Tivioli Palazzo Gaddi Review | Hotels Above Par

"An artful sanctum just around the corner from the Basilica of Santa Maria Novella and a short walk from most of the city’s attractions, this regal small hotel is forged from two side-by-side 15th-century palaces—now connected as one—and bedecked in original frescoes, stucco-work, paintings, lush fabrics, and statuary, living up to its past life as the 16th-century residences of distinguished aristocrats. With maximalist flourishes and period lashings, cleverly designed common-area nooks feel like wunderkammer-like displays, yet it never reads stuffy or old school; rather, contemporary and cosseting, it feels like a private party with just a few lucky souls and hepcats on the guest list. Choose from 86 rooms, including 8 suites, spread between the two blended houses and six stories; more modern than the lobby and bar areas, they retain some original elements, and many face the Duomo. The Presidential Suite, reached by private elevator, opens to an expansive personal terrace. Breakfast carries the cabinets-of-curiosity theme with dramatically festooned tables of fresh-baked breads, homemade jams, Prosecco, and perfectly brewed coffees. On-site, taste creative cuisine at Terrae overseen by Chef Iside de Cesare (of Michelin-starred La Parolina) and executed by Chef Salvatore Canargiu from seasonal bounty; two standouts are roasted lamb with preserved lemon and sardines, and risotto with black chanterelles. The Milton Bar & Bistrot, with masculine vibes, nods to the famed English poet who visited in 1638 and was inspired to write Paradise Lost; expect stunning cocktails (try the Paradise Lost, awash in floral notes from the hotel’s Secret Garden) and comfort food from burgers to ravioli. A Tea Room with delectable offerings makes for a civilized place to sit and study guidebooks. Up top, Aria Rooftop—our favorite for vibe and view—frames the Duomo so closely it looks touchable; reserve for sunset and sip craft cocktails as the sky turns candy marshmallow pink. Classic five-star amenities include special turndown gifts and twice-daily housekeeping, plus standout concierge suggestions, immersive in-house activities such as cooking classes, and VIP off-property outings from helicopter rides over Tuscany to Chianti wine tastings. Meeting rooms are atmospheric and historic, there’s a centuries-old ballroom with majestic frescoes by Giacinto Fabbroni (ideal for weddings), it’s pet-friendly, and the verdant indoor/outdoor Secret Garden is an outstanding city refuge. Set in the Centro Storico, you can walk to everything, including the Ponte Vecchio and the city’s most prominent galleries." - Becca Hensley

Tivoli Palazzo Gaddi (Florence, Tuscany) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"A pair of painstakingly restored 16th-century palaces, once the homes of aristocratic Florentine families, have reopened as the luxurious Tivoli Palazzo Gaddi. The location around the corner from the Basilica of Santa Maria Novella is excellent, but there’s no doubt that the hotel’s star attraction is the dazzling panorama of another church, the Duomo, from its rooftop bar. Several suites and rooms enjoy the same view, and their period charm has been well-preserved, though the Renaissance-era atmosphere is more on display in the ground-level salons and ballroom, with their frescoed ceilings and original artworks. Breakfast is served in a secret garden-styled courtyard, and the elegant lobby bar, with its wood paneling and antique fireplace, looks straight out of a gentler past." - Tablet Hotels

I had an amazing stay at this hotel. The staff were incredibly friendly, and the atmosphere was cozy and welcoming. The restaurant team was very attentive, and the breakfast offered a great selection. I’m especially thankful that my special food request was taken care of. The rooms were wonderful — cozy, clean, warm, and with an unforgettable view. The location is right in the heart of beautiful Florence. I will definitely return. Highly recommended!

We recently had the pleasure of staying at Tivoli Palazzo Gaddi in Florence. The experience was nothing short of spectacular and we enjoyed every minute of our stay there. The rooms, the staff, the service were exceptional. On our last day at the hotel, I happened to lose my engagement ring (a family heirloom that holds significant value to me and my husband). I realized that when we had already checked out of the hotel and were on our way to our next destination. I emailed the hotel and Cecilia from Guest Relations quickly responded to me, assuring me that the hotel will help me find the ring. They were able to find my ring in the room we were staying in and were kind enough to mail it to me at my hotel in Rome. The hotel’s response to this situation, and their overall service during our stay showed us exactly why the hotel is so highly rated. Truly a 5 star experience; we can’t wait to be back!

Beautiful hotel in the center of Florence. Rooftop terrace provided panoramic views of the city. Common areas very welcoming and restaurant served excellent food. But the best part was the hotel staff who made our stay exceptional. In particular, Michele, our guest relations contact, arranged private walking tours of the city and an excursion to the surrounding countryside for lunch at a vineyard and several beautiful towns. Both done on very short notice. Five star service. Looking forward to our next visit to the Tivoli.

I stayed here 5 nights for my honeymoon. For the price paid, you would have expected something premium and on par with a new 5 star hotel. The road from the train station is not convenient as it is full with stone pepples which could easily damage your luggage. It would take quite a difficult effort to pull the luggage through the way. I booked a room with bath tub. On my 1st night of stay, I discovered a water leakage with the bath tub. I requested for repair on the next day and specifically mentioned they may have to change the plug which has worn out. Upon my return, the reception informed me the bath tub has been repaired. However it turns out not. I requested for repair again the next day, and the hotel asked me to stay in the room for the maintenance to come and check what happened. Turns out the maintainence said the reception misunderstood the matter was drainage blockage. In any event, it falls below the expectation of a 5 star hotel. Lastly, our stay ended unhappily when upon our checkout, we were informed by the reception that we can order food at the lounge and bring them to the rooftop to enjoy the view. Upon our ordering, the lounge said we cannot bring the food up, different from what the reception informed us. We eventually had to pay for more than what was reasonable for dining at the lounge which is not value for money if the scenary of the rooftop is not included. The stay did not end well and we had bad memories for our honeymoon trip. I would warn against visitors for choosing this hotel who would expect something of a 5 star experience.

Palazzo Gaddi Tivoli is truly a hidden gem in the heart of Florence. Located less than a five-minute walk from Santa Maria Novella, it’s perfectly situated and easy to reach. Our guests and we stayed here during our wedding this August, and we couldn’t have been happier with our experience or the immense hospitality shown by the entire Palazzo Gaddi team. The hotel beautifully balances the designer feel of a boutique property with the amenities of a much larger one. The lobby, rose garden, and rooftop bar are all stunning—worth visiting even if you’re not staying overnight. Service: We cannot say enough wonderful things about the Meeting & Event Manager, Veronica. From the moment we first visited the hotel, she went above and beyond. Despite our last-minute request, she graciously squeezed us in for a tour that was incredibly thoughtful and detailed, walking us through every option for how we could use the spaces for our wedding events. She even surprised us with drinks and samples of light bites the hotel could provide—a truly lovely touch. Throughout the months leading up to the wedding, Veronica’s care and attention to detail were exceptional. She coordinated beautiful bouquets to be waiting in our parents’ rooms (they were stunning!) and added countless personal touches to make our stay special. When we checked into the Presidential Suite, we were greeted with a handwritten wedding note, delicious aperitifs and snacks, and a beautiful gift from the Farmaceutica di Santa Maria Novella. On our wedding day, she surprised us again with another sweet note and a candle from the hotel’s own collection—her kindness and thoughtfulness made us feel so pampered and cared for. We also hosted several small champagne toasts and celebrations in our suite’s private patio, and the staff was wonderful about accommodating all our requests (and frequent asks for extra glassware!). They helped coordinate taxis for our entire wedding party with professionalism and care, ensuring everyone felt looked after. Our guests absolutely raved about their experience. Room: We stayed in the Presidential Suite, and it was easily one of the highlights of our trip. The room is spacious and beautifully designed, with breathtaking views and a private patio that connects directly to the rooftop bar. After four nights of wedding celebrations, returning to this serene, elegant space each evening felt like a dream. Waking up to the Duomo visible through our window is something we’ll never forget. A huge thank you to Veronica and the entire Palazzo Gaddi team for making our stay so memorable. You made our wedding week in Florence truly magical—we can’t wait to return to our favorite city and stay with you again!

Outstanding hotel and staff! Absolutely fabulous in our opinion. The staff, including Tommasso C., Alessia, Michele, Tommaso G., Benedetto, Marco and the entire staff were incredibly helpful, friendly, engaging, and fun! They were all exceptional. We have stayed there in 2018, and this year, and we will always stay here when in Florence. One of our most favorite hotels anywhere! Absolutely recommend!

This hotel really is wonderful in hardware and software, the combination is a winning formulae! When we first stepped in, the gorgeous perfume in the lobby was already a winning factor! The decoration from the lobby, lounge area, lift area to the bedroom gives us a feeling of heart warming, homey yet exclusive without being arrogant, quality touches were used throughout the hotel to the bedrooms. We had a window view of the Duomo so that was great! Bed was comfortable and kudos on investing in good bathroom slippers as they were so comfortable! Room was ok in size but felt comfortable for both of us. I absolutely love the staff in reception! They epitomise the " over and beyond" , exceptional customer service that every hotel should have! We accidentally drove into the restricted zone road outside the hotel on check out day and they quickly resolve our issue and even got someone to park our car for us so that we can eat our lunch nearby!! It’s staff like you Ana who make our stay truly memorable and a high benchmark of great service for all hotel staff! The location is great, a short walk to the Duomo and many other great attractions. The rooftop view of the Duomo is also breath-taking especially during sunset and at night. Drinks are quite expensive up there though. Breakfast in the hotel is great, love the quality of ham, cheese and wonderful pastries every morning! I would definitely highly recommend this hotel in Florence and looking forward to coming back to stay next time!

There were a lot of nice things about that hotel: location is great- walking distance to train station and many main tourist attractions, nice bathroom products- Aqua Di Parma, and i absolutely loved that they had hair styling tools (including good quality curler and hair straightener!!). Excellent bed and bedding! One of the doormans was very polite and always smiled- just very positive. I also thankful for plate of fruits on arrival and opportunity to check out at noon||But also, few things i didn’t like: bathroom door that does not latch and opens with any movement, inconsistent maid service, room layout is very cramped and difficult to navigate, especially at night. I also didn’t like their breakfast buffet, very few choices- a lot of pastry like options- that are not good
