Asteri is one of the best restaurants on the island. It's definitely worth the trip from the city, the views on the road and once you get there are beautiful. Visit the abandoned village of Anavatos or the lovely beach of Tigani before you eat and watch the sunset. Everything is delicious especially the Kontosouvli and the green balls. Highly recommend- don't go to Chios without visiting this taverna.

We were drawn to this place because of its high rating and all the glowing recommendations, but unfortunately, it didn’t quite live up to our expectations. First of all, the portions are huge, so please keep that in mind when ordering! We had a Greek salad, dolmas, potato croquettes, goat stew, and a steak. Everything was just… okay. Nothing was particularly bad, but also nothing really stood out — definitely not a “wow” experience in terms of flavor. The view is stunning, no doubt about that, but it was hard to enjoy because the place was full of wasps. They do place little dishes with burning coffee on the tables to keep them away (which helps a bit), but if you’re scared of wasps or sensitive to them, it’s something to consider. It did affect the overall atmosphere for us. On the plus side, the service was very fast and efficient — everything we ordered came out quickly. That said, it would’ve been nice if the staff had warned us about the portion sizes, especially since we were just two people. We paid €61 in total for all the dishes plus wine, which felt like good value considering the quantity — but if you’re a party of two, one main dish with a few appetizers would definitely be more than enough.

We went here twice actually, once on a Sunday afternoon and again for a sunset dinner. Both times the service was great, specifically for our dinner—kind and helpful staff. We did not think to make a reservation but were accommodated anyway (strongly recommended now that I know, they were very busy even on a Wednesday) but summer is surely almost always like this with the additional tourists. Prepare to wait a bit, and maybe you’ll have to be a bit assertive to get your waiter’s attention, it’s normal. But we had no problems. Orestis was very friendly and gave us good advice on the wines, he is actually trained in this area and very knowledgeable. Don’t order too much to start, the plates each have a lot of food relative to their low price point. You will be full before you know it! Sunset is amazing, as many others said. Great ambiance, great location. Nothing else to add, fantastic place!

The sunset view is beautiful, and we enjoyed our meal at a lovely table facing the scenery. We visited during sunset, which is naturally a very busy time. It felt like the number of staff was limited, so they couldn’t provide as much attention to each table as they might have wanted, though it might have just been our experience that evening. The dakos salad and lamb chops were delicious. They also offered fruit as a treat to other tables, but not to us, which was a bit surprising.

Never disappoints me and my guests. If you want to see the beautiful sunset you should go at least 30 min before the sunset. Don’t forget to make reservation or you may need to sit inside that will not be fancy especially in summer time. Try Traditional Sheftalia, you won’t regret it 🤤 The staff is amazing and always kind to you. The prices are a bit comparing the rest of the island but definitely worth it.

Great location. Average food and service. Despite goodwill and effort, the kitchen and the service couldn't cope with the "tables". The place has a serious problem with the honey bees and wasps. They are all over and the coffee been burning is not enough to keep them away.

First of all we don’t get the hype. Yeah the view is good but its in the middle of the mountain. For food?? We will never go again. Do not eat lamb chops. We ordered 1.5kg of it and it was just bones. It was hard to chew and for the price we paid, it was not worth it. I will definitely not recommend. It is a tourist scam. One last thing if you want to fall for the scam, be ready to eat your meals with the bees.

Is it a restaurant? The view is amazing, and yes, especially for the sunset. The food? We will never know. It seemed like a joke at first, but we could never place an order. First some of the typical usual nonsense with a QR coded menu; asking questions about the wine on offer seemed to stress our server out. We did eventually get a salad and some wine... and then waiting... and more waiting... All right, they Were a little busy, there were only two people working, we are patient people... the sunset was lovely. Then after a while, an hour at least, it began to seem like some kind of strange joke. We were getting hungry. We could not get anyone to look out way. Then our waitress simply disappeared inside and never reappeared. (I thought she must have gone home for the night.) The other fellow had blinders, and appeared to be completely focused on clearing the abandoned table. After over an hour of this ennui, no exaggerating, we decided to give up & asked for our check. We basically had to yell to get the guys attention, then... more waiting. Anyhow final score: customers zero satisfaction, restaurant zero hospitality.
