The perfect big breakfast spot before a big dive. Amazing everything!!! Coffee drinks are the best on the island offering everything from Vietnamese iced coffee to coffee coladas

As a transient local, have been supporting this business for over the years and have never experienced such volatile, aggressive, and unprofessional behavior as I did today from the “Manager.” As usual, I order my food over the phone and pick up as I normally do. I asked for extra syrup and never been asked to pay for extra syrup. I asked a simple question to the Hispanic cashier/server when did the up-charge effectively begin since I was literally there couple days ago and was never charged for extra syrup. As the cashier was explaining that the charges effectively started today, the “Manager” rudely interrupted our conversation and started shouting and cursing at me out of nowhere. The manager screamed at me saying she can charge me whatever price she wants and that I don’t need anymore syrup. I asked her what was her name and she refused to tell me her name. She said, “I’m a human, I don’t have to tell you my name.” I was dumbfounded. She began screaming and cursing at me even more in front of the other patrons. I never once stated I had an issue paying for the extra syrup but just inquired with the cashier when did the up-charge started effectively. I have never in my life experienced such unprofessional and disrespectful behavior by a so-called manager who dressed as if she just woke up out of bed with a bonnet still on. She needs to be fired for her disrespectful and aggressive behavior towards paying patrons. Not only did she curse at me in front of other patrons but also in front of my 4-year old daughter.

Breakfast is always great! The homemade hot sauce is good! Always a great place to eat. The Arepas is outstanding, had the Pltano, greatly surprised.

Google
This restaurant is on point! We went for breakfast and we ended up having some delicious cocktails and they have a great environment and friendly staff. LGBT+ friendly and overall a great environment. It caught up my attention that their bar top is actually decorated with old Venezuelan currency and if you are from Venezuela looking at these bills will bring you memories for sure. Overall a great experience and I'll highly recommend it 🔥🔥🔥

Google
Favourite brunch on st croix! Quick service to get an easy-to-eat and delicious arepa, as well as good for a casual sit down brunch. There is a small number of seats available for indoor dining, and a few tables outside, but then a whole boardwalk with benches if those are busy. I had the lox arepa for $10 and it was well loaded with all the toppings listed — the arepa itself was great too: crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside, and gluten free. We LOVED the rum cake French toast — strongly recommend this, we got it as a shared item as it is pretty sweet, but delicious, and a must-try. Someone at our table ordered the cruzian breakfast, and all that was listed was done well. There are also a number of other breakfast options, from açai, oatmeal, eggs and bacon, etc. as a testament to the variety available. Everything was reasonably priced and delicious!

Google
My husband & I had Breakfast this morning at Toast Diner. We each had the American Breakfast (2 eggs, bacon, hashbrowns & toast). It was very good! The service was great & Anthony & Chantal made sure everything was perfect. We will definitely be back & I think will try the French Toast. I saw some other people getting that & looked YUMMY! YOU ALL WERE AMAZING!!

Yelp
Had a thoroughly enjoyable Sunday breakfast. It was busy but didn't have to wait, staff was attentive and took order promptly. Coffee was good, and refilled quickly. Breakfast was good: they have vegan and gluten free options (red white blue açaí bowl), and a full lunch/breakfast menu. I'll be back to try the rest of their menu.

Yelp
Service is horrendous, like literally the worst ever they don't greet you, they're simply upset that you chose to eat there, they take forever, and they don't care if you return or not. To the business owner the two light skinned girls at the front especially red hair who doesn't know words and can't hear or project, are going to be the down fall of your small business If you're from the US and you want a nice peaceful normal breakfast where people ask you for your order and they greet you before you greet them go to Caroline's

Yelp
The food was absolutely everything I want in breakfast! Ambiance was also awesome to see locals and tourists you can tell they know what they are doing ! The arepa gringo and the hash-brown skillet is what I had and it was TOP NOTCH!

Yelp
This is a great local breakfast/lunch place. I'm pretty sure it is family owned but all I know is the service was amazing and the drinks and food were even better. Make sure to stop here and get yourself some good food and some great drinks while you're hanging out in Christiansted, we were surprisingly amazed by the delicious food and sauces they had for this location. We absolutely would come here every single day if possible and I can comfortably say this is the best bloody Mary spot I've ever enjoyed!!! Thank you so much to the toast team!!!!

Yelp
We felt this was hotel style continental breakfast quality food. If you like very simple eggs on a griddle and white packaged bread toast, you'll be happy. Mango passion fruit juice was super sweet. The hash brown casserole has cream cheese and cheddar cheese in it, in addition to whatever you ask to add to it (not good for dairy free guests!) The arepa was super bland. Eggs were cooked well, but nothing to write home about. Hubby thought the pancakes were average (think Bisquik).

Yelp
Our party visited this spot for breakfast around the early morning. We were seated outside and were told that large groups that arrive together must be seated together, so we all sat outside. We ordered water and the only option was bottled water. The waitress was a bit condescending as annoyed as she was taking our order and we tried to be understanding and efficient. The food was not flavorful, very bland and I ordered the crucian breakfast. The corn cakes were bland and they were advertised as the worlds most famous breakfast food, but they seemed to be frozen corn patties. The fish was salty and decently flavored but all the menu items we tried were very basic given the price paid. We understood the upcharge for food in this area but were disappointed with the quality. The workers seemed to be tired and not very accommodating. However, once we got near paying the bill, the waitress changed her attitude quickly(a bit strange). Unfortunately i cannot recommend due to the service we received.

Yelp
Pro: Pretty good eats on the Christiansted waterfront! Toast delivers a decent array of options for the vacationing diner and the local diner alike. You want something on the continental side, i.e. biscuits & gravy or scrambled eggs? They got you. You want to try a Crucian breakfast with stewed salt fish? They got you! How about an arepa stuffed with a protein? THEY GOT YOU! All hits, no misses! Con: small countertop dining with a few outdoor tables = not the best for large groups Bottom Line: Start your Crucian morning off right right with breakfast at Toast!

Yelp
Absolutely wonderful solo breakfast at Toast Diner. This breakfast/brunch/lunch spot is a small, funky diner with some really great food and a variety of boozy beverages. The menu offers some traditional American/western options and a number of breakfast staples with a little local touch. Service was great. Highly recommend. Outdoor seating available and inside there's a few tables plus a bar rail inside with barstools. Air conditioning too.

Yelp
During my stay in St.Croix, I wanted to start my morning off with a nice breakfast. At the recommendation of the host at the boutique hotel where I was staying, I tried toast. It was a very good recommendation. I ordered grilled rum cake French toast. Although the server brought syrup to the table, none was needed. I am now addicted to grilled rum cake. I also had a side of scrambled eggs with it. On another visit later during my stay on the island, I had a proper Cruzian breakfast. This was stewed saltfish with wilted spinach, plantains, and eggs. I used the arepa that came with it to sop up any gravy. Totally won me over. This will be one of my "go to" restaurants when next I return to St. Croix for a visit.

Yelp
Centrally located downtown. Good place to grab breakfast. It was really busy so we had to wait a bit for our food but when it finally arrived it was hot and delicious. We sat at the bar in the air conditioning. They also have outdoor seating. There's not many choices for breakfast in this area so be prepared to wait and be patient. It's worth it!

Dr. Jasmine M.

Yelp
We sat at the counter for breakfast. You can see the kitchen from the counter and can tell it's made with love. I got the 3 your way with turkey bacon and a biscuit instead of toast. The biscuit was amazing, must try. My fiancé had the French toast with turkey bacon and he loved it. Would definitely return for a big breakfast. It's small but has seating outside as well. I did see many people order to go.

Austin K.

Yelp
Worst service and food ever. Behold that Chicken and Biscuits (Photo attached) Two tiny biscuits (not homemade) Two chicken tenders LOL One piece of cheap Kraft cheese ripped in half (one half for each biscuit Two pickle slices And the side of chips..... in bag... on the plate Server was the most disrespectful waitress on island that clearly hates where she works and what she does. Do not go

Yelp
Nice lil breakfast/lunch spot by the water. The food tasted fresh and like it was made from scratch. Really good flavors overall. The avocado sauce in my arepa was delicious & the queso fresco in there was perfect. Just a heads up that they will automatically charge you a "surge charge" if your group is more than 5 people. Service could be better. Our waiter had an attitude & we kept having to ask for things they forgot to bring out.
google avatar

Yelp
I am giving this 5 stars because of service. Our server was just lovely. She was very helpful with directions to local businesses, prompt, & friendly. My husband ordered the regular breakfast which included a choice of meat, scrambled eggs and toast for $10. I ordered the rum cake French toast. It was really good but a bit one dimensional. This meal could have really been improved with a side of fresh fruit compote and maybe some creme fraiche. Don't get me wrong, it was very good. I just am suggesting a few things to improve the dish. It was $14, which wasn't terrible. I also ordered guava mimosa

Yelp
When we first arrived on the Island, it was brunch/lunch time. Our room wasn't quite ready so I asked the staff for a recommendation in town. No question, Toast was a local favorite. The recommendation did not disappoint one bit. Centrally located in the small town and a short walk for us from our hotel, we found this little diner. Cute decor to look at while enjoying our tasty meal and planning our time in town was true perfection. I enjoyed a Vietnamese iced coffee and an over the top, delicious order of avocado toast which was very good. Everything was island fresh and service was top notch.
google avatar

Yelp
It's alright! I got scrambled eggs with ham, cheese and I added plantains. Plantains were good. Ham tasted well but I can make better scrambled eggs and cheese. The place is small, hidden and like a fast thing type of breakfast joint. Service was ok.
google avatar

Yelp
Very friendly service, reasonable prices and a great variety. Highly recommended if you're looking for a laid-back spot for breakfast.
google avatar

Yelp
I heard this place was good but upon arrival, I was ignored and not even acknowledged at all.

Jessica F.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite spots to have breakfast when we visit. The food is so, so good and our service was top notch. Visitors sometimes forget we're on island time here and with limited help. How can you complain about a small wait with such a beautiful view?! Really, really great food!
google avatar

Melissa W.

Yelp
Great little breakfast/lunch spot. We got arepas. So good. Also got sweet plantains as a dessert, so good. The server even gave us a cupcake for free! Will be back

My breakfast spot every time I visit. Great food, friendly service. Always a pleasure

Yelp
I tried to go to Toast the other day but it was closed due to Easter weekend, so I was happy they they were open this morning. This is the best breakfast I had on island. *Note: I am submitting this review about a week after visiting as I forgot to hit Submit!* I got the 3 Eggs Your Way with scrambled eggs, wheat toast, hash brown casserole, and turkey bacon. Everything was delicious! I don't eat pork and generally find turkey bacon to feel like plastic, but theirs was great. The toast was soft and the hash brown casserole was the bomb (I don't normally go for "casseroles" of any type). I realize the photo I took of my plate may not have you jumping out of your seat, but this was really a great meal. It's easy to appreciate the array of items on their menu as well--arepas, anyone? They also have a variety of fresh juices and other things, along with friendly service. While I was there, I noticed several locals who were clearly known entities to the staff. There's that homey sort of feeling that's common in Christiansted anyway, which is always a good thing.
google avatar

Yelp
Our favorite breakfast spot on the island. From traditional to local breakfast, they have it covered. Great place to sit outside, and people watch as well. Great service...
google avatar

Yelp
This was a great afternoon lunch after snorkeling at Buck Island. Plenty of cold drinks and good food (adults and kids). It's highly recommended if in Christiansted, St. Croix.

Yelp
Service to black ppl is horrible !!!! I seen them serve several white people that arrived after us! Also noticed the rudeness from the staff that are locals from us black ppl to the white people ! I wouldn't come back here ! Wait times are horrible for food stay away from here!!!!not once did they ask us is the wait time going to be okay but I heard them ask every white customer! Racism from your own is the worse!!!! I ended up going to TLC Cafe by the pink building still at the boardwalk!
google avatar

Yelp
This is a resounding Little John "Yeah". So this place has great and friendly service and it is what it is. A small, very good breakfast place that serves it up with a great choice of sandwiches, arepas, good old fashion breakfast and Island style favourites. I loved the run cake French toast, and I recommend it as is without the syrup. Hash brown caserole is another really nice treat. They have a rather large selection of alcoholic fun-fun drinks. Seating is limited both inside and out, so expect to do a line. My advice: show up as early as possible. The 40 sauce is great. I went twice while I was there and would go every morning if I would have stayed longer.
google avatar

Yelp
Used to be GREAT! Amazing breakfasts,Bloody Mary's PB and jealous Sammy was so great. Customer service is so bad that I don't recommend it to my guests anymore. I clocked 40 mins before two tables even got their menus outside. Abhorrent

Yelp
Tried Toast Diner today and enjoyed the food very much. Just a warning, it is a small venue; with small tables, limited bar area and limited outside dining. We went during an off time and had no problem getting a table inside, but on a crowded/busy day...well, that wouldn't have happened. This is a restaurant best for a smaller group. We had three people and that was about as many as they could fit at any seating area. The food was definitely delicious and not our normal breakfast. The hash brown casserole was delicious, but most definitely, take advantage of the additional toppings to make the flavor pop! We added tomatoes, onions and cheese to the hash browns...it was a nice touch. We had the Cuban bun, peanut butter and jealous pork sandwich and traditional Venezuelan breakfast. All was tasty, and the hash browns were a good table share for the three of us. Service was good, drink selection was good and food was good. It is in a tourist area, so the prices are a little high. The location is easy to find off of a side street. Drawbacks were the table size, small dining area and prices a bit more than one would expect on the traditional Venezuelan breakfast and hash browns for what we got.
google avatar

Kit J.

Yelp
Fresh ingredients! I ate most of it because it was so good I almost forgot to take a pic. I had the cubano Arapa yesterday and it is authentic!! The bloody mary is in a carafe and could be a meal on its own. :-)
google avatar

Clay P.

Yelp
Horrible service. Walked in and was ignored. In fact a group came in after us and they got served. We just walked out.

Ilsa K.

Yelp
Awesome local place with amazing food and chill ambiance. Arepas, fresh tropical juices, hash brown casserole, it's all so good. Tiny place so sometimes there's a wait--but totally worth it.
google avatar

Ash N.

Yelp
Quite the hidden jewel in STX. Arepas are to die for. Outside street seating gives this place its unique ambiance.
google avatar

Glenn B.

Yelp
Anywhere where they play 90's R&B as a staple station is cool with me. We had to stop here 2 mornings in a row and it was great both times. It's a small place and in a touristy spot but it's good home cooked meals! They had an SOS plate for crying out loud! How homestyle can that be!
google avatar

Dana N.

Yelp
I had the Cruzan Breakfast. It was simply amazing! Staff was beyond friendly, and while there was a bit of a wait, it was completely worth it. Would totally come back.
google avatar

Knina S.

Yelp
While the food was great, the energy was off. My anxiety level shot up...btwn the chef and the owners (Meghan) conversation out loud....killed my whole vibe. She was dissatisfied with her other employee (speaking very condescending-isk + yelling).... The chef was talking crap about current events while on break at the counter so it was heard thru out the establishment (3 tables max). I started having indigestion.....I was ready to go at that point. Ummmm all I can say is be mindful of your patrons who are there for an "experience" and the good food. Foodies like myself will enjoy the food minus the unecessary candor.

Yelp
Order: Tamarind juice, Palatino Arepa, Peanut Putter and Jealous (pork, peanut butter and jelly) Price: $23 Positives: The flavor of the food was fantastic, the staff was super friendly, the price really wasn't very high for what you were getting. Negatives: They run out of stuff early (rum cake french toast, boooooo), they are very busy and wait times could get crazy tldr: Toast was one of our favorite restaurants on the island. While it's one of the busier places we went it's well worth your time to figure out a way to get in. You won't regret it. Also get the rum cake french toast Toast had been high on our list of places to visit before we ever arrived in Saint Croix. It got fantastic reviews, it had pictures of delicious looking food, and it served rum cake french toast. Who doesn't want to eat at a place that serves rum cake french toast?!?! Unfortunately during our first visit they had already run out of it. So our first lesson was to get there early, which we did the second time we went back. And spoilers, the rum cake french toast is freaking amazing. Toast is this small restaurant tucked away off one of the main streets in Christiansted. Despite being a little off the path it was packed every single time we went. And if you've never been before, the crowded interior and potential line out the door, may turn you away from eating there. DON'T LEAVE, it is absolutely worth the wait, and it probably won't be as long as you think. Toast was definitely one of the top three places we ate while we were in St. Croix. While Toast is predominantly a breakfast spot that's not the only thing they do. While they have a lot of amazing breakfast items they also had a wide selection of arepas and sandwiches. In our case we got a sandwich with pulled pork, peanut butter, and jelly....and damn, it was phenomenal. Toast seems to put its "spin" on a lot of its dishes too. Things that are fairly simply with one little change that makes it pop. The quality of their ingredients stands out too. Everything we had (both times we went) were on point! Every time we walked out the door we were talking about how good it was. Toast does run out of things, just like everyone on the island, and they are super busy but it is absolutely worth your time to make at least one trip here while you're in St. Croix. You will get an absolutely delicious meal at a reasonable price and you will most certainly discuss coming back if you have time. Oh and if they haven't sold out you owe it to yourself to at least try the rum cake french toast.

Yelp
I would put 0 stars if I could. This Diner was the worst place to go to. My son, wife and I were following the star places to eat. First the attitude was the worst ever. Three servers no direction as to what to do as far as seating so we waited. None of them even spoke to us until my son opened the door to read the door maybe we missed something meanwhile the server was steering with the meanest face I ever seen especially in a tourist district downtown. With the same mean attitude and voice he was told to close the door. Then while standing and waiting to be seated there was an empty table outside a gentleman came and sat down at that table and it wasn't too long he was given a menu and at the same time two ladies were sitting across from him where leaving and asked to be changed to that table. As the table he left was vacant none of the servers offered us to sit. I waited a bit more and asked if we could sit there no response so we sat. The two servers pasted and ignored us till I said now that we are seated can we please get the menu and again ignored. After another 15 minutes or so we were handed the menu in the most rude way and still no response or even asked if we would like something to drink. If the food is good enough to get a five star that would not be accurate of the care to the customer. We left that place and went to Shupes on the boardwalk. Shupes on the boardwalk was the best and the service out of this world definitely a five star over Toast diner! So don't waste your money in this place just next door to this place you can find a much better environment and attitude for your money. Zero stars for Toast Diner.

Yelp
We came for breakfast two days in a row because it was good food, priced okay, convenient location and good service! Low season so we didn't have to wait long but it was open for breakfast on a Monday, which was a plus. (It's actually open everyday of the week) It is small so probably a wait during high season. Clean Bathroom and WiFi Inside small cozy dining area, bar seating and the outside seating. Definitely a good reliable and yummy option in the area. Bloody Mary's and mimosas and all kinds of drinks including iced Vietnamese coffee, perfect for the hot days. First breakfast, we were going on the boat tour to Buck Island afterwards, so both chose some milder options with the special omelet and the "gringo" arepa and hash brown casserole. The Arepa was crispy, hash browns cheesy and all the food was filling and yummy, but not too decadent or greasy that we would be okay for a boat ride and swimming afterwards. Second breakfast, we returned for more decadent and filling breakfasts: I had the Venezuelan breakfast ($17) with flat iron steak, 2 fried eggs, seared Queso fresco, coconut black beans, fried plantains and arepa. Hubby had the coconut rum cake ($10) and added eggs and bacon - ohhhh man delicious way to start the day! Iced Viet coffee $4 Arepas $6-9$

Yelp
We were super hungry after diving and this place is right on the Boardwalk. It's open for breakfast & lunch only, and is run by the same people as 40 strand (which we loved), so we were excited to try it! Def recommend trying their arepas and hash browns. Overall, great spot for brunch with a large variety of options! Arepas: We had the chicken, shrimp, and plantains - the plantains were surprisingly our favorite! They were all good but I loved the mix of honey with plantains, avocado, and sunflower shoots. Arepas are pretty hot and crispy, not too oily. Hash Browns: We just added eggs to ours but there's lots of topping options. The hash browns were crispy and it's def a hearty breakfast dish, but pretty oily.

Yelp
Very yummy! We ate arepas for brunch! Delicious! The place is small but we got there a little late and there was no wait at all.

Yelp
Toast was conveniently located within walking distance of my hotel. It's tiny, but has a big personality. I give the food choices a five, wish they weren't out of salt fish every time I wanted it. I would definitely visit again.
google avatar

Lauren M.

Yelp
I ordered the basic breakfast. The food was appetizing. Nothing to write home to mom about but way more enjoyable than the food I had last night. The guava juice was extremely good though.

Yelp
I spent about three months on St. Croix, working with the hurricane relief efforts and found Toast a "relief" from the too-standard food found in many locations. Especially breakfast! I'm a breakfast snob (and pretty decent cook) so I can't understand why so few places do it well. Toast is one that does! From the modest hashbrown casseroles to the more exotic Crucian breakfast (which I had one morning), it's always good. As is the coffee. The fellow next to me -- one of the tourists who are beginning to return to the island -- commented on how good the coffee is. If you're not working (or going scuba diving, like my new friend), Toast has a great selection of Bloody Marys to accompany your solid food. It's a little small but it's worth enduring a modest wait. Highly recommended!

Jennifer B.

Yelp
Local charm, definitely a gem! Super busy but efficient and delicious vegetarian options! The hash browns were perfectly seasoned with the right amount of crispy edges. Delicious arepas and flavorful pepper sauce.

Yelp
Toast is a small, quaint diner tucked away on a St. Croix side street. We came one day for breakfast, saw how crowded it was and were about to leave, but then it occurred to me that all those people were there for a reason, so we stayed. I'm really glad we did! We were seated at a small table after a wait of only a few minutes. The venue is really small, with only around half a dozen tables. Service was welcoming, fast, and friendly, and they do a lot more take-out business than anything else. Tip: Seating is fairly limited; there are maybe 4 tables for two inside, as well as 1 tables for 4 outside and one inside; there's also bar seating inside for around half a dozen people. We sat and enjoyed our breakfast for 45 minutes - everything was good. The omelet was tasty and the pancakes were light, fluffy, and served with strawberries. The best dish by far was their hashbrown casserole. It's made with veggie pieces and cheese mixed in, and the taste is to die for! They also serve some really strong mimosas; you can choose from several different chooses. The prices are very reasonable, and the overall value proposition is outstanding.

Scot K.

Yelp
Don't eat breakfast anywhere else. Food and service were awesome! Will definitely come back next trip!

Yelp
This spot has breakfast and brunch. The food is great, from arepas to local food to hash brown caserole, and the tables outside are very enjoyable. The bloody mary is great and you can chose to add to it shrimp, olives or anything else the menu has.

Bob A.

Yelp
Great breakfast but really busy and small. Be prepared to wait. .

Yelp
We had breakfast here and it was excellent. The menu has something for everyone, the staff are super friendly and efficient, the cooks are top notch. Indoor and outdoor seating and a great vibe. Highly recommend.
