Toakari

Travelled about 50 minutes and walked to this restaurant based on positive reviews, but the experience did not meet expectations. An appetizer (1,060 yen) was charged even though we did not order it, possibly due to a communication issue. For reference, 4 dishes, 1 appetizer, 1 scoop of gelato, and 3 drinks (2 lemon sours and 1 oolong tea) came to approximately 10,200 yen. Based on my experience dining at similar establishments in Japan, the pricing here is higher, as comparable meals are often available for a fraction of the cost. This place may be enjoyable for foreigners who are new to Japan and are looking for English-friendly service; however, those prioritizing taste may wish to consider other options. Most of the food dishes in the Omakase course were absolutely delicious, especially the Strawberries with Mock-Meat and Miso. The Wagyu steak was also extremely delicious and one of the most tender cuts of meats that I've ever had. The head chef was very informative and enthusiastic, which was nice. However, it seemed that only the head chef was cooking in the kitchen and the other staff were just taking orders or preparing ingredients, leading to very long wait times. After our Omakase courses were over, we waited for nearly 40 minutes for our fried rice. Also, the restaurant is very small, which made it a bit stuffy and warm when the main crowd had arrived.

Easily the best meal we had in Tokyo and one of the top three I’ve had in my entire life. We went without a reservation and got so lucky: just as we arrived, a few guests were finishing their dinner, so we got a table right away. The food was incredible. The chef cooks everything right in front of you with such detail and precision — a true master of his craft. We tried the tasting menu so we could experience as many dishes as possible, and honestly, everything was a 10/10. If you’re in Tokyo, this place is an absolute must. Don’t miss it. 🇯🇵✨

Hands down the best meal I’ve had in Japan across 7 trips here. The chef is friendly and charismatic, and the food is incredibly original yet delicious. Will be back here again!

The chef is an absolute master of his craft, each and every bite is perfectly curated for your tastebuds enjoyment. If you want to see a true genius at work come to Toakari. Not to mention the extremely kind and welcoming staff!

My favorite part about visiting Japan is that it's so easy to walk into some small shop with a lonely sign outside, and you will find yourself getting a meal worthy of a Michelin Star. ❤️ I found this spot on my last day in Tokyo and it made me so angry because it was so good I wanted to come back again! 😅 Everything we ate was AMAZING! Plus watching them cook various other dishes from the menu had my mouth watering and me wanting to come back to try the rest of the menu. Chefs and staff were super amazing, helpful, and just all around great. Food was phenomenal! Inventive, delicious, and a perfect combination of flavors and style. Bring your appetite when you come here! Make a night of it and get drinks (I loved their lemon sours, so refreshing!) appetizers and a main course. Indulge yourself here.

Watch out! Limited English proficiency...they brought us multiple things we didnt order and then charged us 😤 The food was spectacular and is the only reason I give above 2 stars 🌟 Just be careful out there if youre traveling 🙏
