Google
Toast + Tonic will inspire you. The food is uncanny. We went here twice in two days because we couldn’t resist the cravings. The menu is stacked with amazing meals, side dishes, drinks, and teas. Every option is a great option. The food is absolutely delicious. Breakfast, lunch, or dinner are all so, so good. The portions are perfect. The flavors are perfect. The staff is really nice. Very attentive and courteous. We were there when it was packed and when there was an extra-large group (12+ diners). The entire restaurant was served well, served quickly, and served correctly. There is some outdoor seating available as well. The inside gives off a mix of rustic and modern vibes. The colors and décor compliment the food and vibe perfectly. There is a small counter with baked goods and other items for sale. Toast + Tonic is worth a trip by itself. And if you happen to be spending a day at the Olde Mystick Village shops area, make sure this restaurant is on your list of stops.

Great Vibes and Tasty Food! We really enjoyed our visit to Toast and Tonic. There was a bit of a wait when we arrived, but we were seated quickly. The decor is fantastic – plants everywhere, on the walls and all the tables, creating a really fresh and vibrant atmosphere. They also have some lovely outdoor seating. We had the avocado toast and the bean burger, both of which were delicious. While we loved the burger, it could have used a sauce or some sort of spear to add a bit more moisture. We also particularly enjoyed the roasted sweet potatoes – they were excellent! The menu is nicely put together, and while we'd appreciate seeing a few new vegan additions, overall, it's a great spot. We'll definitely be back!

Google
We stopped here for breakfast around 9. It opens earlier than the shops around it and has a nice selection of breakfast items. Restaurant was very clean and bright. We were first to arrive but it gradually fills as you get closer to the rest of the shops opening. Staff was friendly and checked on us regularly. Food was very good and I would say the quality is more towards the higher end than what you might find at a diner. I had the crab omelet and it was good but not quite as good as Kitchen Little but the meal as a whole was elevated by believe it or not the potatoes. They were dry well seasoned and just a nice savoury taste to go with the omelette. Now my son (early 20’s)had the corned beef benny and he preferred this version over Kitchen Little. Specifically the way it was prepared and how the egg and hash were cooked. If you plan on visiting the village go early and have breakfast. You will not be disappointed plus you get really great parking spots before everyone shows up.

Google
This place is so good for brunch, or any food before 3pm! I got a toasted cheese with tomato dipping side both were amazing! You could easily eat just the sauce alone that’s how good it is. They have sweet and savory treats to go as well if you don’t have time to sit. If you do sit the servers were so nice and had great suggestions. Will be back!

Google
such a cute little brunch spot! the food & coffee were amazing, the bakery looked super delicious & the service was top tier. the hostess, jenna, was SO sweet and attentive. the aesthetic of the restaurant was well put together & very clean. not to mention, they have plants everywhere that come from the plant store right next store (also super cute would recommend checking out!). if you’re looking for a new breakfast/lunch spot, check them out!🫶🏻

Wife and I showed up little after 7am on a cold Sunday morning. We had the dining room to ourselves the whole meal. I had the pumpkin crepes and a dirty Chai and my wife had the lobster Benedict. Kutchen was able to handle a strawberry and garlic allergy accommodation and brought my wife a bowl of rest fruit to replace the potatoes which have garlic. Food was very good quality and the dirty Chai was tasty. Nice atmosphere, very laid back and the living wall plant arrangements were a nice touch.

Google
I love this cute brunch spot! The food is fun, the drinks are delicious & the vibe is always amazing. I love that it’s not only locally owned, but also women owned. If you’re looking for a fun breakfast spot with shops in walking distance, this is the place to go!

Google
Amazing meal with an amazing waitress. Loved the environment. Food was delicious, waitress was on point. Food came out a bit slow but we did get there at open. Seemed our waitress was the only one working when we arrived, shortly more crew arrived. Experience was great. Will most certainly visit again.

Yelp
Came by for brunch with a few friends. We needed a bit of relaxation while catching up. We decided to sit outside. The tables were dusty and understandably since the parking lot is right there. I asked the waiter to please wipe table or allow me to do it, and she did immediately. We ordered freshly squeezed juices. Loved the carrot ginger juice. We had coffee and lots of yummy food.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious. I highly recommend making an advance reservation if you are going to be in town. It wasn't crowded when we got there at 10:30, but it quickly filled up. I loved my oatmeal cookie latte with oat milk, and my pumpkin French toast. I would have gone back the next day for something more savory but when I woke up they were already booked out. Also, this place is adorable.

Yelp
The perfect brunch place after a run on a Sunday around 10. We had to wait about 15-20 minutes but it went by pretty quickly. The inside is cute and has a nice atmosphere. The menu has a variety of brunch items and they all sounds so good. They also have a case of pastries and desserts when you walk in that all look delicious. Our server was prompt and very friendly. I ordered the chicken sammy and loved it!The apples and fig jam worked very well with the arugula on the baguette. I thought it was a fair price of $16.25 and left very full. I would definitely recommend this place to other people!

Allison K.

Yelp
Super cool atmosphere with a bake shop up front and restaurant in the bigger portion. We tried the sweet potato bowl and the sweet potato toast. Everything was delightful. Service was a tiny bit slow but we didn't mind.

Yelp
Cute place. Food was very good, they had bakery options as well that I didn't try. Coffee was good and staff was very nice. I'd definitely go back! No complaints

Yelp
My sister and I came by Toast + Tonic this past Saturday morning for brunch around 11:30. When you enter there's a small bakery section to the right, so I knew I'd be getting some pastries before I left. There was no wait so the host sat us right away. The place is pretty small but super pretty, great setting for brunch with friends, and it seems like they have outdoor seating in the warmer months. What threw me off was how long we sat without anyone coming to our table. Someone dropped waters off after 15 minutes and said nothing. Our waitress came over after 20 minutes, apologized for the wait. I had seen her running around with other tables so I feel like they were just understaffed or in a rush but there were only ~8 tables so it surprised me. We both ordered the brioche french toast, and got the bacon and roasted potatoes to share. We'd told the waitress we needed to leave by 12:30 (sis had work) and by then it was already noon. She said she'd ask the kitchen to rush it, which we really appreciated, but rushed it was Our bacon and potatoes were delicious luckily, but my sister's french toast was so undercooked, the center was still wet and eggy. Mine was cooked but tasted strongly of pumpkin? They were kind enough to comp her french toast, but it was a little disappointing. I still wanted to take pastries for the road, so we got a red velvet cupcake, a raspberry swirl cupcake, and a lemon bar. The lemon bar was delicious, I would definitely recommend. The cupcakes, however, were mid at best. Neither my sister nor I liked the raspberry swirl (tastes artificial), and the red velvet was pretty flavorless. We will not be returning :(

Yelp
We had breakfast at Toast + Tonic last weekend when we were in Mystic and had a nice time! Their menu is really broad (egg dishes, sweet breakfast options, bowls, toasts, breakfast sandwiches) - something for everyone. I'm in love with their deviled egg of the week concept - I love a deviled egg, and the deviled egg of the week when we visited was delicious! It's a charming spot, with a great breakfast menu. I'd be happy to return!

Yelp
"You know it's good when you are reaching for your next bite while you're still chewing your last!" We didn't have super high expectations but this place was incredible! Service, food, and atmosphere 10/10. Good portions, incredible fresh taste, and overall great experience. We can't decide if the Bleu sandwich(think bleu cheese BLT) or the Chicken Sammy(grilled chix/fresh apples/fig jam-YUM) was more delicious.

Yelp
What a cute place!! I'm sure it's jam packed in the summer time but it was just pleasantly busy this last weekend. The owner came over and served us herself and was super nice. She shared how she made the plant display on the wall which was just charming. The food was tasty. Between the four of us we had the classic Benny, frittata, French toast, toast w/feta and tomato and cucumber - sides were roasted potatoes (regular and sweet), sausage, chicken sausage, and the highlight of the meal in my opinion, the deviled egg of the week with dill and cucumber. Everything was really good with a very creative menu and some delicious looking pastries to go. Definitely a place to stop while in Mystic for some breakfast!

Meagan W.

Yelp
We went here after walking around mystic village and it is a cute restaurant, but the service was average at best. We were told it would be a 20-25 minute wait but it was definitely closer to 40 minutes. Service once we actually sat down wasn't great either, our water cups sat empty for over half the meal and we had to wait awhile for the waiter to bring us the bill. Food was average, especially the french toast. The food was definitely not good enough to make up for the poor service. Overall not a horrible experience but we won't be rushing to come back anytime soon.

Yelp
Beautiful place to eat with the kids. Ordered pancakes (kids), English muffins pizza (kid, chicken sandwich, lobster Benedict, cappuccinos, and a ginger shot. The pancakes and cappuccinos were spot on (didn't need sugar for the coffee). The benedict could've used a bit more lobster according to my hubs. My chicken sandwich was amazing and fries cooked perfectly. Loved the ginger shot! Our waitress was very kind and lovely. I do feel bad she had a needy customer (talking with everyone and staff for hours), but she handled it beautifully (you truly never know what someone may be going through so its better to be kind). We will be back!

Yelp
I ordered the pancakes (with cinnamon) and not only were they delicious, but they came quickly! Service was nice and fast. My friend got the caramel cookie butter latte and loved it. They have some outdoor seating for to-go orders, but there's a good amount of indoor seating as well. They also have a little baked goods section!

Yelp
5/21/24: 1st Visit Place has a very homey atmosphere inside and out. We ordered the French Toast and Chicken Sammy. Both items were delicious. The Chicken Sammy had apples, brie and fig jam. So delish. Service was okay on that visit. 8/2/24: 2nd Lunch Visit We ordered the French Toast and Watermelon and Feta Salad with Grilled chicken. Our server this time was Anna. She was an absolute delight! Parking is available in the Olde Mystik Village Parking lot. Toast and Tonic is definitely a keeper!

Yelp
I have celiac and was looking for a place to grab a quick bite for lunch on my way in to volunteer at the Aquarium. I grabbed the frittata of the day which came with potatoes. It was fresh and delicious. More food than I could eat, so I was able to enjoy it for breakfast again the next morning. I can't wait to try more and eat at the restaurant.
google avatar

Yelp
If you're looking for a lighter breakfast with a lot of different options - toast +tonic is a great place to stop. Most of the breakfast options in the area are very heavy and hearty- the kind that sticks in your gut and makes you want to take a nap. If you want to continue on about your day and have a good meal, then I recommend starting your day here.
google avatar

Yelp
Super cute inside. Waitress was in the weeds-only one on for an 11 seat restaurant with takeout bakery service and 2 of those tables being 10 seat communal. She stayed pleasant however, and was definitely working hard! I kept it simple and ordered a turkey sausage, egg and cheese sandwich. I couldn't get through it-it tasted weird. I don't know if it was the cheese or a spice in the turkey sausage but I decided just to eat my potatoes and pick a part the English muffin. Bakery items looked good. Outdoor seating available on their porch.

Dawn C.

Yelp
Been a couple of years but just as yummy! Place is super cute and clean. Staff is friendly. Indoor and outdoor seating.

Yelp
Stopped in on a Sunday morning for breakfast after staying in Mystic overnight for a company Christmas party. Always love trying new spots! Our waitress was a doll and helped to make the experience better by just being herself - silly, funny and really helpful. There were quite a few tasty options and I couldn't make up my mind so I ordered 2 things. First - a piece of ricotta toast blended with basil topped with brûléed orange slices. The presentation was beautiful and so was the toast! I LOVE corned beef. I get it at every breakfast place I go - if it's homemade - even better!!! With that being said - the corned beef bene fell flat for me. The corned beef fritter lacked flavor and seasoning. Honestly - all I could taste was the thick (too thick) crispy outside. It took away from the filling. I asked for salt and pepper which made it minutely better. The potatoes they are served with, however, were delicious! The menu looked so tasty and I'd definitely go back. It was decorated for Christmas and looked lovely - such a bright open space with nice high ceilings.

Yelp
Plenty of parking but in front of the restaurant may be packed. We came roughly around 1130 on a holiday weekday. The wait for our party of 3 was 30 minutes. The waitress and hostess were friendly. I would recommend calling ahead or to make sure you get there to be placed on the wait list. Thankfully, with all the stores in the village, you can keep yourselves preoccupied during the wait. The food, in my opinion, wasn't worth the wait or the price. We ordered the pumpkin pancakes, crab omelet, and corned beef benny. The pancakes were bland. I definitely recommend using the syrup and the butter. The crab omlet needed more flavoring. It was just a basic omlet with crab and vegetables. The corned beef benny looked delicious. I was slightly disappointed to taste either mustard or a bit of sourness to it. The red potatoes were well seasoned. The toast was delicious. For drinks, we ordered the chai, caramel apple pie, Irish coffee, and green apple. The drinks were worth it. I especially loved the green apple freshly pressed juice. They do have happy hour available and will come back to see how their happy hour menu is since it's not available during their regular hours.

Donovan C.

Yelp
Unimpressed. Slow service. Usually I give them the benefit of the doubt, but nobody else was there to attend to. The food was hit or miss. The ricotta toast was ok, but the lux toast had terrible grainy cream cheese that ruined the whole dish. The vanilla cupcake was pretty good, I bet the bakery is why they are open. Ambiance was horribly lifeless. Not returning.

Yelp
Another perfect Eggs Benedict! This restaurant is such a wonderful place where, midweek, you can enjoy reading a book or on a weekend, or anytime for that matter, have a great meal, or bring new friends for breakfast or brunch or meeting old friends and having some great conversation. It's a very simple, warm and welcoming place! Kudos!

Yelp
Great service, breakfast choice are good, and the pancakes and egg Benedict were great. Lovely interior.
google avatar

L R.

Yelp
Very prompt and friendly service and the atmosphere was bright and clean. Good, strong coffee and the cream served at the table fresh. A major bonus, because many places give you those creamers in the small containers at room temperature. The sweet potato toast was a unique, flavorful breakfast that had a balance of sweet, salty, and creamy. We come to visit this area each year and will return for breakfast again.

Peggy C.

Yelp
Great food, very creative menu. Excellent service and atmosphere. Good location. You don't have to navigate through the mall.

Yelp
Used this great restaurant for two of our wedding meetings (one is with the bakery inside called Never Enough Bake Shop). The place was appropriate for meeting people and having conversations beacause the volume of the music playing was just right. Ordered a simple yogurt bowl with an iced americano and cappuccino and it was very tasteful. Aimee was an amazing baker and server at the same time. Well recommended for breakfast and brunch! Will come back again.

Yelp
Drove down to Mystic CT to meet up with two friends and we went to lunch here, our second time. It's a casual, open restaurant, family friendly. We had reservations so there was no wait for a table on this MLK holiday. Delicious food! I'm hooked on their grilled cheese sandwiches and had one with a small cup of tomato soup and fries. The grilled cheese was garlicky and oozing with cheese. I wasn't wild about the tomato soup because it was chunky and I like mine smooth (Campbell's cream of tomato style) and it wasn't as flavorful as I would have liked. But who am I kidding, I was there for the grilled cheese. So plentiful I took half the sandwich home and reheated it later that evening, to great success (thank you Ms. Google for showing me how to reheat a grilled cheese sandwich, stove top in a skillet. But I digress.) My companions had the "med bowl" that had chicken, mixed greens, hummus, tsatziki, tabbouleh and other good stuff, which they mostly liked although found the hummus wanting. There were many yummy items on the menu and maybe one day I will be persuaded to try them, like the many variations of eggs benedict. The service was good--the food came right away and the server gave us plenty of time to eat and socialize. All in all a good time was had by all, and I've no doubt we will return!

Yelp
Corned beef hash Benedict on a weekday! Fresh decor and open seating enhanced my solo weekday brunch. Tender, gently seasoned shredded beef and tiny diced potatoes arrived formed it to patries that were dredged in bread crumbs and deep-fried to a perfect golden brown, then topped with perfectly-poached eggs and Hollandaise. Served with a choice of fried potatoes or a side salad, the delectable, protein-packed meal was deeply-satisfying. I enjoyed a non- alcohol drink of apple cider, caramel, cinnamon, and seltzer as a fall treat but adult beverages were also available. Great service too.

Yelp
Amazingly welcoming staff Beautiful small quaint hidden gem right off the highway Gluten free Full fat Amazing ambiance and clean spot to grab take away or sit

Edmary S.

Yelp
Food was very good. I had the sweet potato bowl and it was tasty. I definitely recommend the lattes. They have a great menu and are willing to make you something else. Kid friendly for sure! They open very early which is convenient especially with toddlers. Staff is accommodating and very nice. Beautiful restaurant.

Kristin A.

Yelp
Great service, delicious food! We had the crab omelette and the chicken sammy. Large portions (as you can see in the photos). Friendly atmosphere. Highly recommend!

Lauren M.

Yelp
Everything was delicious - I have no complaints whatsoever on our food (two children's options and two adult). The ricotta bread was so good! The staff were friendly and acknowledged us right away as they were clearing many tables. Happy to come back here again. It's cute and welcoming!

Alex H.

Yelp
Food and coffee was delicious. The waitress was super nice. However there was one woman who potentially was the manager or from the back of the house and she actually yelled at our table and shocked all 12 of us when delivering our food. It was very rude.

Jenna M.

Yelp
The place was cute but the food tasted like it was made days ago and reheated. Even the omelette was rubbery. Not worth the wait.

Tabitha H.

Yelp
I attended a $70 terrarium making event, with the promise of hanging out with my friends and having a few drinks. The terrariums provided and the drinks were great, as was the staff. The thing is, the whole thing was done in less than an hour and did not feel relaxed. It felt like I bought a terrarium and had to make it myself. Not cool. These people have got to learn to chill out and allow folks to enjoy themselves. Play music, something.

Kendall J.

Yelp
I was traveling from Tennessee and happened upon this little brunch spot. Arguably the best avocado toast I've ever had! Delicious mimosa as well, but wait until 10 because they don't start serving them until then :) Cute atmosphere in olde mystic village. DiAnn was the sweetest waitress as well! If I ever find myself in Mystic again, I will be sure to stop here again!

Ryan K.

Yelp
Went 7/13/24 for brunch. Food was very fresh and tasty . The ice chai and coffee were good as well. Had a Scone and the Black Bean Burger. Service was good as well for it being a rainy Saturday. Ambience is good for families and larger groups.

Gerald G.

Yelp
Changed so much since it was the blue squid prices up portions way down. Had the adult grilled cheese it was thin. Wife and I always made a special trip to mystic and would come here just for that but no more
google avatar

Kenneth R.

Yelp
Service was absolutely horrendous for an empty restaurant, food was cold. Hostess was rude just like when she worked under the Bleu Squid ownership.

Bu L.

Yelp
Was put on a waitlist and told that it'll be 30 minutes (there were plenty of tables outside) . Was never called for our table even though we were in their digital waitlist. I went back to check up on our table. They said to come back after they clean a table. They still never contacted me to return. When I came back (I ended up just grabbing something else to eat after waiting 1.5 hours) the restaurant had already closed. No follow up at all. Terrible customer service. Is it because we were the only people of color in the entire restaurant? Hmm.

Meaghan G.

Yelp
food was delicious and service was excellent! such an excellent vibe, cozy environment with high quality food

Michelle T.

Yelp
I work nearby so I've gotten takeout here a couple of times and it has been really meh. Especially considering the prices. The sandwich I had a while back was just tiny. Today I got a sweet potato bowl with a brown hunk of avocado and rubbery eggs. Maybe breakfast is better, and maybe in person is better, or maybe this place is really just about cocktails. But if I'm paying $15 or more for lunch, it better at least be good. Miss the Bleu Squid.

Jackie C.

Yelp
We stopped in here like many others who are visiting the Mystic area and were very pleasantly surprised. Our waitress was beyond friendly and very accommodating. The space is very cute and clean and the food was fast and delicious. It is a bit pricey for breakfast but we thought it was delicious. My kids got the eggs + toast and a side of bacon which came with fresh fruit and I enjoyed the shakshuka which was a delicious and filling combo. We would return if in the area again.

Jazzie J S.

Yelp
So good, good food the service was amazing the ambiance was amazing love the peaches toast

M M.

Yelp
Yum. Breakfast Sammy with potatoes and ricotta pancakes were delicious. We loved it. Came back the next day and got the same thing.

Roberta T.

Yelp
Amazing restaurant. The owner has created such a perfect combination of creative food without being pretentious or overpriced. As another reviewer said, we almost didn't go in because we were expecting The Bleu Squid restaurant. Found out it is the same owner, just rebranded. Everything was delicious, we had the ricotta pancakes and eggs benny. Yum. Can't wait to go back and try some other things. Even the lemonade was obviously fresh made. You can tell there are quality ingredients. The service was great- friendly and efficient. Will definitely return there (and there is outdoor seating, maybe bring the dogs next time). Excellent place!

Yelp
Had the best lunch today at Toast and Tonic. The food was hot and fresh. Had the smash burger with fries and it was delicious!! The friendly staff greeted me at the door. My waitress Sarah did an amazing job and took care of my every need. Also had a yummy iced latte. I'll definitely be coming back.

TechieQueen H.

Yelp
I don't know how the food was because we waited almost a hour for a table for 2 in a empty restaurant . Finally decided to just leave and went down the street to Popovers were we got a table immediately!

Elaine J.

Yelp
My mom ordered a cheese omelet and was given a crab omelet. She is allergic to seafood. Thankfully she had only taken a small bite that did not contain crab. They replaced it with a cheese omelet that was very overdone... the outside was brown! My dish had avocado that was mushy and tan. The bathroom was out of TP. The concept is great, but the attention to detail is severely lacking. Hope it improves!!

Ray F.

Yelp
Came with a family of 6 and were told by the host it would just be a few minutes while they cleaned off a table. A family of 6 or 8 had just left. Immediately after telling us it would just be a few minutes, one lady looked at us, whispered something to the host and then the host turns to us that it was going to take 30 minutes and we had to be on a waitlist, so we did. Wait a few minutes and larger parties come and get seated before us. Left and walked around a bit and came back since we didn't a call within the 30 minutes. Empty tables. Larger parties get seated while we're on a "wait list". I go in and ask and they say they're still cleaning tables. We go eat elsewhere because our kids are getting hungry. As we leave later in the day, the restaurant is closed and NEVER called or texted. I don't care that I never got to eat there, but I do wish they were open for me talk to the manager. I don't play the race card, but there was a noticeable difference with who was eating there. Sorry to have to say it, but not really, avoid if you have large groups or color.
