Timbrell's Yard, Bradford-on-Avon, Wiltshire - Explore & Book

"Despite being a life-long Bristolian, I'd never been to Bradford-on-Avon before. And when we drove into it, down a steep windy hill, past gorgeous old honey-stone buildings, I was amazed by its beauty. Clusters of 17th-century cottages, cobbled streets and tall weavers' townhouses, with a mellow green river swept by weeping willows. It's a mini Bath (with a ridiculous number of coffee shops). In the heart of town, Timbrell's Yard is a stylish, friendly and great-value heritage-chic retreat. There's a cosy bar and a great double-height restaurant serving excellent gastro-pub fare. Upstairs, the style in the bedrooms is all its own. Nordic in influence, with elegant greys, signature tiling, fishing lamps and bare wood, warmed by fur cushions and statement prints on the walls. Highs Truly relaxing thanks to super-soft beds and the tranquil riverside location; ideal for a restorative break A welcoming restaurant and bar with delicious food by Tom Blake (formerly at River Cottage) No need for a car; you're a 2-min walk from the station with regular trains to Bath for day trips (10 mins) Great value for money, particularly the smaller rooms Friendly staff, who love the area Lows Limited mobile signal (a High for us) The river view from the dining terrace is partly obstructed by the car park, but it's still a lovely peaceful spot If driving, bear in mind the town can get snarled up with traffic; we took the train (very handy)" - Liz Simpson

Fantastic stay here. My room was large and comfortable. Breakfast is served in the dining area, there’s a cold buffet and hot options cooked to order, both were included in the price. Vegan options are available. Parking was easy once I’d registered at the desk. Would 100% recommend.

Timbrell’s Yard – Bradford on Avon We loved our stay at Timbrell’s Yard! Our room overlooked the river and had two floors — a cozy bedroom upstairs and a beautiful sitting area below. The atmosphere was charming and relaxing. The food was excellent, and the included breakfast was truly amazing. You could order from the kitchen — from a full English breakfast to avocado toast and eggs — and also enjoy a lovely buffet with fresh fruit, granola, cereals, jams, croissants, and fresh juices. Everything was delicious and beautifully presented. Like most European rooms, it didn’t have drawers for clothes, but the space was large and comfortable. I used the window seat to keep my things organized, and it worked perfectly. The hotel staff went above and beyond expectations — everyone was kind, helpful, and welcoming, making our stay even more enjoyable. Bradford on Avon is spectacular, and the hotel’s location by the river made it even more special. It’s only a quick 15-minute train ride to Bath, so it’s a perfect base for exploring the area. We’re so glad we stayed for four days and would definitely recommend Timbrell’s Yard to anyone visiting the region!

First class service with very friendly staff, our accommodation was fantastic with the room overlooking the river. ||Food was excellent and to watch the chefs cooking your food was a nice touch.||Beautiful walks along the canal and among the small streets finding information plaques detailing the areas past was just perfect. ||I scored a lot of brownie points from my partner for this surprised birthday treat. I cant recommend this place highly enough.

We had a good mezzanine room overlooking the river. The stairs to the bedroom are fairly steep so not recommended for anyone with mobility issues. The bed was very comfortable and very good bathroom facilities. On a very rainy evening we decided to eat in the hotel and all four of us enjoyed our meal. The staff are all very welcoming and friendly. The one 'odd' issue was kitchen supplies being brought in through the dining room at breakfast, allowing a very cold wind to envelop the diners!

Everything here has lovely little personal touches. Can't recommend enough. Also fantastic location for walks along the river and canal.

A warm friendly welcome started our stay off, we were then shown to our room which was spotlessly clean and fitted out to a very high standard. We spent the rest of day strolling by the river and exploring the delightful town of Bradford upon Avon.||After a very comfortable and peaceful nights sleep we sampled some of the many options available for breakfast, the food was well prepared and tasty and the staff were once again friendly and helpful.||All in all, a wonderful experience, our only regret was that we only stayed for one night.

My husband and I stayed two nights to celebrate my birthday. We had such an amazing stay from the moment we got there to the moment we left. Timbrell's Yard is in a brilliant location right in the centre of Bradford On Avon but its set back from the road so is really quiet. A lot of the rooms overlooking the river Avon so are peaceful with lovely views. We had a mezzanine room and it was like being in a posh tree house. Scandi type furniture, soft furnishings, comfortable bed. It was actually a bit magical. Bathroom was a good size with a nice rainfall shower. The staff at Timbrell's Yard are outstanding the three receptionists we saw were friendly, genuine, funny, and helpful. It was the same with the front of house team, bar staff, chefs, managers. They were genuine upbeat and really knowledgeable about the menu and food they served. Breakfast was delicious I had mushrooms and poached eggs on smashed avocado. It had an amazing dressing. I liked it so much I would have had it for dinner if I could have. My husband had poached eggs and hash Browns. It was a!shame as he reported his eggs to be a bit cold. The conversion that the pub made was really sympathetic with the history of the building and the area and just made you feel relaxed. If I had a criticism it was breakfast service was a bit slow and we had to change our menu choices as we had booked a tour. On reflection we should have got up earlier. We both loved every minute of our stay and cannot recommend it highly enough.

Google
This is a big pub with a large dining area and also some hotel rooms. It grew on us. There's nice outdoor seating for the sunny weather and good quality ales. Service is excellent and the place is clean. We first visited just for a quick pint. We went back the next day for a meal. There's limited vegetarian options but the aubergine dish we had was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. We were very impressed with the food, and with the decor in the more modern areas. The building has a fascinating history, which is worth reading about. All in all, I strongly recommend a visit here.

Yelp
This is a really nice pub, located right alongside the river in Bradford Upon Avon. The decor is really nice and the service was pleasant. My husband and I enjoyed their roast dinner on a Sunday. We recommend.

Yelp
It was Fathers day Sunday when we came across this restaurant. Despite not having reservations, they were able to seat us immediately. We had a delicious traditional Sunday roast with roast beef, Yorkshire pudding, potatoes, etc. (All the trimmings!!!!) The staff were so nice and attentive (above and beyond with a sense of humor to boot). They had a wide variety of non-alcoholic drinks which were out of this world good made with local syrups and fresh juices. I'm surprised this place wasn't fully booked given its lovely location by the river and wonderful food!

Yelp
BEST. DESSERT. EVER. Now, it was a special, so I can't say that it will be on the menu when you go, but if you go, do yourself a favor and get the banoffee pie. Incredible. I can't even explain it; it was just amazing. If you like bananas and creamy type desserts, this is the dessert for you. Dinner was ok. I got the gnocchi and it was pretty flavorless. Another clear winner was the cheese fondue fries. I'm drooling just thinking about them. If my main course would've been at least a step above ok, I could manage a 5 star review since everything else was out of the park. But that gnocchi was just not good. At all. But get that banoffee pie and cheese fondue fries and you can't go wrong.

Yelp
Great food and great service. There is a marquee to cater for COVID. You can also sit outside and watch the boats go by. Lovely.

Yelp
Stopped with the family for a weekday lunch. Had the sharer plate and the cod with chimichurri and everything was great, in a gorgeous setting.

Yelp
A gem of a pub/gastro pub in BoA. Food is inventive and tasty and good selection of beers and wines. Great outside space.
