Tipton's Diner

Date night tonight and we drove the 27 miles to experience Tipton's for the 2nd time. It did not disappoint. The onion rings are to die for. Hubby had the hamburger steak special and it was perfectly seasoned. Chicken fried steak was pretty good, but a little tough. The seasoning was good, though. We will definitely go back again.

Finally had the opportunity to experience this little home-style diner. The atmosphere I thought was amazing, clean, and comfortably simple. You can literally smell the wonderful aroma of the kitchen at work. Decor is a time capsule of memorabilia and photos. My server was friendly and attentive. I have seen some reviews about the "wait", but this is NOT a fast food place, and a HAND written sign clearly says "Food Made to Order". My lunch was fast to table and still hot & steamy! Chicken Fried Steak plate was well proportioned and seasoned. Fish is not a daily lunch offering. Boo. Everything about this place was so enjoyable and I regret that I am not in the area often for lunch. Give it a try if you can!!!

Your typical old school/small town diner. We had the all you can eat catfish for lunch. It was excellent. The coleslaw and beans on the side were also very very good. All you can eat catfish is only on Friday and Saturday. They have a full menu of diner food and hamburgers and sandwiches. Definitely worth stopping if in Anson.

When we were seated, it was 2:10. The place was still full and busy. Took about 10 minutes to get menus orders taken for appetizers, drinks, and food. Got drinks 10 mins later, and we never received our appetizer or salads until our meals were served. That was at 3:15. The food was good, just not worth much to write home about. Never came back to the table and checked on us at all, and by almost 4, it was not busy. We will go back to try the catfish just hoping we will get much better service. Prices were not bad at all. I'm just hoping we catch a better day to eat and be out in under an hr.

This happened 12/20/25. Fish days. The food is always delicious, the wait staff are beyond awesome, I gave a 2 star on atmosphere because when I walk into a restaurant and everything is slammed to where your staff can't even breathe . All the tables are dirty. No bus person. The waitress held her own today, that's for sure. In fact which I thought of doing, but you had some very nice customers bus all the tables in the restaurant. I didn't do it because I was fixing to eat fear of cross contamination. I have been in the restruant buisiness my whole life. If you have a way to cook at a bigger capacity instead of one ticket at a time and turn tables. Waitress making trips count. Training is a must. You could turn your business around to bigger success. I set there and watched customers walk out the door. There is no reason for that. One of your customers found a hair in their food. Not good. Hats or hair nets. As a owner you either need a manager or you should be on site. I truly felt bad for all of your staff today. They should not have to work in that type of situation. You got something good going for you hire help and be good to them. I guess you can call in a order and eat inside, some customers walked in and had their order in 5 mins. Kinda made me think.

Went with a friend and had a chicken fried steak with curly fries and a side of onion rings with some Dr Pepper. My friend had the shrimp plate. The salad was a bit lacking but boy oh boy the main course was amazing, thank you for a great dining experience, will be back soon, keep doing what you are doing!

Stopped in after car show in town(Anson) and had a fantastic catfish special! First comes a nice hot bowl of red beans and jalapeños, then comes a plate with 4 nice catfish pieces, French fries, hush puppies and I had a salad wife had coleslaw which was delicious! There was 7 people in our party but that didn’t stop our server from being attentive. Everyone came out full and happy! Definitely recommend this business!

Had the pleasure of eating at this place today. I thoroughly enjoyed the catfish and fries. It was the best I've had in a long time. Husband had the chicken fried steak and said it was great! The meal was not expensive and the waitress was very friendly and on top of everything. We will certainly be back, I'm getting the chicken fry next time unless I'm craving fish again.

If you're looking for a small country town, hole in the wall, comfort food restaurant, you just hit the jackpot! i've been coming here for several years, and somehow never managed to review it. Well, now it's time! It is 23 miles from home, so you have plenty of time to shoot the bull while you're driving there. My first several times, all I had was a chicken fried steak, which is absolutely delicious. Recently, I found out that on Friday and Saturday they serve all you can eat catfish for $12.50. that's a heck of a deal! You start off with four pieces of catfish, either french fries or a baked potato, and coleslaw or salad. Every order comes with a big bowl of beans that are just absolutely delicious! every time I leave here, I am stuffed to the gills! Service is a little slow because they cook everything fresh. I don't have a problem with that. All the staff have been super nice, so we always tip well. I will definitely be back, and I suggest you give them a try!

Saturday lunch coming through town - Everything was fresh and fabulous! Everyone was ordering the all you can eat fish, but we wanted something "smaller", so we ordered the chicken fried steak sandwich (even toasted bun, yum) and jalapeño melt (juicy, thick meat)!

Hamburger steak was huge and yummy. Chicken fried steak was great. Nachos were huge and taco meat was very tasty. Great little place to stop in and grab a bite.

Old Country Diner in Anson, TX. We come for the All You Can Eat Catfish that is served on Friday & Saturday ONLY! You get 4 pieces of Catfish, FF or Baked Potato, Cold Slaw or Salad, 2 Hush Puppoes and a bowl of the MOST Amazing Beans you have ever had! It dowsn't come out fast, but it is HOT & DELICIOUS! My husband lovea their Homemade Onion Rings! We love that they are Military Owned and they offer a 10% Military Discount!

Came her for breakfast on Sunday, as I was in town for a funeral visiting a relative... Not too much is opened in the small town on Sunday's so we came here by default! We were pleased with the menu, and the quant photos on the wall of the town's history, some of which goes deep in my Anson, blood. It's was pretty cool to see. There is also a wall full of veteran's photos who have served in the town over many many years. Coffee is served fresh, and the refills kept on coming... just the way I like it. I got the biscuits and gravy and they were pretty tasty. My parents raved about the pancakes and how delicious and buttery they were. Give this cute little place a visit!

Food is good but service is super slow. The club sandwich tastes good. I would say call in a head of time and order, or don't go in starving!

Great food and great service. It's nice to have a restaurant with such yummy food in a small town.

We attended a funeral in Anson for one of my best friends and wanted a place to have a nice, relaxing lunch afterward. Comfort food was all I wanted, and boy did I find it here! I researched ahead of time and found this little All-You-Can-Eat Catfish place on Fridays and Saturdays only. We drove up and it looked tiny and divey...and green...which looked great to us. :) We posed for pics outside and went in. Lots of locals inside noshing on their fave dishes. The server came up immediately and brought our drinks and food within minutes. My companions split a huge chicken fried steak and were very happy with it. My order was luscious. The catfish was plenty and crispy on the outside and almost creamy on the inside....probably the best I've ever had. The coleslaw was wonderfully saucy. Yum! The beans were delicious and the fries were crispy. When I asked for a to-go box, the server brought me 3 extra pieces of fish assuming I would have asked for them before boxing up. She was great so we left her a 25% tip. Prices were very reasonable for what you get and there was lots of entertaining historical articles on the walls clear back to the 1940s. The place is super divey....and if I'm ever in Anson again, you can bet I'll be there on a Friday or Saturday. This place is definitely worth a visit!

I posted earlier about this place and how good the food and service WAS!! Walked in at 2:00pm and every table was dirty, could not get service (even a glass of tea) overheard others saying it took them over an hour for for, someone else ordered appetizers and it came out with main meal. Saw who I think was the manager and she did not lift a finger. It's amazing how things can change from one visit to the next. Probably will avoid this place until I see better reviews.

Pretty good home cooked food! The fish is super crispy and yummy. The steak fingers are huge! And the chicken sandwich is delicious. The only complaint I had was that the beans were way too spicy for me. But, to each their own ‍

For a small restaurant in a small town, this place is great. My wife and I have been in several times and the staff and food is outstanding. The waitresses are always smiling, interact in conservation. We have had the fish on Friday / Saturday servings and the chicken fried steak other times. Always good. We were told to try their hamburgers, so I guess next time we will give that a try, I am sure we will not be disappointed.

I have eaten here twice. Both times, i ordered a cheeseburger. It is fantastic. Not sure if i will ever be able to try the other menu items because the hamburger is so good.

I stopped in on Memorial Day. What a surprise! Great cheeseburger with tater tots! Could not have been a more, down to earth, at home eating experience!

The best fried pickles and onion rings around, always fresh never frozen food! The patty melts are the bomb! Delicious absolutely delicious! Service with a smile and time to chat!

We take a lot of road trips. This time we are driving from Central Texas to South Dakota. We love stopping for lunch at local diners. That is how we happened on Tiptons in Anson, Texas. This place is a serious throwback in the best way. They do have a sign when you first walk in claiming that this is not a fast food place, so if that's what you are looking for, just keep moving. We were lucky enough to be here on a Friday when they have all-you-can-eat catfish. It comes with fries, coleslaw, beans and hush puppies. My husband ordered that. He is a fried catfish connoisseur and he said this was possibly the best catfish he's ever eaten. I ordered the patty melt because I saw a review talking about how good it was. It was my first ever patty melt and I think it must be the best patty melt in the world!! We highly recommend this place. The food was so good that we ate more than we should have. The service was friendly and on point with our expectations. If you are through Anson at lunchtime, stop here. Especially if it is Friday or Saturday (for the catfish!).
