TIDO Hostel Penang

Very bad experience. The room was very old and very dirty, with a damp and moldy smell. It was a shared space but there were no cleaning staff. I stayed for several nights and no one came to clean the room. While sleeping, the door kept making noise because of the wind, so I couldn’t sleep. There have already been many negative reviews, but the hotel owner still refuses to make any changes. Everyone should avoid this place. If there were a 0-star option, I would give them 0 stars.

I liked the experience here, however, the bathrooms were very neglected. The staff hardly ever saw them being cleaned. And under every bed I slept in, I found a lot of dirt, even dead cockroaches. But overall, the experience here is very good. The atmosphere is interesting, and the roommates are also interesting. You have several shared areas on the top floor. It's a very nice place to hang out with your partner or just relax. It's a good place to work remotely or online. Suitable for digital nomads. The place is close to everything, literally close to everything. There's a beautiful Thai food restaurant very close to the hostel, right in front of the tap on the same block as every hostel..

Terrible experience — don’t waste your money! This hostel is absolutely awful. The place is dirty, the Wi-Fi doesn’t work, and even the air conditioning barely functions. The bathroom was disgusting — there was literally feces in it, and it’s never cleaned. There’s no toilet paper, and every time I asked the staff to clean it, they just said there’s a shortage of supplies. Today I asked again and was told there’s no housekeeping service at all — what kind of hostel doesn’t have housekeeping? I ignored the bad reviews before coming, thinking people might have exaggerated, but every single negative comment turned out to be true. There seems to be only one worker for the whole building and another one at reception. I booked for three nights but couldn’t stand it after the second night and left early — and they even refused to give me a refund. Avoid this place at all costs.

The shower was very clean. The most annoying part was the two girls who were so noisy and loud all night that I couldn’t get any sleep. That was so annoying. I woke up the next day so tired. My eyes were so puffy from not getting any sleep. They were so loud on their phones and they kept shouting at each other. I told the staff but nothing was done. The noise kept going on for hours and hours. These 2 girls were from Indonesia. They were very rude and very ill behaved. They kept playing games on their phone really loud all night 1am 2am 3am 4am. I didn’t get any sleep the whole night.

There are better hostel around, such as sleepbox. DON’T STAY HERE! 1. Air Conditioner kept tripping the whole night and waking me up every time it off. 2. Staff on duty not serious, playing mobile legend in front of you. 3. He known for a fact that the aircond is having such issue, and refuse to swap another room for me (perhaps other rooms are having more serious issue). 4. Photo Look Nice, In actual the place deteriorated. Worst Penang Experience.

At first, I thought it was just an ordinary hotel. But when I experienced it, it was very good. The mattress was soft, the room was clean, and the receptionist had the best solutions. I was very satisfied to be able to sleep in that room, even though the bathroom was outside.

Some of the German girls were a bit racist which made me feel uncomfortable. There was no curtains so there was no privacy. So I found it difficult to just be myself. I found it really hard to be myself. They made me feel incredibly self conscious. It was hard for me to get changed and be myself. And they were really noisy at night.

I DIDNT GET ANY SLEEP THE WHOLE NIGHT. The worst part was the girls in the room who were so noisy at night. They kept shouting at night. They did not behave like normal people. They had no respect for other people. In the morning they were so loud again. It was so annoying. I told them to be more quiet but they were so rude and continued shouting and making noise. I complained to the staff but nothing was done.
