Tivoli Coimbra

I had a very spacious room on the 4th floor with nice city views for my overnight stay. Comfortable bed, large wardrobe with big drawers and lots of hanging space, good-sized safe, tv with many channels in different languages, large desk, three chairs and small table. The power sockets were some distance from the desk and table. I appreciated the coffee machine, individual air conditioning, and having a bath as well as a shower. The bathroom was large with lots of bench and storage space. The mixer tap in the sink was very wonky, and one had to climb into the bath to turn on and test the water. ||I had a delicious room service meal - salmon and Mediterranean mashed potato - five stars! The staff were helpful with advice and I was provided with a map which had sights labelled or marked. There were complimentary cold drinks in the lobby. Unfortunately, when I returned to the hotel at 4.30pm (having left my luggage there earlier), my room still wasn't ready (check-in was 3pm). The hotel is well-situated - you can walk to all the main sights, but it's not in a heavily touristy street. Overall, the advantages far outweighed the few issues.

This hotel has the potential to be 4 or even 5 star. What hurts its rating are the stained carpets in the hallways and room and worn furniture in the room. Thankfully the room was very clean. There were 3 coffee pods in the room, for the two of us. When I requested 2 or 3 more, I was told I would have to pay for them at 1 euro each. That really bothered me. You can buy a box of 9 in the close by market for less than 4 euro’s. The view out our window, towards back of hotel, was a bit depressing. What is nice, is the size of the room and bath. Quite large. We upgraded to a larger room and had two chairs and a little table. Unfortunately the chairs were not very comfortable as the cushions needed to be replaced. The hotel is in a good location, making it easy to walk everywhere. There is a very clean laundry a couple of blocks away and a very nice market. They offer a free drink, either beer or wine, if you skip housekeeping. Parking is underground and very, very confusing. They don’t tell you when checking in, but you will need your parking voucher to pay at reception before you can take your car out. This is good to know because we ended up walking back and forth twice trying to figure it out.

Arrived at Coimbra-B and took local bus 50T which was a block away from hotel. Hotel is in nice quiet area. About a ten minute walk City Centers. As you walk towards center there are coffee shops with great pastries. Check in and check out was very easy. I like the room, 521. Good space. Complimentary coffee to prepare and water provided . As a green hotel, if you opt for not having towels changed daily, you get a voucher for free drink in lobby if it’s greater than one night stay. Drink can coffee be hot, cold ,wine or juice. Toiletries are provided so that’s a huge plus. Working safe also provided. If I were to return I would definitely stay here. Staff was friendly and helpful.

Reservation on Nov 4/23, due to a Gymnastics Federation Judges formation in a different hotel. This is our second experience with Tivoli Coimbra adn definitely one to repeat, Great and accessible location. A cozy hotel (our previous experience, a family weekend), impeccable staff & all services: direct reservation with the hotel, accommodation, hygiene, breakfast, parking (both exterior & basement). Definitely an experience to repeat, alternatively with Tivoli NH Dona Ines Coimbra, pendiong on availability. Well done!

Very friendly and professional staff. Breakfast continental is very adequate so are the rooms. Beds are very comfortable and clean room overall! Thank you again. Good location near bus station and walking distance of everything

According to my folks, the food in the hotel was very good. They got a pasta dish and a large salad. Some friends got a pizza and it was ok. Rooms were dated and carpets were stained. Nice service from the hotel staff. The breakfast buffet was good.

Do NOT stay at this hotel if you are leaving early in the morning. I had a 6.50 morning train to catch so I went downstairs around 6.15 to check out. There was no one at the front desk. I knocked on the office door but no one was there either. I was running out of time so I decided just to leave a note and leave. To my surprise, the entrance to the hotel was locked, and I could not get out. I wonder what would happen if there was a fire at the hotel at night. After 5 panic minutes, a guy finally showed up and let me out of the hotel. I barely made it to the train station in time. The room was clean but I would never stay here again.

I stayed at the hotel due to a business dinner with clients. Arrived in the middle of the afternoon and checked in without any major problems.|The hotel is worn out and the level of cleanliness isn't fantastic.|However, the worst thing about the hotel is the service: after dinner, one of my colleagues who had made a paid reservation a long time ago returned to the hotel at the same time as I and was told she had to stay at another hotel of the same company because they only had one room available for a guest who hadn't arrived yet.|Se tried to obtain an explanation about the criteria used to allocate the room (including from the hotel's General Manager - Helena Sequeira). Unfortunately, what we got was silence about the matter.|However, we eventually realized that it was because the other booking had been made via an online platform and the hotel was afraid of the rating that would result from moving this client (with a booking that had not yet been paid for) instead of transferring my colleague (who had a paid-for room).|The way the hotel (staff and manager) handled the whole process (which happened close to 24:00) was too bad.

The location is great, right in the city, one of the only hotels within the city. Very friendly and helpful staff. The hotel and definitely the rooms need to be updated. The breakfast which is included offered a very nice selection.

No TV, no pillows, no aircon. Service so so. Not highly recommended. If I had a choice I would not return here
