A great place to start or end your Albanian adventure! I stayed just one night at Tirana Backpacker Hostel, but it was the perfect stop. The location is excellent — right in the heart of the city and walking distance from all the main sights, cafes, and restaurants. The staff were super friendly and welcoming, always ready to help with tips or just chat. The hostel has a chill, social vibe that makes it easy to meet other travelers. Everything was clean and well-organized, and the garden area is a real bonus to relax after a day exploring Tirana. Whether you're in town for a night or a few days, it’s a solid choice. I’d happily stay again!

While the garden area of the hostel was quite pleasant, the overall experience was soured by the unwelcoming atmosphere and unprofessional conduct of the staff. The hostel seems to attract a particular type of traveler who don’t engage much with others unless you fit their mold. If you’re not part of that scene, don’t expect warmth or friendliness. We mostly enjoyed our stay until the final morning. Unfortunately, we overslept and were 30 minutes late to check out of our room. At no point that morning were we reminded of checkout time—only to be abruptly woken by an irate cleaner. Instead of handling the situation calmly, the cleaner berated and pressured one of the reception staff until he issued each of us a fine of 500 Lek. The fine was obviously made up and something we definitely did not agree to while checking in. Later, when we returned to retrieve an item a friend had accidentally left behind, we were met with a surprisingly hostile attitude from different staff members. They aggressively questioned us on unrelated matters and implied they would not return the item unless we complied, which felt entirely inappropriate and petty. On top of this, we viewed reception staff letting people in without reservations or proof of stay. I even had to send someone away who wasn’t staying at the hostel who was repeatedly buzzing the door for reception late at night. Overall, the hostel failed to provide the basic level of hospitality and professionalism you’d expect. I would not recommend it unless your idea of a good time includes unwelcoming vibes and pretentious staff.

*** AMAZING HOSTEL *** The people, the place and the vibe really are amazing. One of the best hostels I've ever stayed at, felt right at home 💛 The dinner is super tasty, the rooms very clean and the bar area was so much fun (but not in a loud way you sometimes have at hostels). Also: I loved all the artwork and decorations! I'm definitely coming back 😊

Gorgeous hippy-esque hostel run by a bunch of genuinely adorable people! I loved the homemade meals made by the staff (thank you Bernie and Basil!) Fab location, near to loads of shops/bars/cafes etc. Comfy bed with nightlight + shelf + privacy curtain + charging point = perfect!! Breakfast was lovingly spread out by the breakfast matriarch! Lots of lovely fresh fruit, bread, jams and mountain tea 😋 Would stay here again in a heartbeat! 💖 Thank you for making me feel so welcome 🥰

Large rooms comfortable beds, great AC. Has a hippie vibe to it. I forgot my bag at a restaurant in Vlore they went above and beyond to help connect me with a traveler who would pick it up. It’s very nice of them to look out for their guests. Would recommend!

The hostel is very nice and friendly. We met many people over our stay. Specifically Alessia made us feel very comfortable. She made us feel like part of the group and showed us around the city.

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING 10/10!!! What are any question the best Hostel I’ve ever stayed in!!!!! The owner is accommodating and friendly going out of his way to make you feel welcome, and the volunteers were top-notch !! I stayed in the Private accommodation for a total of 10 nights and it was truthfully the most relaxing time I’ve had anywhere in a very long time. Great showers and very comfortable beds plus an atmosphere perfect for solo travelers and groups alike. Perfect location close to many wonderful restaurants and all the sites

The tour with Kris the owner was a 10/10 experience I would recommend. He takes you to places that a very local and you end up as friends with the others. The hostel has a really cozy backyard that’s great for socialising - free breakfast which is a bonus - the workers are super helpful and try to cater to everyone’s needs. Couldn’t stress how helpful and lovely our stay was. Location was a 10/10 with a spar next door and walking distance to everything. Couldn’t recommend enough.
