The Best Things to Do in Bali, the Island of the Gods | Condé Nast Traveler

"Although Tirta Gangga ($3 entry), a former palace turned lavish water gardens, looks like it has existed for several centuries, it was actually conceived in 1946 by the royal Karangasem family. But its far out east Bali location hasn’t stopped travelers from exploring its magical fountains, shrubs, sculptures, and flowers, or positioning themselves on the octagonal stepping stones and feeding the carp. There are also stone spring water pools and you can swim in one of them. The Tirta Gangga is a Balinese fantasyland—colorful blooms, tiered fountains, mythical statuettes, and ponds, all with the imposing Mount Agung in the backdrop. It’s definitely a mood-lifter. These gardens are a top choice for anyone who enjoy beautiful, imaginative landscapes. It’s at least two hours away from Ubud and Bali's southern beach towns—the remote location is part of the allure—still, aim to arrive early in the morning to beat the crowds." - Julia Eskins

Tirta Gangga, Karangasem - Park Review | Condé Nast Traveler

"What's the story behind this place? Although Tirta Gangga ($2 entry), a former palace turned lavish water gardens, looks like it has existed for several centuries, it was actually conceived in 1946 by the royal Karangasem family. But its far out east Bali location hasn’t stopped travelers from exploring its magical fountains, shrubs, sculptures, and flowers, or positioning themselves on the octagonal stepping stones and feeding the carp. There are also stone spring water pools and you can swim in one of them. What’s the vibe like in the garden? This feels like an enchanted water theme park, one that's sure to stir your inner child. Do you need a guide? Driver-guides can pick you up from your hotel, whisk you to the gardens, and pinpoint the best areas to explore. Who comes here? Committed travelers who take the two- to three-hour drive to explore eastern Bali. So is it worth the lengthy drive? The Tirta Gangga is a Balinese fantasyland—colorful blooms, tiered fountains, mythical statuettes, and ponds, all with the imposing Mount Agung in the backdrop. It’s definitely a mood-lifter. Why recommend it to a visitor to Bali? These gardens are a top choice for anyone who enjoy beautiful, imaginative landscapes. It’s at least two hours away from Ubud and Bali's southern beach towns—the remote location is part of the allure—still, aim to arrive early in the morning to beat the crowds." - Travis Levius

The place is so beautiful! We decided to stop here on our way from Sidemen to Amed (we just asked our driver if it would be possible and he was fine with that). You can buy fish food to feed them, it's very cool. Tickets cost 90000 per person. There is parking and many restaurants and shops around.

Tirta Gangga is a peaceful, beautiful escape that perfectly captures Bali’s sense of balance and tranquility. The water gardens are immaculate, the koi ponds are mesmerizing, and the entire space feels calm, intentional, and refreshing. Watching the koi glide through crystal-clear water is surprisingly grounding. The stepping stones, fountains, and surrounding greenery make this an easy place to slow down and truly enjoy the moment. It’s scenic without feeling rushed or overcrowded, and every corner feels thoughtfully designed. Pro tip: Take your time and come with patience, you’ll enjoy it more when you move slowly and soak it all in. If you’re exploring East Bali, Tirta Gangga is absolutely worth the visit.

The entrance fees is high about IDR90,000 but is worth than the other temple like Lempuyung. The fish ponds is really attractive and exciting for the children. The fish foods there are selling is IDR10,000 in a small mineral water bottle. Children enjoying feeding the fish. A lots of fish 🐟 Relaxing seeing the fish here and there. More fun you seeing all the pretty pretty ladies posting here posting there 😂

Tirta ganga is a royal water palace one can take a lot of photos here the most famous photo space is the trail of stepping stones And feeding the koi fishes that swim in the pond. One can also enjoy a boat ride in the larger pool and can also swim in the pool by a paying a extra fee for that. Entry fee will costs around 5.50 USD (495 Indian rupees) for children’s its half the price. Cash is the king bring extra cash here I recommend one can attire modestly here as it’s a holy place well their are no strict rules on it I prefer visiting early in the morning as to avoid peak afternoon crowds

Tirta Gangga, the famous “Water Palace” in East Bali, feels like stepping into a dream woven from water, stone, and sunlight. Built by the royal family of Karangasem, this place is surrounded by lush gardens, clear ponds, and sacred springs that shimmer under the Balinese sky. 🌿 The stone paths float gently over the water, and as you step from one lotus-shaped stone to another, koi fish swirl gracefully beneath your feet. Every ripple feels alive — like time moves slower here. The sound of trickling fountains and the scent of blooming flowers make it a perfect escape from the world outside. There’s a quiet peace in this place — a balance between human art and nature’s beauty. You can sit by the pond, dip your fingers into the cool water, and feel a sense of calm that words can barely describe. It’s not just a sightseeing spot; it’s a place where your soul takes a deep breath. 🌸

An amazing temple and museum with hundreds of koi of every hue and color! Walking on the steps out in the water while feeding the koi was so fun and gorgeous! Restaurants were great! Had gelato that was super yummy! You can even ride a boat and swim in the pool here!

We visited with the 1 Day Insta Tour Package on Trip Advisor and I personally recommend you book with them to get the best informed tour. This garden was once the King's private garden. It's now opened to the public for access and viewing. Although it still has practicioners coming here to meditate, it's still mostly opened to the public. The Koi fish in these ponds are majestic as you'll see in the accompanying videos and photos. The statue as well are just too fantastic 😍 for a first timer to Bali, visiting this Garden first will set the tone for your holidays ❤️💪👍
