whole area. The place is well organized, clean, and has something for everyone — whether you’re into history, photography, or just enjoying a peaceful moment above the city. Getting there is also quite easy. I took public transportation using the Funicular and then the bus 111, which drops you off right near the top. Everything was smooth and well-connected. Highly recommended when visiting Barcelona with time!

Google
Great location to visit 👍 The catedral is amazing. You can take a train up the side of the mountain and visit an amusement park, see the church. We say several bicycle riders, making the journey to the top. We even stayed to attend mass.

Yelp
When we visited, the amusement park was only open during weekends, so unfortunately we didn't get to experience the actual amusement park. However, the Panoramic Area is open everyday so we still took the Funicular up - our kids had a blast going on all the rides & the view is quite spectacular! If possible, we definitely would want to come back and check out the amusement park!

Yelp
Tibidabo is the highest peak in Barcelona, Spain! It's a touristy spot that gives you a 360° view over the Mediterranean Sea, the city of Barcelona, and the surrounding suburbs. Even though I've visited the Barcelona area about a dozen times, this was my first time at Tibidabo, and I was glad to share this experience with my husband and my brother's family. If you're planning a trip to Barcelona, this is a definite spot to visit at least once in your lifetime. It was well worth my 15 year wait! The top of Tibidabo is crowned by the Cathedral del Sagrat Cor. This church was constructed between 1902 and 1960 in a mixture of modernista and neogothic styles. It's also home to the Tibidabo Amusement Park built in 1889. You might recognize views of Tibidabo in international films like Vicky Christina Barcelona.

Yelp
A very cool amusement park. It's in top of a mountain so the views are great. A bit of a pain to get too, but overall nice quality rides. For the tiny ones and the older kids. Lines aren't very long on most rides except for the Freddy Kruger and Chucky haunted house. Overall a pretty cool spot.

Yelp
Beautiful park and scenic point overlooking beautiful Barcelona! Definitely worth the hike up! The pirate ship, Ferris wheel and roller coaster was super fun. The only issue preventing a 5 star review is the fact that the park does not offer easy solutions to leave. We waited about 40mins in the cold until we were able to get a taxi.

Yelp
If you have been to the Acropolis in Greece, Eiffel Tower in Paris, as well as Monmartre, Tibidabo is a must. Here you see all of Spain; the majestic views are spectacular. There are 2 different prices: 12 euros is for funicular only to Tibidabo, 35 euros includes amusement park access and rides. There is historical content to review: the coolest ride is the airplane built as an attraction in the 1800s before aviation, pre- El Prat There are a few eateries that offer hot dogs, pizza and traditional Catalan sandwiches. For cocktails there is a bar to visit before going up via funicular. Well worth a visit! * Many ways to get here, here is the cheapest way: Take L7 from Placa Catalunya to Tibidabo, last stop. Then cross the street to a free bus, T2C to funicular. The sign stated Pl. Kennedy. You will use the same bus to go back to Metro station. There are Metro workers at this bus stop in case you have questions. I purchased a 6 day metro card that is unlimited on Metro and bus. Best way to travel in Europe.

Yelp
Oh my goodness, this is a MUST when in Barcelona! You literally feel on top of the world! It's an amusement park + gorgeous church at the top of a mountain. To get there from the city center, we took the metro to the Tibidabo stop, then a bus to the cable car, then the cable car to the top! A little bit of a trek but so worth it! They have rides and attractions for all ages! I am not a dare devil and they even had fun, low-key rides for me. I loved the Ferris Wheel that literally has views of the entire city. They also have a cool airplane ride! During the summer season, they have more rides open. In February, quite a few of the rides were closed and it was only open on the weekend but we still had a blast! Definitely check days/times of operation before you go because they do change throughout the year. My main suggestion would be to bring a picnic with you. The food options are pretty slim which means lines are LONG and its pricy (like at any amusement park)! We didn't do that so we waited in line for 45 mins because my hangry self needed food! Facepalm! Anyways, this amusement park is great for ALL ages!! And you really can't get a better view or to a much higher point in Barcelona. Talk about amazing photo ops!

Yelp
I came here before but I don't think I reviewed it. So let me tell you a little about it then. My cousin and cousin in law took my family and I here to check it out. Well more to take his Goddaughter to rides and my mom to check out the church. The park is cool and pretty awesome. We didn't get to go all the way inside but just pretty much where they have free entrance. They road the merry-go-round and watched a show. They have a place to eat, place to eat some candy, small little shops here and there to get some cafe and desserts, rides, mazes, watch shows and also sit and checkout the the view of Barcelona. Most of the rides and maze were packed. It was pretty packed the time we went. I'd go again and take some friends who haven't been. So this is one spot you have to add to your must do in BCN. OH yeah there are different ways to get up there. You can take the trolley, bus, a tour, a bus to another trolley or drive up there. For me and the family the 2nd time we drove we pretty much got lost but we did find it. The time I came they did not have some of the rides open at the top. They actually took some down. So just enjoy the view and whatever ride you can go to.

Yelp
This is a great place to come for a view of Barcelona + instagram pics. Note: you don't have to do the amusement park. We didn't. We just went into the area with a few rides. The Ferris wheel was only €2. Honestly, worth it. You can either take a quick cab ride or take the funicular. We took a cab there and the funicular to the bottom. It's about €7. Beware: it looks super rickety haha but it's fine.

Yelp
The view was amazing, but this wasn't what I was expecting. I thought It was going to be a cultural landmark, but it was actually an amusement park which actually made it a bit tacky. The view makes up for it.

Yelp
Barcelona is such a beautiful place ! I visited last year while touring parts of Europe and Spain is by far my favorite! Where ever I travel, I am all about checking out historic landmarks and places with VIEWS! Last year, Yelp wasn't as popular as Trip Advisor in Spain. After a quick search of 'Things to do' on TA, we knew we had to check this place out! We came in May and the weather was perfect (T-shift / shorts). The journey up the hill is a fun adventure of its own. We mostly took public transit all the way up from train - walk - bus - tram and more walking . Time it took up was maybe 2 hours or so but well worth it. There's a restaurant at the top to stop and eat . Several taxis were there, however all seemed to be waiting for their customer to return. All the rides were open, fun for family and all ages. Antique rides that were super cool. One of the BEST panoramic views I've ever seen. There's also a cathedral / church which you can go inside. Very beautiful . You can go to the vary top of the church and see even more! A must visit when in Barcelona !

Yelp
My sister and I were so set on a siblings day to Tibidabo! I must say it was totally worth it! We took the bus to get here and it was a very straightforward excursion. Here's the run-down: For our first stop, we went up to the Church on the hill. It was very beautiful and worth seeing for sure. There are a couple pay binoculars there to view Barcelona from. I think there was also a wedding that day so we tried to stay out of the way. After that we headed down to the amusement park. Here are my highlights: My absolute favorite part of the whole park, the Hotell Kruger. To say it is a "haunted house" is an injustice. It is an experience that moves you through various scenes from old horror movies while actors are reenacting parts from the movies. This was SO well done! I don't want to give anything away, but if you are a fan of older cheesy horror, this should be on your "Must See" list if you are in Barcelona! The roller coaster (I can't recall another name for it). It was fun, lots of twists and, like all the tourist reviews say, it did have some great views. Though I'm thinking we both are getting too old for roller coasters. The Piratta and Huracan were both a blast. So the Piratta was a large pirate ship that flings you in a large vertical circle. The Huracan was very similar, but you sat in a row and you not only were spun in a large circle, but a smaller one at the top as well. Amazingly there were no lines for these attractions so, I believe, we went at least twice if not three times on each. You have to take advantage of any attraction without a line right? That's what we thought. Diavlo was much more low key, but still quite fun! This is a carousel type of attraction where you are suspended on a seat connected at the top with chains. The faster the spinning, the more horizontal you go. Plus it would raise and lower each side as you went around. Our last stop for the evening was the Watchtower. The Watchtower was a single armed ride that took you far up into the clouds where you could view both Barcelona and the ornate detailing to the church. By the time we went up on it a fog had rolled in from the ocean that made it a much more breathtaking experience. The only let down that we had, and yes it was serious enough to merit dropping Tibidabo a star, was the Panoramic Wheel. This was the main attraction we had wanted to see and it was not out during our visit. How completely disappointing! All that being said Tibidabo is not to be missed when in Barcelona. Be prepared for a full day though! This park packs a lot more in than you think! SYOY!

Yelp
I found it odd that they'd build an amusement park next to a cathedral (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/KNv_bdSfXVuxe_UZWDb0BA?select=RIUWNAe92_EjKwQcc3Yycw) until I found out the amusement park came first. Now I find it odd that they'd build a cathedral next to an amusement park, but my degree is not in Urban Planning. The park hours vary by season so check the website for the current month (http://www.tibidabo.net/en/horaris). Use this link, the business info link has not yet been changed to the correct URL (as of 6/25/2011)

Yelp
Spied the location where a scene of Vicky Cristina Barcelona was filmed - just against the railing next to the carousel: http://www.yelp.co.uk/biz_photos/KNv_bdSfXVuxe_UZWDb0BA?select=OZQUDxfQzvw9-kxgbm8hhg It's not a crime to like chick films, alright?! In all a tranquil experience despite the carnival-esque feel. Spectacular easterly view of Barcelona and beyond into the Mediterranean. No Spanish guitar performances here. Accessible by tram for 4 Euros, or via public bus or taxi.
google avatar

Andy S.

Yelp
Just getting to this park is an event unto itself. Bothersome for some, enjoyment for others. Metro, cable car, funicular, and a lot of walking. The park offers great views, but not as many rides for the adults. We just came to take in the views, eat some carnival snacks, and walk around taking in the sites of Barcelona and Tibidabo. Tips: Discounts for the park and transport are found all around Barcelona.
google avatar

Jenn S.

Yelp
I LOVED this amusement park as a kid! The best is the walk through haunted house. It's even more scarier because all the actors playing the roles of each horror scene don't speak any English and they come at you and it's just terrifying..in a good way :) Best time to go is at night when all the lights are on and you can see all the city lights down below as you go around in the ferris wheel or zip through on their coasters.
google avatar

Inigo M.

Yelp
Cool little amusement park with more historical than amusement value. The views are also fantastic, especially from the tower. Make sure to take the funicular up to the park for the full experience.
google avatar

M K.

Yelp
Under no circumstances should you consider going to this amusement park. The views are nice but it incredibly poorly designed and the lines are absurdly long. This amusement park is the worst I've ever been to.
google avatar

Korina B.

Yelp
One of my favorite views of the city. Took the train up and spent a couple hours taking in the views and ate at the restaurant on the hill. Delicious!
google avatar

Yelp

Stephanie B.

Yelp
Make sure you check the days the park is open because they will sell you the tickets online even if they are closed that day.
google avatar

Ava G.

Yelp
Wow! Enjoyed going to this place. Offers a spectacular view of Barcelona. The Temple Expiatori del Sagrat Cor is perched above the amusement park. Watch the sunset with a backdrop of the neo-Gothic church - awesome!
google avatar

Laura O.

Yelp
One of Barcelona's theme parks that happens to have a bad-rep by locals due to some unfortunate history behind it, BUT don't let that stop you and your family from driving up there! Located at the very op of a mountain is Tibidabo! As soon as you walk out of your vehicle to enter the park you will be greeted in your language by a giant wall of many "welcome" dialects. This park is family-friendly, couple-friendly (but still try not to be too p.d.a) and best of all, tourist-friendly! There are just a few carnival rides for the little ones or almost big ones to enjoy. The best part is yet to come, the view! The view from way up here is amazing! You are able to see all of Barcelona and it's many famous landmarks. Truly beautiful! So bring the camera and take many many pictures!
google avatar

Knuckles G.

Yelp
I thought it was beautiful the location the park was. Now we just walked around the park but did not ride anything as it was super cold and windy that day. The Sagrat Cor church next to it is a must see and frankly how could you not visit that church when you track up that mountain! The park resturants was a little over priced I'm sure because of the location as there is not much to eat other than the churros and chocolate and fair food. We took the funicular train down and that only added to the pretty views. All in all wonderful to take the kiddos!
google avatar

Eric S.

Yelp
My family had an extremely poor experience here, mainly due to bad customer service and inconsistent standards. First, be aware that if you're taking public transport, it's a bit of journey. You have to take a train out to the area, then take the blue tram (overpriced tourist trap) or a public bus (your metro pass will include this) to a funicular. Then you have to pay again for the funicular round trip. But none of that was the issue, it just added to our eventual frustration. The ticket person came out and measured my son because we both knew he was right at 120 cm, which is the cut off for a lot of rides. He measured just barely over 120, and my wife and I both observed this. The ticket person stated he was good for 120. Her English was very good, there was no confusion or misunderstanding on the matter. But then...she sold us the wrong wristband for under 120 cm. We didn't have any idea. She just gave us a wristband for him that was a different color. I just thought it was because he was a kid. So we ride a couple of rides. The lines were very long and it basically took us 2 hours to ride two rides and buy some yogurt. So I should mention the park is built on multiple levels and it takes a bit to find your way around, because it's on the side of a mountain. So now we get to the kids rollercoaster. We wait the requisite 20-30 minutes and get to the front. ***They measure my son again*** and confirm that yes, he is tall enough, but the ticket lady gave you the wrong wristband. They let us ride but said we'd have to go all the way back to the top level to exchange our wristband to ride any more rides like this. So we walk from the bottom of the park back to the top to get to the ticket office. This takes about 15 minutes. Keep in mind we'll have to walk across the park again to get back. We wait our turn at the ticket booth. The person at the ticket booth ***measures him again*** and says he is tall enough, but I need your receipt to process the exchange. I have a backpack full of travel stuff and can't find the receipt. "I can't help you without your receipt...you need to go to the info desk and *maybe* they can help you." So we wait our turn at the information desk. Bear in mind it's getting later with each interaction. The person at the info booth measures him and says, "He's not 120". Probably because he's tired and slouching after so much waiting. So I respond that this is now his fourth measurement and everybody said he was good. "You misunderstood all of those other people" she says. I respond: "So you're saying I misunderstood as I watched him hit each measure with my eyes and when they let him on the rollercoaster?" Her response was pretty much that she didn't care and "too bad". I asked to file a complaint and her attitude turned really salty. I walked. So now we have an hour trip back into town with a kid that's pissed and sad. Summary: It takes a while to get out there. We rode 3 rides total over 3.5 hours. It's overpriced and the rides are nothing special. You can go for the views and pay nothing for the park. When it comes to customer service issues, this ranks among the worst I've had. There's a lot of awesome experiences in Barcelona, skip this one.

Paula M.

Yelp
this was the worst place ever !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! we waited 40 f*cking minutes for two drinks and the coffee is out of the toilet!!!! the table is dirty af and the cutlery is absolutely outrageously dirty!!!! worst place ever !!!! i will not be returning to this pigsty and i will tell everyone the service is poor!!!! shame on you!
google avatar

Selena L.

Yelp
The amusement park was not open when we visited so I can't say anything about that. I will say however, if you are limited in time, you can skip this site. Go to Park Guell instead to capture a "birds eye view" of the city.
google avatar

Felicity M.

Yelp
Tibidabo is not a modern theme park for thrill seeking adrenaline junkies but a historic, quaint funfair with traditional rides and sideshows suitable for young children. It is situated at the top of the mountainous backdrop of Barcelona and therefore enjoys spectacular views across the city. The top of the rickety big wheel is an ideal place to try to snap some pictures of a vista which will definitely impress. The ride up the mountain by funicular is also fun and exceptional on a bright, clear day. The atmosphere is sweet and warm and it is a true pleasure to walk around especially in the blamy Barca summer evenings

Nat D.

Yelp
It made me sad to see some of the negative post about this place however I know that's why we have yelp it's everyone's personal experience and opinions. So please whatever you do don't skip out on this experience. Do take a tour of the church and do hike all the way to to top and look out. You won't be sorry. The view from the top of the tower is so beautiful. Especially on a clear day you can see the mountains the city and the sea. Take a picture when you get to the top so you won't forget the beauty you experienced. Do take note it is windy when you get towards the top. Bring a light coat on cooler days and ladies/gentleman tie up your hair before going up. We did not ride anything at the amusement park but we did enjoy watching others enjoy the park as much as we did. I wouldn't recommend the restaurant as the food is not over the top good but take the bus down to the the first stop there is some great places you can eat there.
