If you're craving grilled cheese toast, this is your go-to place, but I do however find it overrated. My experience at Toasteria went across the whole emotional range of feelings, from one end of the spectrum, to the other.
Lets start with what I liked absolutely the best: THE FRIES. I mean, so good...and probably the best fries I have had in my lifetime so far. With a thin crunchy crust, perfectly fried and seasoned, they were good even cold and never went soggy. These are worth coming back for!
Our toasts were fine, but just fine. Alright flavor, but the fried chicken inside my Chicken Parmesan tasted cheap, and there was very little sign of the promised parmesan or basil. Little did it taste of garlic, either. I was not impressed by this. Perhaps I should come back and try some of the classics..?
We ordered frozen Margharitas to go with, please do not make the same mistake as us. These are possibly the worst margharitas I have tried in my life (if you're a fan of drinking tequila straight, this is up your alley though). We had to order sodas on the side to make them drinkable.
The upstairs seating layout could be so much better, and several of the tables were so close together than you could hear the person next to you breath. If you have someone blowing their nose every 3.5 seconds on your L/H side, that will definitely help you lose your appetite.
I personally value good service just as much as I value good food, which is why my review comes down from a 3 to a 2 (but with the possibility of change if we come back for the fries sometime). They should all take customer satisfaction classes ASAP, and if not find a "Smiling for Dummies"-book at the nearest book store. We were greated by a lovely guy that showed us our table upstairs, but that friendliness didn't last long. Upon leaving the restaurant we had left our bill on the table with the cash inside (we should perhaps have taken it downstairs?). As we were leaving we were grabbed by another girl who accused us of not leaving all the money, the bill was 1212 NTD, but they only found 1210 NTD. We had left them 1220, but somehow the last coin disappeared. Now excuse me, how cheap do you think we are? Had this been handled nicely, no problem, but in my opinion this was uncomfortable and quite unprofessional. I left them 50 NTD extra, and left.
