The Timberline Bar and Grill is located on Mount Roberts in Juneau. One rides the Goldbelt Tram up to the restaurant. They offer American food, and a full bar, as well as Seafood and are Vegetarian and kid-friendly. The views are of the Gastineau Channel in front and mountain waterfalls in back, from the outside patio. There is a lovely gift shop and clean restrooms. This is a seasonal restaurant, closing at the end of October and reopening in April. Hours are subject to change due to weather conditions, but in the summer, they are usually open from 8-9. During the season, the restaurant offers live music and is available for private events. One orders from the printed menu at the counter and pays before eating. Table service sets and condiments re self-serve. The food is then brought to your table. We enjoyed our chili bread bowls. Both the chili and the bread-bowl were tasty; the chili was hot but not too spicy, and the bread-bowl was fresh. We felt that the portion size was a bit small. I would recommend this place. The tram ride up was fun, and the restaurant was charming. It is accessible from the tram or one may hike up and ride down. Season Passes are available. The tram base location is at the main cruise dock on Franklin St., and tickets may be purchased there.

Google
Great food and service. Definitely recommend the chicken teriyaki sandwich and the fish and chips and if you get the nachos, bring a football team to finish them. They’re no joke!

Phil Drummond

Google
Average food that's overpriced towards busy & captive cruise ship tourists. Alaskan Halibut Fish was dry, & Chips were tater tots. While the Wings were good, the advertised "Six chicken wings" were not supplied; only five in basket. Didn't notice until after paid. At least the Heineken beer was not a local brew, and snowcapped view couldn't be faulted.

Bernhard Birkeland

Google
Well, it's a cool place to grab a meal or drink because of the stunning views. But it's no atmosphere other than that. Obviously, it's a place for tourists.

Google
Being a resident of Juneau, we found a gem at the top of the Mountain Roberts Tram that we have often overlooked. Great food and a spectacular view of the Gastineau Channel, Juneau and Douglas Island.

Katy Peace

Google
Long wait for crab nachos that were cold. Half the cheese was never melted and there’s had melted and completely cooled by the time it was brought to the table. Would not eat there again.

Google
Price of Classic hamburger went from $13 a year ago to $21.75 as of July 2024. Similar price increases for all menu items. Burger is handmade and served with a cup of fries.

Jagdish Yellesetty

Google
The Halibut and Chips were great, but very few fries for the largest order. Halibut pieces are shrinking in size. Bar is good with friendly service. This is great place when the cruise people are gone. I wish they cared about their local customers to stay open for them.

Yelp
The views here are absolutely incredible and the ambiance inside is nice as well. The service was decent. The food was okay, but not that great. It was a nice experience but I wouldn't eat here if I came back again, overpriced for not that great food

Declan H.

Yelp
Really great view and nice service, but way too expensive. Nachos were over $30. But I guess that makes sense since it's at the top of a mountain. We opted to just get some drinks and have lunch back in town. Glad this place was here though, it was a welcome respite after a long and beautiful hike.

Yelp
Our stop at Juneau,Alaska was really amazing but finally will breathe taking we on the Goldbelt Tram to see a more spectacular view of Juneau and looking the beauty of Juneau. There's a restaurant called Timberline Bar & Grill on the top on monut. After looking the incredible view we were getting little bit hungry and the restaurant is just right there the restaurant looks very nice with Alaskan native art and totem including black bear and mountain goat hives on the wall very impressive. We were looking at the menu we were not that hungry we need a snack then we decided to get nachos Alaskan style. We got the half of nachos they give us a number and waited we noticed there's a bar cool. Then they brought our nachos it was big we took a bite we notice a crunch in ever chip. The nachos have sour cream, black beans, guacamole and other items. They were so good so much flavors in the nachos we don't know what hell these Alaskan did to the nachos. The chips were crispy and crunch didn't fall apart to the end. ,

Yelp
The views are incredible; however, the food is sub par at best. First, you order everything at the bar and pay a hefty tax. 1.20$ per 10$. Not sure if it is a luxury tax. $17.50 for queso /chips. The chips are from Costco and most were broken. The dip had a funky taste and was served at room temperature. It was worth $3.50. I went to the bar to get another beer and my table was about to be cleared (I saw and said "still there."). This was a very disappointing experience. Please save your money and eat elsewhere. Over priced and some crazy tax on top.

Jacob S.

Yelp
Would not recommend this restaurant. Clam Chowder was gray. Customers must walk to the bar for service. View was nice when it isn't foggy. Cafeteria type environment.

LaNae R.

Yelp
The tram operated recommended the crab nachos, we didn't order, but received anyway. The old guy behind the bar taking orders and drinks, was rude and very short with everyone. Food was subpar. Onion rings were fried in dirty oil and chips and salsa were all store bought products nothing authentic about the food. I wouldn't waste money on this tourist trap.

Stephan H.

Yelp
Bartender was rude and couldn't make a basic cocktail. Ended up being upcharged bc it was shaken when i asked for it to be stirred. Food looked good but the bartender ruined the entire experience.

Paul R.

Yelp
I gave a 2 for the view. It would have been a 1 if not for that. The service was terrible. No smile, no acknowledgment. Everyone has to place their orders at the bar. There were two lines when we got in line. That whittled to one when one of the bar persons left. Two groups were served prior to us, and that was because I informed the bar person that she had already let 2 couples behind us go before us. She gave serious attitude after that. We ordered a plate of nachos, $25, that had very little cheese or toppings. Most of the chips were completely bare.

Nancy H.

Yelp
Such an awesome experience up at the top of this beautiful mountain! We came on one of the opening season days and the bartender greeted us with open arms and delicious cocktails. He told us about an event that was happening that night, arranged for us to get tickets, and made our whole night memorable. Service was great and food served at the event was delicious!

Beverly H.

Yelp
I cannot believe in 2023 that such hatred and racism still exist to the point where a business will still refuse to serve black people. We sat at a bar where 3 bartenders refuse to acknowledge or even look at us. After a few minutes we realized they were not going to serve us. I come from the south (Georgia) and in my 66 years have never experienced anything like this. BLACK PEOPLE DO NOT TAKE THAT TRAM TO THE TOP OF THE MOUNTAIN. They don't want our money. Even though it's green, you're still black.

Meredith A.

Yelp
If I could leave zero stars I would. This was perhaps one of the worst experiences and meals of my life. For a city dependent on cruise ships you think they would ensure appropriate staff are in place when ships are docking. Mind you I was not a cruise ship but paid $35 to come to the top but spend an hour waiting for my food because the kitchen was behind even though there were tables available. I order a halibut burger. It was so small I even just used one side of the sandwich bun. For food that was supposed to come out got it was cold. Do yourself a favor and enjoy the hiking which I was unable to do due to this poor service. Eat in town as well. Never give this restaurant your business.

Peggy C.

Yelp
Took tram up to this restaurant, nature center and store. Well worth the $33 for the lift and you can come and go all day :) We ordered the crab nachos and the smaller one was way large enough for two. Very good with lots of cheese and crabWould definitely recommend this place with good food and excellent views.

Rishabh J.

Yelp
Took the Goldbelt Tram as part of a cruise excursion and visited this location. Some of the staff were extremely unprofessional and rude, making multiple racist/anti-immigrant remarks. The location is interesting but would not give more business to this location.

Katie B.

Yelp
The burgers are charred to say the least, but that's not all. This is the place where my wife showed me the divorce papers that ruined my life. This place left me in shambles, both with the food and with the experience. Do not recommend.

Jenna M.

Yelp
Didn't order much but I have to say the chef/cook is at the table next to us talking to guests and our server and the entire staff here have wonderful personalities. Dorcey is a gem. Chowder 5 stars and oysters too. Cute and quaint.

Eduardo E.

Yelp
Very good halibut. I am not a dessert person, but I decided to check out the chocolate caramel sundae. I didn't get a sundae, but it was delicious. Chocolate cake, vanilla ice cream, very good caramel sauce. Again, I don't eat dessert. This, I ate. Special thanks to Kim, who busted her butt out on the deck area where we sat.

Brandon E.

Yelp
My wife and I came in for a few beers and a burger after hiking around Mt. Roberts. The beers and the view were spectacular. The bartender (can't remember his name, but was a mustachioed gentleman) was extremely pleasant and professional. He told us stories of dealing with bears and gave us an interesting view into the life of an Alaskan. The burger was great as well. It was a bit pricey, but the views were worth it.

Yelp
Cruise ship tourist season happens from May through September. You may come up by hiking up, spend at least USD 10, save the receipt and ride down, or pay to ride up and down. Upon arriving, it noticed a very long queue waiting for a ride down and thought right away it was a mistake to come up here as it's at least a twenty to thirty minute wait for the ride down. The restaurant is very busy, the host was busy and not very efficient at seating people, as if there are any available tables to seat people. Fortunately, another of our party already went through this process and already nabbed a table for us. We had a table outside, but better have some warm clothing. Their seafood chowder was very good, cup USD 7, bowl USD 9. For two dollars difference, get the bowl if you're sharing or hungry. Their calamari was a disappointment, thinly sliced pieces left me feeling unsatisfied with this dish. I had expected thicker sliced calamari, not recommended. Cod and chips USD 10 were decent, steak sandwich USD 18 was filling and satisfying. http://www.foodspotting.com/reviews/4736325 http://www.foodspotting.com/reviews/4736359

Yelp
I arrived right when they opened at 11 and had a great view. The fried oyster sandwich I had was pretty good. The Alaskan fried bread was tasty. Alaskan amber beer on tap. My waitress was attentive and nice. I doubt this place is a more fresh food type place but they did fried food well enough. There's only like four tables by the view so I'm glad I arrived early.

Yelp
" Great Place to Eat at the Top of Juneau Alaska " My wife and I took the Mount Roberts Tramway to the top of Juneau Alaska two weeks ago and had a wonderful experience at the Timberline Bar & Grill. First of all the tramway ride up the mountain is really breath taking, and once you get to the top, you can look over the entire city of Juneau. We ate lunch at the Timberline Bar & Grill where Food & Beverage manager Mark Collier seated us at a table and talked with us about the history of the restaurant. Kristina Peterson our server was awesome, as she handled our every wish. Also Executive Chef Randall Rice also came to visit our table and gave us a sample of his personal recipe Salmon Andouille Sausage, which was delicious. The Fresh and Baked Oysters were very tasty, the Reindeer Sausage Ruben Sandwich was very good, and the Fish Tacos were yummy ! But one of the best dishes was the Huge, Giant, and delicious Crab Nachos. The Bar & Grill also has a wide selection of Alaskan Beers on tap. A great field trip and lunch at the top of Mount Roberts when you are visiting Juneau Alaska.

Yelp
Ate here on a recent visit to Juneau. The view and food are excellent!! We ordered the seafood platter and it was so good!!! The service was a little slow, but I was on vacation, so in no hurry. Server was friendly and apologetic so no reason to take away a star. If I am ever in Juneau again, I will definitely come back for some more delicious seafood!

Laura L.

Yelp
Great food, fresh seafood, and fantastic views! Lil expensive, but totally worth it. I had the halibut with garlic aioli and it was amazing. My husband got the pound of alaskan king crab and it was superb. My mom and sis-in-law got the AYCE Dungeness crab and the crab meat was super fresh, sweet, and such a tasty deal! :D The food took awhile to arrive, but the server was super nice and checked in on us to make sure my mom and sis-in-law got a steady stream of freshly steamed crab. Omnoms!

Eric B.

Yelp
Not a bad place for a cocktail on a blustery day after riding the tram up Mt. Roberts. Cocktails were very serviceable - my Bloody was well Dressed. Menu looked alright - we just had some sweet potato fries - they were decent. The reindeer stew and the mac and cheese looked good. We saw a couple of giant platters of nachos go by as well.

Brian S.

Yelp
I would like to give a higher rating, but I was disappointed with the lack of service. Our party of 6 arrived on July 1st in late afternoon and we were promptly seated outside on the patio which has a wonderful view. No waitress ever came to take our order and after a good while we noticed the party at the adjacent table had their drinks only because they went straight to the bar and ordered there. We followed suit and ordered a good pitcher of beer. By the time we finished the pitcher we still had not been visited by a waitress so with our bar bill already paid, we left and returned to our cruise ship for dinner. The menu looks decent and the prices seem reasonable. Not sure if the restaurant was simply too busy, understaffed or a combination of both. Wish this had worked out better as we were looking forward to dining.

Gerald C.

Yelp
While the Timberline Grill has a strong menu, the service is lacking and the waiting times (to be seated, to order, for drinks, for food, etc) are unacceptable. Each of our two entrees were large enough to share but tasted average.

Peter T.

Yelp
You know what? This place comes across like it will be a tourist trap. And it does NOT!! We actually ate a meal at Deckhand Dave's and left starving and ripped off. So we hiked up the backside of Roberts Mountain trail, and ate here. We had the nachos, soup, and two AWESOME desserts. The server made GREAT suggestions and we took food back to the room!! The best part? Or $40 meal got us a free ride down the tram!! This place is TERRIFIC!! I don't know where the bad service reviews came from. Server even saw we were parched and brought over tons of water. Hike up, eat, tram down! 100% worth it!!!

Freddy K.

Yelp
Sat at the bar and ordered clam chowder and baked oysters. I've never heard the microwave used so often in a restaurant until I came here. Food tasted like it too. Clam chowder came out after the microwave powered off with a ding. Oysters from Cake AK took a very long time as if they took the tram and fished them from the dock. Came out after the microwave dinged. The price for a half dozen is what I normally would expect for a full dozen. Tasted like they were stuffed with microwaved salad bar bacon bits. We were like one of only a few in the place for dinner snacking on appetizers. Another couple eating at the bar and all their dishes were served after hearing the microwave ding. Staff were friendly but I honestly don't care to hear why you are understaffed and why you are working the bar and waiting tables. Guessing an employee brought his family in for chow by the under the breath back talk my bartender/ waitresses spewed. And the prices are a turn off. Zero wow factor going on here. Hide that damn microwave!

Adam B. J.

Yelp
We came in just for a drink and the view. We had the fried bread which was good, but the beer was better. Great view. Nice service.

Susan M.

Yelp
Yummy food and a spectacular view. Situated at the top of the Mt. Roberts Tramway, this place was the only option for hungry travelers. Good thing too since it was really good! My mom and I both ordered the fry bread tacos. So much food! They included refried beans, meat and tons of cheese. We also ordered the dessert fry bread which had honey, powdered sugar and a blueberry sauce for dipping.

Daryl B.

Yelp
Slow. Slow. Confused staff. 30 minutes to pay. Two words: cluster... I will say, our waiter was nice and apologetic, professional. But it's a cluster up there.

Amy K.

Yelp
Disappointed again!( BEST VIEW IN JUNEAU & very nice staff on the floor) I heard they were able to get a former cook to return. So we decided to try our luck- granted it was the end of the day ( 8:pm and they close at 9) The menu definitely held my interest... I went for the lentil loaf with zucchini spaghetti and ( cant remember the name of those humongous mushrooms included , darn! Brain fart) The mushrooms were yum, but very oily as was the zucchini. The lentil loaf was tasteless. I really appreciate having meat and non gluten-free options, BUT if my meal tonight was a example of typical fair Friends at a nearby table raved about the crab nachos. Oh and my boyfriend says the burger and fries were

Kathleen M.

Yelp
We had a couple of hours to grab a bite to eat in Juneau. This spot was at the top of the Tram so kind of a captive audience thing going on. I was quite pleased with our food and also very surprised! I had iced tea and fish tacos, all three with a different type of fish. I enjoyed them all. I was shocked how tasty it was. Good service was also a plus. The meal was a bit pricey, over 50.00 for the two of us but I get it, Alaska is expensive.

Logan W.

Yelp
Long story short, I waited two hours (11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.) for a cup of clam chowder... the waitress had too many tables and the management lost control. It was a waste of time, be wary when going in. It was empty when we sat down, but the service was no quicker. With all that said, when the food came it was good.

Chris D.

Yelp
My advice, take the 2 mile hike to the top and reward yourself with crab nachos, clam chowder, and a beer. (hey it was 2 miles). don't worry if you eat too much, you can ride the tram back down for free when you flash your dining receipt. They have a full bar inside with a few of the local Alaskan micro-brews. friendly staff and that lodge type ambiance. Seriously though, crab nachos is a must have.

Danielle S.

Yelp
A cute location, a scenic view, and good service are the positives of this restaurant. Our family booked a gondola ride up to the top, including a "seafood dinner," meaning dry salmon with a mediocre side of potatoes/salad/soup. The food was really not all that great, but I guess you can't expect much from a restaurant with just about 5 other people in it besides our party. It was pricy as well, but I haven't eaten at a place with nicer scenery than this. However, about half of the tables are situated next to trees, so you can't see much other than green. I literally had to walk to the other side of the restaurant to get a good view. The best thing on the menu was the hot chocolate, surprisingly enough. I would have just settled for a nice view and hot cocoa.

Don R.

Yelp
Would not know how the food or beer tasted. Was seated with 7 tables seated and at least 25 empty tables. Waited 20 minutes with no service while two employees sat a a table to talk. Asked the supervisor is the bar tender was on break after I waited at the bar unattended. Waited 10 more minutes and no service. Total of 30 minutes waiting, no water, no pleasantries for no service. Just seemed as if they did not care. Unfortunate because it is an awesome view.

Nate J.

Yelp
I had high expectations of this restaurant as being the place to eat while in Juneau. Boy was I mistaken. First is costs $31 per person to take the tram up to the restraint. If you're a Juneau resident or go their with one, they can buy the tram tickets and you get a $19 voucher per person with their ride and dine package (this is one of the few good things about the place). Keep in mind there were 4 of us that went here to eat. I expected at least a 4 star dining experience, even though the dress was casual. The prices would also suggest top notch food, table settings and decor. What we saw inside were cheap, flimsy tables with cheap wire frame chairs that looked like they belonged along the back wall of an office conference room. Outside on the deck there were more cheap, flimsy tables that were slightly beat up along with cheap plastic deck chairs. A customer at another table fell out of his chair when the leg bent and the chair collapsed as he was sitting down. We were sitting on the deck which was mostly full, and by this I mean there were 6 tables, 4 had 4 people (ourselves included), 1 had 2 people and 1 had 1 person. The remainder of the restaurant had maybe 20 people in it. We were there for about 10 minutes before we could order our drinks. When we finally did the waitress came back and said they were out of the particular wine that I had ordered and I had to pick another one. This is a tourist city and a tourist restaurant, how do you run out of any of your wines? I ordered another wine and about 20 minutes later our drinks came. During this 20 minutes time the waitress never returned. We're now up to roughly a half hour just to get something to drink besides water. By the way, our water glasses were never refilled during our entire time there. At this time the we finally got to order our appetizers, fried calamari and pel' meni (which are russian dumplings with a spicy sauce). After about another 20 minutes of waiting my friend and his girlfriend went to smoke. They found our waitress (again she had not visited our table in the past 20 minutes) she showed them where they could smoke and decided to join them. Upon finishing her cigarette she told them that she "should probably go get our food now". My friends came back a few minutes later our appetizers were brought out, about 30 minutes from ordering and about an hour after arriving. The waitress didn't offer to take our order so I asked if we could order. She had to go back to get her pad and pen to write down our orders as she didn't have them on her. She came back and we ordered, 3 top sirloins and a ceaser salad with seafood chowder in a bread bowl. We ate our appetizers while waiting another 30 minutes or so for our meals. Now we're up to around 90 to 100 minutes before starting to eat our meals. First, the Cesar salad came out with the chowder. Salads are supposed to come out before the meal but whatever. And from what she said, the chowder was not very good. My friend ordered his steak medium-well, it came out well-done, nearly burned, no hot slightly pink center like it should. I ordered mine medium-rare, which is supposed to have a warm pink, borderline red, center. It came out medium-well, borderline well, hardly any pink at all. It was also very tough and had a line of gristle running through it. I've cooked better sirloins on my back yard grill that I bought at the supermarket. My dads steak was the only one cooked properly. Keep in mind that my dad and my friend both ordered medium-well steaks yet they came out cooked completely different. I ate my asparagus that came with my steak first, it was cold but I ate it since I was so hungry. I then started on my steak. I took 3 bites and called it quits, my friend had 2 or 3 bites out of his. We sent them back and asked for the manager. When the manager finally showed up, he said that he agreed that my friends steak was overcooked but that mine was cooked properly. Needless to say that irritated me just a bit and I let him know. If I'm going to pay $25 for a 10 oz steak I want it cooked properly. After arguing for a couple minutes the manager went back inside for a while, came back and said he would not charge us for the 2 steaks that we didn't eat, which was fine. We waited a good 15 minutes and had to flag down the waitress to get the remainder of the bill for what we did eat. She thought the manager wasn't going to charge us for anything. A few minutes later another manager came out with the remainder of the bill ($140 without the 2 steaks) and asked us if we had any additional complaints. This is when we told him about the waitress going on smoke breaks, our poor service, etc. He took the bill along with the 4 $19 vouchers we had from the tram. We waited a while longer until my friend went to see the manager with his credit card to see the manager and asked what we owed. He said the vouchers would cover it and we left.

Yelp
Hiked to the top of Roberts with two friends, came down to the Timberline for a drink and a cup of chowder. My group was immediately seated; However, it was a solid 10 minutes before we even had water in front of us. 15 minutes after being seated, our drink and food orders are taken. 40 minutes after being seated, we had to ask where our drinks were. Then again, when the waiter forgot one of our drinks. An HOUR AFTER BEING SEATED, we asked AGAIN about our food (we ordered a salad and 2 cups of clam chowder. Not difficult or time consuming to make) and were finally given something to eat. My soup was lukewarm, as it had been sitting for almost an hour. Here's the best part. After my group expressed our concern for our level of service (or lack thereof,) the "boss" removed ONE drink from our total. FYI, there were 3 people in the group and we all waited the same amount of time. Why did they have to pay for their drinks and I didn't? The waiter wouldn't even look me in my eyes as we said goodbye and left. I understand you're embarrassed about the terrible service, but that doesn't get you out of being courteous to your guests. All in all, this restaurant and the people running it are just awful. I, nor anyone in my group, will be returning to this sorry excuse for an establishment unless management really puts forth an effort to make this terrible experience right.

Chuck C.

Yelp
Best view in Juneau! Menu has been upgraded and the halibut Olympia is great. Drinks are a little weak, and they tend to over cook the burgers, so tell them medium rare, but the staff is great and very friendly.

Kent Y.

Yelp
There are few times when I am utterly disappointed with a restaurant. My experience at the timberline is one of them. The hostess at the front was a complete embarrassment to any other host or hostess working in the food and beverage industry. She had an attitude and was not the nicest person (b* word). She said it would be 10 mins until we would get seated. Well it wasn't 10 minutes it was more like 30. I do not understand the logic that went through her head. There were 10-12 tables open but she wouldn't sit anyone. Lots of people were waiting and some even left because of the stupidity. Once seated we were given menus and then essentially forgotten about for 15 mins. We had to ask 4 times for water. I guess this restaurant doesn't give water immediately when you take a seat. The food is WAY overpriced for what you get. I was very excited to eat here as we heard they serve fresh seafood. Their menu had no variety. We ended up ordering the crab nachos, clam chowder, and cod & chips. We waited 45 mins for our food to come. Some parties who were sat after us got the same food before us. Very disappointing. The food was not as good as advertised. To be frank Applebee's or any other budget restaurant can make better food. This was a complete WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY. DO NOT EAT HERE. In all the years I have gone to restaurants I have never been so disappointed in all aspects of the dining experience. TERRIBLE HOSTESS, TERRIBLE SEATING SYSTEM, TERRIBLE SERVICE, LONG WAIT FOR FOOD (if you're lucky your food may come before others). I will forever remember this horrendous experience I had here. I WILL NEVER RETURN TO THIS EMBARRASSING ESTABLISHMENT. I hope that the ownership and management of this establishment see this and other reviews and make some adjustments. I also hope that they tell the moody hostess that it never hurts to smile or be polite.

Yelp
I took the tram up the hill, and found the views beautiful. You can see all the cruise ships in port and the majestic mountains overhead. Inspired, I thought I'd grab a bite to eat. The timberline bar & grill offers great views, with a diner-ish/lodge-ish ambiance. I was seated immediately, but was not greeted by the waitress for some time, until I got up and talked to a lady who happened to be the manager. She was great and took care of me (not sure about the slightly cranky waitress). Anyway, I had the fish & chips, and paid the extra $3 for halibut only (normally it is 1 piece of halibut, 1 piece of cod and 1 piece of something else). I have to say, after trying the halibut, this is why I don't eat fish at home - it was SOOOOO good! Really fresh (off the boat this morning), flaky, moist, delish! Plus all the trimmings: malt vinegar, old fashioned tartar sauce, catsup & mustard, cole slaw AND really good fries. Excellent.

Lisa R.

Yelp
Stopped for some milk and a snack for my son, ended up with the crab cakes and the crab nachos. The crab cakes were good, but what really made them great was the spicy sauce they served with them. My husband is searching for the perfect crab cake, he never likes any...these, he liked! The crab nachos were also good, my son thought they were quite tasty, I did too. My only suggestion is to layer the cheese, guacamole, etc, throughout the nachos a little better so every bite has all that yummy goodness.

Yelp
I wish I could write a separate review for the Tram and all the staff because the folks working the Tram and the other posts were wonderful! The server was friendly and accommodating and we were seated promptly. Our server may have been having a long day, but I could pronounce the beers they had on tap better than she could and knew more about them. I was so stoked that they had Baranof Brewing and Denali Brewing on tap! I ordered the Cobb salad with blackened rockfish instead of shrimp- it was cooked really, really nicely. The crab flakes in the salad however, were strangely tasteless-and had the texture or being previously frozen (hard to pass that off on a local). My husband's entree was comfort food- and he enjoyed his meal. Our friend who ordered the Vegan Sandwich said it was really bad, which was a bummer, because we all were excited for a vegan option in Juneau. We will go again- the view is phenomenal and the staff is truly wonderful. Maybe, though, we will stick to beer and appetizers.

Yelp
I generally avoid tourist traps, but here's one that exceeded expectations. At the top of the overpriced tramway, this was a treat after a long and rewarding hike to Mt. Roberts. Fish tacos, fish and chips, sweet potato fries and reasonable beer prices, along with great views, made this a memorable stop.

Yelp
This restaurant is just OK. Food was cold and did not taste that great- it's difficult to mess up a plain cheese burger and fries, but they did it. The facilities are a bit cafeteria like and dated there are a few tables overlooking the town. The best views are outside the restaurant area. Service was friendly, but, not very good. It is a typical tourist fare directly across from the cruise ship docks. Going up the Mt. Roberts tram is a good experience and there are a couple of very nice short hikes that start just outside the facility, but, if you are looking for a place to have a nice dinner/meal, I recommend looking for other places.

Yelp
Went here for lunch during a port stop during a cruise. It looked promising. We had Alaskan beer on tap (good) and pelmeni Russian dumplings for appetizer (outstanding), then it all went downhill from there. We waited over an hour for our main courses. The wait staff, when asked (they did not proactively offer any information), said there was a backup and the kitchen was working on it. Not acceptable, especially for cruise passengers with limited time. Another couple dining nearby also complained that it took over an hour to get their pulled pork sandwiches. Unless you have loads of time to spare, skip Timberline and get a bite to eat in town before taking the tram.
