During a recent family ski trip to Breck, we stumbled upon a culinary gem that warmed our hearts as much as our bellies - Tin Plate Pizza. Right from the get-go, it was clear this place had its charms, not least of which was their house old fashioned that kicked off the evening with a delightful bang. And for those who prefer brewed over distilled, their beer selection was nothing to scoff at either.
Our culinary journey began with an appetizer round that could only be described as a symphony of flavors. The roasted beet bruschetta and warm spiced olives were the kind of starters that make you forget you're there for the pizza. Speaking of olives, they were nothing short of excellent - a sentiment I could only echo for the small loaf of sourdough bread served with them, had my kids not devoured it in a blink, leaving me to judge solely by their gleeful expressions and crumbs.
The main event was a shared endeavor into the world of pizzas - a classic pepperoni on a thin sourdough crust that mastered the art of being both crisp and chewy, and a fig and prosciutto pizza that, frankly, would be my 'last meal' request without a second thought. Our youngest opted for the meatballs, which, while flavorful, were a tad cool.
The atmosphere was as bustling as you'd expect from a place of this caliber, with us snagging the last table before the waitlist began its evening ascent around 5:00 pm. A 30-minute wait became the norm, but it's a small price to pay for culinary excellence.
Service was friendly and attentive, albeit a tad slow, but then again, when you're in a town where 'rush hour' means the ski lifts are closing, it's all part of the charm.
In summary, our visit to Tin Plate was a highlight of our Breck adventure. It's the kind of place that leaves you planning your next visit before you've even left. So, to the wonderful folks at Tin Plate, brace yourselves - we'll be back, and next time, I'm calling dibs on the bread.
