Tihanyi Bencés Apátság

The Tihanyi Bencés Apátság is a true jewel of Hungarian architecture and history. You can see the magnificent view of Lake Balaton and beautiful scenery below Tihany. Inside the monastery, you can find a museum and historical relics. Since the parking lot next to the building is a private parking lot, you must use another location.

Very nice, simple but pretty Baroque abbey. Signs in English explain the symbolism in the altars and paintings. The ticket also includes an interesting museum of the abbey’s history, again with information in English.

Small beautiful and peaceful 🇻🇦Benedictine Claustrum 🇻🇦 with scenic views of the lake Balaton. Acustic of the church is excellent as you can hear it.

Gorgeous place, absolutely peaceful with such warm and welcoming people. You can spend hours here watching the lake and walking through the village. Lots of lavender products. The village is covered with pretty flowers. Food shops are very limited though.

Nice place, but nothing special. Entrance ticket is 3100HUF. Church inside is nice, but the museum is empty. There is a couple of old things and rest are strange modern pictures..

The monastery itself is nothing special, and the surrounding scenery is even better. You can have a overlooking Lake Balaton.

Nice view. It was an island in the medieval times before became an peninsula. This process still not ended up completely, thats why you can see some swamp and reed where it joins to the mainland. You must take a walk toward Óvár into the caves of the monks if you want to catch the best view to the peninsula.
