I want to start this off by saying the concierge at the front was extremely polite, kind, and personable. I visited tiburón to see their wedding venues. I called ahead and spoke with Kathy and she told me to come on by on our agreed upon date at anytime and she would show us the venues. Once I arrived I spoke with the concierge and she was amazing as I mentioned above; however, Kathy was not there. I was informed Kathy would be there in about 15 minutes and that I was more than welcomed to look around. Once Kathy arrived she looked at my fiancé and I with a face of disgust. She was looking at us as if we seemed out of place and didn't belong there. I began to walk towards the concierge desk and she still maintained the look as if we didn't belong. I introduced my fiancé and I; however, Kathy asked us what we were there for and I informed her we were there to look at the venues. She then asked us if we had any menu prices and I informed her I never received any. She asked us to sit and she would print some out for us. My fiancé and I sat down and a few minutes later Kathy returned with the forms. She asked us why we were there again and I informed her again that we were there to see the venues and she said to us "Ok thank you for coming". My fiancé and I were taken back because we hadn't been shown around. The entire reason I called and scheduled an appointment with her is so she can show us around the venue which Kathy knew; however, we were never shown anything and since she had been looking at us with disgust from the moment she saw us, I could tell she was ready to get us out of her hair. I am not one to use my race as an excuse for anything; however, that was the only reason I figured she would treat us so poorly. My fiancé and I walked in dressed professionally and spoke to everyone with kindness and respect; unfortunately, we were not treated with the same kindness and respect from Kathy. I would not recommend anyone go to tiburón for their weddings since it seems like it is such a bother to be shown anything. I definitely wouldn't recommend anyone with a Latino/ Hispanic background even think of trying to see the venues since you will be looked at and treated differently. Lastly I do find irony in being treated differently for having a Hispanic background from a place who's name is derived from my language.
