Uzbekistan is a country that you can look at from several aspects, and two are the most important - historically and through the people who live there. You can see and experience Uzbekistan by staying in luxury hotels and visiting famous historical places. Or you can experience Uzbekistan through the people. I was lucky enough to experience it both ways, and this is my story about the MAN and the owner of this small hotel, Mr. Timur. And let me clarify right away, at the very beginning - if you want to get to know Uzbekistan through the people, the way they live and what they really are, this is the place for you. Don't expect a high-tech room, but you will get everything you need - a comfortable bed, clean towels, simple wardrobe, proper air conditioning and a functional bathroom. But at the same time, you will get the hospitality of Mr. Timur and his wife, which is rarely seen today. You will meet hard-working and honest people, with a big heart, who will really go out of their way to meet your needs, even when no one expects or asks them to. You are not guests of this small family hotel, you are friends. In the true sense of the words, you become a part of the house, a temporary member of the family, and then you will discover Samarkand and all its secrets through a completely new prism, which, unfortunately, is denied to all those who come to take pictures of beautiful historical sights. Only when you meet the wholehearted people, will you be able to UNDERSTAND fascinating madrasas, mosques and mausoleums. Because only the beauty of human souls can build magnificent objects. Thanks to Mr. Timur and his family for opening my eyes again after many years, showing me what is actually worth experiencing first and what comes after.

I stayed in a newly renovated room and honestly felt like I was in a five star hotel. Beautiful room, cleaned daily and fresh towels given. Amazing hospitality from Timur and his family. Fantastic breakfast spread served each morning at a time of your choosing. All for US$25 a night. Location is excellent, with the Registan just at the end of the street. Highly recommended!!

We had very pleasant three nights stay in this lovely family run guesthouse. The owning couple was so nice and helpful all along. |Our room was spacious and clean with tea making facilities just outside of our room. |We loved their breakfast (a variety of local food as well as fresh fruits). ||Timur the Great is less than 10 minutes walk from Registan, Samarkand’s major sight (which was very convenient for a quick rest from the boiling afternoon sun). You’ll find good and fairly inexpensive eateries within walking distance. As other reviewers have pointed out the wifi was a bit inconsistent and slow-then again, this seems to be true for most places we stayed at in Uzbekistan. ||Thanks again for a truly pleasant stay and a great hospitality!

Nice guesthouse in a good location. Rooms were new, very spacious and warm!! I was in Uzbekistan in winter and not all rooms were warm in other places I stayed. Owner Timur is very nice and late checkout the day I left was no problem. Breakfast was less spectacular than some but certainly adequate.

Fabulous family homestay||Run by the father Timur, his wife who is an excellent cook and their assisting English speaking daughter , this was the best place of our Uzbec tour.||They went out of the way to make our stay unforgettable, such hospitality and always warm heartedly. We felt part of the family!||The location is perfect: 5 min walk to Registan en 10 to Bibi Kanyum ||We got a free upgrade to the newly build rooms at the back. Big, quiet room, soft matresses, big bathroom and spotless clean.||Cold and hot water, tea always available. Fast WiFi .||Huge breakfast: egg, bun filled with carrot / meat, cheese,baklava, jam, fruits, salad served in the patio.||The mother cooked our delicious dinners , really the best and healthy food we had during our trip. Don’t miss her culinair delicacies||Staying at Timur the great was the cherry on the cake! Don’t miss it!

Friendly, helpful host. Simple and tasty breakfast included. Close to everything you need from shops to restaurants. Clean comfortable room with cozy atmosphere and big bed. Cheap price. The best place of our trip in Uzbekistan.

This was probably the best place we stayed in UZ in terms of value for money/quality balance. We had one of the new rooms which was huge. In-room, good connection Wifi. Bottled water available by front door. Breakfast the best: from eggs to baklava. Loved that the owners did everything from check-in to arranging taxi to the station with a smile. We were even given a little souvenir as we left! Honestly can't think of anything more they could have done to improve our stay.
