On the Grid : Tivoli Road Bakery

"Tivoli Rd Bakery is your source for a selection of fruit danishes, brownies and the most scrumptious donuts in South Yarra. Get there early and you might just get your hands on a little piece of cronut heaven (the beautiful mix of croissant and donut). After something savory? Thick-cut sandwiches and home-made sausage rolls await and won’t disappoint. So get out there and let it show, you love the dough." - Blueboat

Been coming here for 3 years and the pastries have always been great. However, there have been a few instances of price discrepancies and missing orders, so I could see improvements in service to really boost the establishment. Picked up a slice of their bread and butter pudding with apricots this morning, and while lovely I was surprised to pay $9 at the till, given there’s to pricing signage anywhere. I would recommend that items are labelled with a description and price, as sometimes I am surprised at the total when paying (as was the case today). All in all, great local bakery.

Small shop with big surprises! The bakery is so colourful and tasty. You can taste and smell the freshness in them. Definitely recommend!

Google
A lovely artisan bakery with quality goods. Primarily we came for the almond croissant in our journal of the best Almond Croissant in Melbourne and Aus. Tivoli scores a solid 7.5/10, generous filling, not as airy as I'd like but a definite recommender stop if you're around and craving an almond croissant. Will definitely stop by again when we're in the area again!

I tried pastry and skinny latte! The coffee was delicious, the bread was delicious~ It's a good place to work alone :) I couldn't eat meat pie because I was full, but I'm going to eat it next time!

Very expensive. 1 iced latte, 1 “large” cappuccino and a pastry for $19. Ordered a large cappuccino was given a small one instead. When I asked the rude Asian lady about it, she told me they only have one coffee size even though there are three different cup sizes displayed on the counter.

May-24: still amazing bacon and egg rolls, Palmier also excellent. Not as busy today compared to august-23 (visited on a Sunday both times) Aug-23: Wow, really beautiful bakery, and the service was excellent. The bacon and egg roll was definitely my favourite, everything about this worked and I wanted another. I also really enjoyed the ham, cheese and tomato croissant, it was surprisingly juicy and the texture was great. The almond croissant was above average, but I'm not sure if it was worth all the rage. The best item was the Palmier, I think it was the best I have ever had (better than any I have had in Europe).

Fantastic bakery! I haven’t been in 10years until today and I really REALLY enjoy the beef pie with chutney. Next time I gotta try the crème brûlée croissant!

Yelp
Just off Toorak Road, Tivoli Road Bakery is a small but lively cafe, offering freshly baked bread and pastries. Be warned, it is 'the place to be' and is usually very busy however, with the skill and precision of the staff, you won't be waiting long. The staff are always happy to chat, bringing the bakery to life. Strawberry Danish This danish is great for a sweet start to your morning! With strawberries and almonds, it's definitely suitable for all of the sweet-tooth's out there! Custard Donut These donuts are incredible! The donuts themselves, covered in sugar, are soft and sweet. The filling (available in custard, caramel and Nutella), is creamy and delicious. They're perfect for an afternoon tea treat.

Yelp
Was here for a short stay in Melbourne and on the hunt for best meat pies .. this place was recommended as one of the top ten.... Travelled on a cold wet raining day 40 min by train on a Monday only to find it heads closed at 2:00 pm when the website said 3:30 pm ... very disappointing !!!! If you're going to advertise on the web please list your correct times !!!!

Yelp
First visit here all looked great walking up at 7:28am Saturday 4 people out front all talking how they open right on 730 not a second earlier. Such treatment of what appeared to be regulars needs to be addressed it's like we are a burden. One size coffee, come on we like choice not profit seeking one size strategies to make you drink more. The pastry was fine, coffee Luke warm when asked for extra hot and wanted to buy take away pastries etc but two serving with a big line they need more staff. A once only visit venue for me.

Yelp
Magic, 3/4 Soy Lattes, Donuts filled with salted caramel... yep Movida Bakery is awesome. Hiding around the corner from the start of chapel street, it is a nice little bakery for a small catch up. I am keen to try out the breads on offer the next time I visit, Gluten Free Bread is only available on the weekend and they do seem to run out of their sweet options quite quickly... so, GOOD LUCK!

Yelp
The chicken sandwiches here are great. The bread is complex. Good mix of seeds in it. It's complex. Let it work it's ancient magic on you. A lot of talk about their sausage rolls too. I wasn't a fan, however don't disregard them. I'm a reformed vegan so maybe it was a little much for me. It is worth noting I ate it in the car on a hot day. And it was after finding out I'd been called a "weird slut" by a guy I was into. That hurt. Yes, I might have misjudged the sausage roll. One final thought: always buy their hot cross buns. Supremely delightful. The waiters are welcoming too.

Yelp
Movida Bakery has now become our morning stop for fresh bread loaves. Every other day, we stroll down the street and pick up their classic sourdough or soy/lin, usually still fresh from the oven. They are crusty and heavy - heavy! - like fresh bread should be, and per a comment on Movida's instagram, are 100% natural. A major highlight, though, is the fruit loaf: a dark, dense rectangle packed with pistachios, dried apricots, currants and other flavorsome fruit. Not to be missed.

Yelp
Pretty great vibe for this end of Chapel. Coffee is guaranteed delicious (although note there is no large size) and the baked treats (salted caramel doughnuts, rhubarb pasties just for starters) are great. If you are lucky you may catch a cameo appearance of Frank Camorra. The staff always seem to be standing a little bit taller when this occurs!

Yelp
Food is good and baked goods great. Staff friendly, environment very hipster and cool.

Yelp
Great pastry and good bread. The staff is friendly and they serve good coffee. One of the best bread in Melbourne. A nice place to have a quick breaky too

Yelp
After changing ownership and name, Tivoli Road Bakery was at risk of losing the following it had gained as Movida Bakery. This has not been the case. The coffee is good, but the food is better! I'm guilty of being in there most weekends picking up a coffee, sandwich and a salted caramel donut. As other yelpers have stated the donuts are amaze-balls. There's also a great selection of delicious pies, sausage rolls and other treats. Only negative is the wait for a coffee can sometimes blow out. Might need two baristas on the coffees in peak times.

Yelp
Oh my goodness...we sampled one of their donuts at the Abbotsford Convent farmer's market and it was divine! A sugar coated ball of dough, filled with a fig-leaf raspberry cream. AMAZING. Such subtle and elegant flavors!

Yelp
Does what it says on the wrapper - offering delicious pastries, bread and donuts that you would associate with this iconic name of Melbourne.

Yelp
Been wanting to try this place for ages. I tried the famed sausage roll, chicken and leak pie, caramel doughnut and bought a loaf of rye grain bread. The warm stuff was ok but nothing to write home about. The pastry was soggy was not flaky at all. Very pricey for the portions and quality. Overrated.

Yelp
Simple environment and friendly crew. Brilliant donuts and good coffee. A nice relaxer for afternoon tea.
