Ticos River Adventures

I highly recommend this experience—it was an awesome time for my family. We felt safe the whole way through, which really mattered since I was with my wife and daughters. The guides were super friendly, and there were kayakers in the water for safety and to take great photos and videos. The rapids were exciting, but there were also calm spots to relax and enjoy the scenery. Afterward, they served a tasty lunch and had showers and changing rooms, which was a nice bonus. Overall, a fun and well-run adventure. We’d definitely do it again!

What a phenomenal experience with Roberto and Alejandro! Never once questioned safety! Left at 8am and got on the boat from 8:30-12 small break in the middle of the trip! Had a chance to swim in a beautiful part of the river! 100% recommend this spot (family owned, help the locals :) )

1) Float this river while in CR…..absolutely breathtaking scenery and basically a roller coaster ride from start to finish. I guarantee it will be a trip highlight. 2) GO WITH ROBERTO (owner of Ticos)….he is incredibly fun and helpful on the river and organized and responsive while planning the trip. He runs a truly first class operation. Incredible guy! 3) Don’t be scared off by rain….we were concerned with our weather the morning of the trip (cool and raining), but between starting at lower elevation (little warmer than Turrialba) and the adrenaline, we were pleasantly surprised with our comfort during the float. 4) The lunch on the river was very good….normally, lunches on these types of trips are more of a “check the box” thing….but, Roberto and his son (also Roberto) made a very nice, fresh spread for the meal. 5) Can’t say enough good things about this trip and company…..have fun!!!!

We had a great day with Tico and his crew, they were really warm and welcoming. We felt really safe whilst enjoying lots of action. The lunch was lovely and we'd highly recommend them. We also appreciated them taking amazing quality photos and no pressure to buy them.

The best experience you could hope for!! Fabio and Roberto took us to Pacuare River! They got us there early in the morning so we could experience the magic of the river without every other company around us. Fabio is so charming and informative. I had never gone rafting before and felt safe the entire time. This company was the first on the river in the 80s, you can really tell. The experience, knowledge and reverence for the river is so evident. The lunch was deliciously fresh and comes after a lovely float down the river.

Ticos is awesome! Scheduling with Roberto the owner was super easy and we couldn’t wait to start the tour! Our guide Fabio was one of the best river guides we’ve ever had! He was super friendly, knowledgeable, and ensured we had a fun, wet, and exciting journey, which was exactly what our boat wanted. The Rio Pacuare is amazing and lived up to its ranking as 4th best river rafting in the world!!!!

My wife and I spontaneously decided to book a rafting tour with Tico’s River Adventure. From the communication with Robert to the actual tour and even the pickup service from our hotel, everything was wonderful. On our way to the river we even stopped for a quick coffee. We felt safe at all times and had an unforgettable day. The picnic on a riverbed was another highlight, where the guides prepared fresh food for us. We would book this trip again anytime!

Excellent company for rafting trips. We did the one day Pacuare River trip, which had exciting whitewater parts and beautiful calm reaches and canyons. The guides were excellent for both boats and safety measures was very professional. They have been running this river for 40 years. Pre trip organization was excellent and the owner was very responsive. Transport from Turriable was provided in a van with a great driver. Lunch was also excellent. Price is very fair.
