"Part of Lanzarote’s UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, the 52-square-kilometer volcanic Timanfaya National Park is known for its Montañas del Fuego (Fire Mountains), where subsurface temperatures reach up to 1,100 degrees Fahrenheit (593 degrees Celsius). Eruptions as recent as the 18th century have produced a Death Valley-like lava landscape. The artist César Manrique designed a tourist center here as well as the El Diablo restaurant that uses geothermal heat to cook traditional Canarian dishes."

An extremely disappointing and overpriced experience. This cost €22 each to sit in a queue up the road to the volcano, which in some ways was more fun than the top as you got to see the lava fields and views around. Once there, you can spend literally 5 minutes there. You don't actually get to walk up the volcano or anything, you see a guy throw some dried plant material into a hole which lights, you feel some 'hot rocks' and see the Geyser's. Yes it's impressive. But for the entry price it is poor. The restaurant for the famous "volcano chicken" doesn't open until 12 so if that is important to you, make sure you don't arrive early. It was, understandably, heaving with tourists but to be honest that didn't deter away from seeing everything. Most people seemed to be more interested in "getting the insta perfect picture". The videos you see on YouTube are literally what happens here. So mixed feelings... It is nice to see and do as an experience but overpriced and don't be expecting to spend hours here exploring and looking as you will be disappointed due to restrictions in place as to where you can go.

This place is a sight to see the terrain is lava fields and mountains and really feels like you’re on an another planet. A tour of this place is only in a car or coach as the terrain is extremely challenging to be on foot. All in all it is a sight and a pleasure to experience. There’s also a lovely restaurant that uses the volcanic heat which is still present below ground to roast their chicken. Yummy

I joined a bus tour, and the guide mentioned we could skip the long car queue and head straight to the visitor centre. For this reason, I think a bus tour is the better option, especially in summer when car lines can be very long. The scenery in the park is breathtaking — no signs of life, just volcanic rock and a profound, almost haunting silence. It’s a truly unique landscape you won’t find anywhere else.

We went with a TUI excursion. It was brilliant! So much brilliant info about the area. Stops at multiple places. Brilliant experiments to watch at the top. It's worth booking with a company as we were told the wait to get in for cars was 1-2 hours. So if you go by car - get there earlier! Also the coach could take us a route where cars are not permitted and that was brilliant! Would highly recommend this park.

We arrived 15 minutes before the park opened to avoid the queue, and I believe it was the best decision, especially considering the long line that had formed an hour and a half later when we left the park. Entry to the park costs 22€ per person, and payment is in cash only, so make sure to have some on hand. After entering, we boarded a bus for a 40-minute tour. The views were breathtaking, and I recommend sitting on the right side for the best views of the landscapes. You can take as many bus tours as you like since the entry fee covers unlimited rides. Additionally, you can see geysers and chickens cooked with lava. They look juicy and delicious, but you'll have to wait until lunchtime (12 PM) to taste them, and the area might be overcrowded at that time. Overall, it was a fantastic experience well worth the 22€. I highly recommend visiting Timanfaya National Park at the beginning of your stay in Lanzarote. The beautiful landscapes, black melted lava, and orange-tinted volcanoes are truly awe-inspiring. 🌋

If going by car be prepared to wait .We waited an hour to get in , be prepared and take a drink .Best time to visit early morning or afternoon or better still go by bus as they don't have to queue. It's worth the wait though . Wouldn't recommend bus tour if you are nervous about being a passenger if not it's a must and the drivers are excellent

Amazing day out with lovely friends as a birthday 🎂 treat for me. Everyone was very friendly and kind. Had a coffee at the cafe to get a little rest. Took the bus 🚌 tour which was really interesting to see the unusual nature created by the lava flow and the history about the volcano 🌋 I would highly recommend it if you want to go up to see it.

Short south timanfaya tour. We had very comical tour man, was very friendly. The children loved holding hot rocks and watching the geysers and how the hay got set alight in the ground they were amazed they also loved how the food was getting cooked by the volcano. they didn't enjoy the tour on the coach to the volcano and it's surroundings they did go to sleep but us adults enjoyed the experience. We even had the pleasure of meeting the camels.
