Timberline Mountain

This place was very busy 3 weekends before closing season. Lines to the 6 person chair lift moved rather quickly. Multiple slope options for different skill levels. Walk though and grab food options so lines moves quickly. Prices alittle high but you pay for convenience. I rode the shuttle from offsite parking, waiting time 5-8 minutes.

We have skied every state east of the Mississippi and think this is our favorite one we have visited in Southeast and Midwest US. Reasonably priced, 1000 ft of vertical, nice long runs, great snowmaking, and decent lodge. High speed lift leads to a lot of runs. Not bad bar.

Skiing much improved with new owners the past 3 years. New high speed quad lift is fantastic. Snowmaking and grooming are both excellent. Early season skiing is best in the region. Great for families with long green Salamander run. Also very good progression to easy blues to more challenging slopes. Accessibility from Virginia is quick and easy. Corridor H from Wardensville to Davis is unbelievably easy, empty and well maintained.

Great little ski mountain. It was very well groomed, very nice green and blue runs and an efficient 6 person high speed chair. We went midweek so it wasn't too crowded. Just enough folks so we didn't feel like we were all by ourselves. The staff were very friendly and the food was good.

This mountain has 1,000 feet of vert which means long runs including a 2mi+ green (this is rare for the region and it's probably something they should advertise more prominently on their website as I would have visited sooner). All runs served by a new high speed 6 pack taking you from bottom to top in just 5 min (compared to the previous 20 min). Great snow and legit tree skiing make this place one of the best and most varied ski experiences in the region. The place certainly skis bigger than one would expect and is absolutely worth visiting, even if you're on one of the big Epic/Ikon passes like myself. The PA resorts simply can't compare.

We had a great time here. Compared to larger resorts, such as Snowshoe (our usual haunt), there is much less to do, both on the snow and off, and you have to drive some miles to grab dinner. That said, lines were much shorter, prices were much more reasonable and the trails that there are are good fun.

Timberline mountain is prime for skiing and snowboarding. Fastest lift Ive been on. As it gains more popularity, however, lift lines have been rather long recently. Still one of my favorite places in the Valley to hit the slopes!

Stayed at a slopeside home and had the best time! The snow and skiing was great. We love the wildness of Canaan Valley and WVa. It has become our family favorite.

Had one day of skiing at Timberline during my WV ski trip. Getting there was fairly easy from Elkins where I was staying. Parking was free, easy and convenient; I was a short walk to the lodge and the main lift. Picking up the lift ticket I had purchased online was also easy, there was a kiosk that issued the electronic card that worked from my coat pocket. Buying online and as a senior the one day lift ticket was a very reasonable $65. The mountain itself is easy to navigate; there is one main lift, a high speed detachable 6 pack that runs up the center of the mountain with all of the runs coming off of the lift. The lift has scanners that read the lift ticket and there are 2 sets of gates; this did seem to confuse some of the people in the lift line; I did see quite a bit of difficulty with people getting on and off the lift. The runs off the top of the mountain are a nice mix, 2 double blacks, 2 blacks, 3 blues and a long beginner green run. All of the runs give you 1000 feet of vertical; more then enough to give you a nice run, and plenty of challenge. Everything except for 1 double black run was groomed with good snow coverage. The runs have a nice variety, more than enough to make for a fun and invigorating day of skiing for intermediate and advanced skiers. A couple of notes, the bathrooms are conveniently located in the lodge without having to go to another level from the back of the lodge. If coming down the skiers right of the mountain you want to keep up some speed to make it all the way to the lift. Having 1 lift that is the only way to most of the mountain means that when there are issues with the lift stopped the lift line can get a bit longer then desired, but they managed to keep things moving for most of the day. Timberline is a very nice affordable option to ski or board in WV. Very nice for a day or two, although there is probably not much challenge for expert skiers. The 1000 feet of vertical and high speed lift make the mountain ski like a larger resort. Easy to navigate and affordable it is well worth considering for part of your ski trip in the area.

100$ dollars a ticket is not worth sking there...way to high a price... price is destroying the sport.

Years ago, Timberline was struggling and literally falling apart (seriously, check the news archives). But after new ownership and massive upgrades all around, its easily one of the best ski hills in the Mid-Atlantic. Plenty of free parking available with a frequent shuttle if you need to park in one of the satellite lots. A spacious lodge with pretty good food. And a great variety of slopes on the mountain with some of the better black diamonds- flying down The Drop has to be one my favorite slopes in the area. The lifts are both high speed six packs, and run really efficiently as long as a lifty is present to help direct traffic. Its no wonder most people in the area rate it so highly.

Very nice east coast ski mountain. One, very fast 6-chair lift that does the trick. Around 6 very nice groomed runs, that primarily long intermediates ( east blues). Very nice staff and very safe. Recently redone chatlet but nothing too fancy. Loved, loved, loved the soups! Definitely the ski slope of choice in the region, ...and maybe the mid-Atlantic. Don't forget to visit and enjoy Davis and other small, quaint towns; many really neat places to explore and discover including BlackWater State Park.

yesterday was the first day my husband and I skied in over 5 years! The ski rental staff was amazing! One gentleman named Mike was so good with children, even those who were doing some thing they should not! One associate named Gracie helped with my boots! ( she actually got on the floor and helped snap my boots). Made my day so much brighter as an older adult somewhat nervous for her day on the slopes. After a run, and a fall I went back for a helmet and Mike was more concerned that I didn't injure myself and my well being! Both are an asset to Timberline Mountain. I can't say enough about all the upgrades in the facilities, but the people and the staff, Top Notch!

We timed this trip right; it snowed the whole time we were there (1/2/2025-1/4/2025) and never waited more than 10 minutes for the 6-person chair. The whole mountain was open and there was terrain for everyone in the family. The lodge was comfortable, and we were able to find a table or share a table anytime we went in for a break.

Great ski area. Some of best terrain on East Coadt, family-friendly. 186 of best snow making gus available and best snow management team. Highly recommend this ski resort and area.

First of all. Timberline Mountain was formerly known has Timberline Four Seasons Resort. After a lot of legal & other drama involving the former owners, the resort was purchased by a company based in Indiana who manages several other ski resorts. They replaced the lodge, ski rental department, replaced and upgraded the lifts and snowmaking. They reopened for the 2020/2021 ski season. Of the two ski areas near Davis- Timberline offers the most challenging and varied terrain. The new 6-pack high speed chair lift makes the lines go quickly and gets you on the slopes faster. Blessed with an excellent natural snow year and the upgrade to snowmaking. The new Timberline is a fun day of skiing/riding for all skill levels. They have a decent terrain park for snowboarding. Decent Pub and Dining at the mountain with reasonable prices. Lodging at the resort is rental houses & condos or hotels in Davis. It's great to have Timberline back open! Looking forward to whatever future improvements are coming to this resort.

This is my second season at Timberline and I absolutely love it here! I learned how to snowboard here and my instructors have all been so kind, patient, and knowledgeable. The areas are always clean and neat, which is a feat since there's so much traffic and snow. Every staff member I've interacted with have been friendly and always willing to help with what they can. The lifts are well maintained and the operators are alert and prepared for those who struggle on the lifts (aka me ). We love Timberline and hope to come back again this season!

The loft tickets are expensive the only run half the lifts on a holiday weekend and the staff was rude when my pass didn't work and I lost half my ride time while they tried to fix it. They got it working but we're rude about it.

I had equipment stollen from the facility - nothing was done to track it even though it was on camera. Don't bring your ski/snowboard equipment to this mountain without an eye on it - if it is stollen, they will not do anything even when it is on camera.

I 100% think this is the best ski resort not to far from the dc area. First of all the owners work their butts off to open it and it has been open since thanksgiving weekend. They also have had amazing snow even since thanksgiving weekend. This is definitely also the best place if you want harder runs opposed to closer places to dc.
