"eÑe eÑe was one of Costa Rica’s first so-called cultural boutiques. Its showroom, in a beautiful Barrio Amón building overlooking the Parque España, is a pleasure for the eyes. Even its sign is stunning: an enormous red “Ñ” against the building’s otherwise gray facade. Inside, the works of more than 60 local designers are artfully displayed—brightly colored must-haves that range from pencilsand coffee cups to one-of-a-kind apparel, scarves, handsome leather accessories, posters, framed artworks, and more—and all items cleverlyconspire to make consumer decisions tough. This is an absolute gem of a shop. I was in San Jose for the first time since covid and learned that many of the little art galleries and shops I have frequented in the past had closed. I wanted to bring gifts home, but San Jose is plagued with ticky tacky shops full of junk made in China, etc. I stumbled upon Tienda Ene and discovered a store that actually supports local artists and has items made in Costa Rica. Beautiful shop with a highly curated selection of things from t-shirts (designed by local artists) to high end jewelry, even hand painted shoes and boots! Absolutely worth visiting if you are looking for something special or fun to bring home, and you care about supporting artisans in Costa Rica.

Small clothing store. In terms of mens apparel they only have tops (button up, t-shirts and tanks) but there are some really cool designs, and it seems like a lot or most of it is designed/made locally in Costa Rica.

Lovely little store where they have clothing for all genders. They also sell some beautiful jewelry, although it was on the pricey side. I purchased a perfect small toiletry bag, which is just what I needed. The store owner is great, too.

Beautiful crafts by local artists, far superior to the tacky souvenir shops in town.

Super cute store with a lot of local art. They had jewelry, pins, clothing, children’s toys, bags, notebooks, mugs, and postcards. Definitely worth stopping in. :)

I bought there the best artisan shoes I have ever owned. I literally will go to Costa Rica to shop there and a few other places. Quite pricey, but, you should know it already, that Costa Rica is not cheap.
The shoes are by local designers Maurelo Y Tagini. The owner knows all the artists and can help you set up.
