My sister and I were so set on a siblings day to Tibidabo! I must say it was totally worth it! We took the bus to get here and it was a very straightforward excursion. Here's the run-down:
For our first stop, we went up to the Church on the hill. It was very beautiful and worth seeing for sure. There are a couple pay binoculars there to view Barcelona from. I think there was also a wedding that day so we tried to stay out of the way. After that we headed down to the amusement park. Here are my highlights:
My absolute favorite part of the whole park, the Hotell Kruger. To say it is a "haunted house" is an injustice. It is an experience that moves you through various scenes from old horror movies while actors are reenacting parts from the movies. This was SO well done! I don't want to give anything away, but if you are a fan of older cheesy horror, this should be on your "Must See" list if you are in Barcelona!
The roller coaster (I can't recall another name for it). It was fun, lots of twists and, like all the tourist reviews say, it did have some great views. Though I'm thinking we both are getting too old for roller coasters.
The Piratta and Huracan were both a blast. So the Piratta was a large pirate ship that flings you in a large vertical circle. The Huracan was very similar, but you sat in a row and you not only were spun in a large circle, but a smaller one at the top as well. Amazingly there were no lines for these attractions so, I believe, we went at least twice if not three times on each. You have to take advantage of any attraction without a line right? That's what we thought.
Diavlo was much more low key, but still quite fun! This is a carousel type of attraction where you are suspended on a seat connected at the top with chains. The faster the spinning, the more horizontal you go. Plus it would raise and lower each side as you went around.
Our last stop for the evening was the Watchtower. The Watchtower was a single armed ride that took you far up into the clouds where you could view both Barcelona and the ornate detailing to the church. By the time we went up on it a fog had rolled in from the ocean that made it a much more breathtaking experience.
The only let down that we had, and yes it was serious enough to merit dropping Tibidabo a star, was the Panoramic Wheel. This was the main attraction we had wanted to see and it was not out during our visit. How completely disappointing!
All that being said Tibidabo is not to be missed when in Barcelona. Be prepared for a full day though! This park packs a lot more in than you think! SYOY!
