Timbrell's Yard, Bradford-on-Avon, Wiltshire - Explore & Book

"Despite being a life-long Bristolian, I'd never been to Bradford-on-Avon before. And when we drove into it, down a steep windy hill, past gorgeous old honey-stone buildings, I was amazed by its beauty. Clusters of 17th-century cottages, cobbled streets and tall weavers' townhouses, with a mellow green river swept by weeping willows. It's a mini Bath (with a ridiculous number of coffee shops). In the heart of town, Timbrell's Yard is a stylish, friendly and great-value heritage-chic retreat. There's a cosy bar and a great double-height restaurant serving excellent gastro-pub fare. Upstairs, the style in the bedrooms is all its own. Nordic in influence, with elegant greys, signature tiling, fishing lamps and bare wood, warmed by fur cushions and statement prints on the walls. Highs Truly relaxing thanks to super-soft beds and the tranquil riverside location; ideal for a restorative break A welcoming restaurant and bar with delicious food by Tom Blake (formerly at River Cottage) No need for a car; you're a 2-min walk from the station with regular trains to Bath for day trips (10 mins) Great value for money, particularly the smaller rooms Friendly staff, who love the area Lows Limited mobile signal (a High for us) The river view from the dining terrace is partly obstructed by the car park, but it's still a lovely peaceful spot If driving, bear in mind the town can get snarled up with traffic; we took the train (very handy)" - Liz Simpson

This is a big pub with a large dining area and also some hotel rooms. It grew on us. There's nice outdoor seating for the sunny weather and good quality ales. Service is excellent and the place is clean. We first visited just for a quick pint. We went back the next day for a meal. There's limited vegetarian options but the aubergine dish we had was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. We were very impressed with the food, and with the decor in the more modern areas. The building has a fascinating history, which is worth reading about. All in all, I strongly recommend a visit here.

My wife and I had our wedding reception here with a small group of close friends and family. The staff were so great with everyone, ensuring the meals went to the right people smoothly and glasses were topped up. We are honestly so grateful to everyone here for what they did for us. Separate to that we love coming here in the summer for drinks, it’s chilled and always so pleasant.

A perfect location and a beautiful historic building. Staff were all really great and the food was delicious. ||Sadly our rooms were not at all as we’d hoped. The rooms themselves were well appointed and clean but had overpowering diffuser scents but when we turned them off there was an awful damp smell in both rooms!! On reporting this the hotel already knew of the issue! Why didn’t someone let us know in advance?! Such ashame, it spoilt the trip.

Review of Timbrell’s Yard Our recent two-night stay at Timbrell’s Yard was our second visit, and while the hotel boasts a perfect location, there were areas that fell short of our expectations for a boutique experience. The views from our room were lovely, but we were met with an overpowering damp smell that detracted from the overall ambiance, despite the cleanliness and tidiness of the room. This might not seem significant, but it’s an issue that shouldn’t be overlooked in a hotel of this caliber. The main disappointment, however, came from the lack of attentive service from the staff. In a boutique hotel, one typically expects a personal touch and a higher level of care, but this was noticeably missing. For instance, despite leaving a note requesting room cleaning, it was overlooked on the following day. Additionally, during our meals, the restaurant staff did not check in to see if we were satisfied; we ended up leaving after dinner without anyone attending to our request for the bill. Our first breakfast was also marred by mixed-up orders, resulting in one of us eating alone, which is not the experience one should have at a supposed four-star establishment. Overall, while our stay was pleasant enough, it fell short of the exceptional experience one would anticipate from a boutique hotel. With a bit more attention to service, Timbrell’s Yard could truly shine.

I had an excellent stay. I stayed in 104, one of the smallest rooms and it was perfect for my bf and myself. I'd say the room needs a little more hoovering, such as the air vent in the bathroom which is full of dust and the behind the bed side tables. Not that this should put anyone off, as the sheets and bed were spotless! Just some room for improvement :) The staff were fantastic, very happy and friendly and helpful! The breakfast were truly outstanding, so many options! Very tasty indeed! You could order from a set menu as well as loads fresh fruit, yog, home made granola and much more to feast on. It's a busy hotel with a bar and restaurant , so it's not the quietest but I liked that! It was nice and quiet at night time. I would recommend this hotel 100%. I feel staying in the smaller room is a lot more cost effective and worth the money with the fantastic breakfasts. Also it's best to book direct with the hotel, as your breakfast will be included.

Timbrell's Yard occupies a fantastic location just by the river in charming and peaceful Bradford on Avon. We stayed there 2 nights while attending a party locally and were very happy with the food, drink and atmosphere. The outside seating is particularly lovely. Recommended.

Yelp
This is a really nice pub, located right alongside the river in Bradford Upon Avon. The decor is really nice and the service was pleasant. My husband and I enjoyed their roast dinner on a Sunday. We recommend.

Yelp
It was Fathers day Sunday when we came across this restaurant. Despite not having reservations, they were able to seat us immediately. We had a delicious traditional Sunday roast with roast beef, Yorkshire pudding, potatoes, etc. (All the trimmings!!!!) The staff were so nice and attentive (above and beyond with a sense of humor to boot). They had a wide variety of non-alcoholic drinks which were out of this world good made with local syrups and fresh juices. I'm surprised this place wasn't fully booked given its lovely location by the river and wonderful food!

Yelp
BEST. DESSERT. EVER. Now, it was a special, so I can't say that it will be on the menu when you go, but if you go, do yourself a favor and get the banoffee pie. Incredible. I can't even explain it; it was just amazing. If you like bananas and creamy type desserts, this is the dessert for you. Dinner was ok. I got the gnocchi and it was pretty flavorless. Another clear winner was the cheese fondue fries. I'm drooling just thinking about them. If my main course would've been at least a step above ok, I could manage a 5 star review since everything else was out of the park. But that gnocchi was just not good. At all. But get that banoffee pie and cheese fondue fries and you can't go wrong.

Yelp
Great food and great service. There is a marquee to cater for COVID. You can also sit outside and watch the boats go by. Lovely.

Yelp
Stopped with the family for a weekday lunch. Had the sharer plate and the cod with chimichurri and everything was great, in a gorgeous setting.

Yelp
A gem of a pub/gastro pub in BoA. Food is inventive and tasty and good selection of beers and wines. Great outside space.
