Seriously??? Tiffany & Co. ONLY gets four stars???!!! WOW!!! Let me start by saying I'm just an average-Joe -- a RETIRED average-Joe! Me and the Hubs ain't Rockefellers! So, if I may add a bit of expository here -- I'll make it brief; but, I want there to be a bit of insight, which I hope my long-windedness will give you -- in 2014, due to a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to relocate to Melbourne (AUS) for a 2-year work assignment (all paid for by the company, including rent and living expenses, AND still get a normal U.S. salary!), we decided to splurge and get married in New Zealand, as well as pickup a couple of gold wedding bands. (Perhaps, if I didn't emphasize previously, the gold bands were going to be a HUGE splurge on our parts, as we had already broken the bank on our special NZ wedding adventure! We thought we'd go all-out and get us gold bands, as well.) Anyway, we're looking at prices at various jewelers along Collins Street -- all were more than we wanted to spend. Just so happened, Tiffany & Co. was there, too. It was literally a "What the heck? Let's pretend!" kinda thing. Seriously! I didn't think we could afford anything from this esteemed establishment; but, "What the heck?" From the moment we entered that store, the entire experience (from the welcoming customer service, to working within our limited budget and treating us like we were buying diamonds (!!!), to getting our simple gold bands ready for the wedding day) was nothing short of superb!
Now, we fast forward to 2017: We're back in the States. A couple of Aussie mates tell us they'll be in NYC, and would love us to meet-up, if possible. Naturally, we meet up in The Big Apple! Three years later, our simple gold bands have gotten quite scratched and dulled (especially mine, doing landscaping). We decide to get our bands polished since we're on 5th Avenue. Again, from the moment we enter, there is such a welcome! Four under-dressed blokes, to boot!! We ask for directions, we're wisked-up to the proper floor, a sales rep ("Margot," if I recollect) assists us. We tell her what we need; tell her we also need it done ASAP, as we're heading out of the city the next day. Naturally, we're bringing our rings in at the end of the day, so the polisher is gone till tomorrow; however, Margot puts a priority on our jobs, and ensures that it'll be done before we leave. We ask how much for the polishing. She tells us there's no charge!! Doesn't matter they're simple gold bands, it's a lifetime warranty! WOW!!! (We come back the next day, bands are like-new gorgeous!!!)
Finally, fast-forward to the present: We're in Hawaii visiting the family. We fly in on the evening of Jan. 9 (2023). There's a Tiffany's in Waikiki; it's open late. This time around, we're looking for polishings, but mainly to resize my band larger due to my finger having some arthritis which had increased my joints to the point where I haven't been able to wear my band for the past six months. We're there; we decide to get this done. We pop in. I know I sound like a broken-record; but, from the moment we entered, there was nothing but "Aloha!" (this being Waikiki, after all). Sales rep advises me that the resizing will take approximately four weeks, as all repairs go to the flagship store in NYC; also, there could be a charge since more gold will probably have to be added for the larger sizing. No problem, we say. She says that when the job is done, it will be sent to our home in Maine. A month after our Tiffany & Co. Waikiki repair, the package arrived by Fed Ex today (Feb. 10, 2023). Alas, I've been nervously anticipating this. The Fed Ex box revealed Tiffany's timeless bespoke packaging, my "new" wedding band looked gorgeous AND fitted perfectly!!! All this is more than I could've asked for. And how to top all of this off? How'z'bout "GRATIS"!!! That's right: No Charge!!! That, folks, is the epitome of lifetime customer service!!! I'm truly flabbergasted!!! WOW!!!
Henceforth, I pledge to play the Lotto diligently so that we're able to upgrade to Tiffany diamond bands (like the ones Margot showed us -- perhaps for a future anniversary?)...!!! Three different Tiffany & Co.'s; all superlative experiences!!! If I could give 10-stars, I'd gladly do it!!! :D
