We loved everything about our stay. The staff, without exception, were friendly and helpful and very accommodating. The facilities were excellent. Very well maintained, with a relaxed atmosphere. We loved our room that opened right out to the ocean. Our snorkeling excursion was very enjoyable and beautiful. The meals were some of the best I have had in Fiji, and we have lived here for six months now.

Toberua Island Resort is nothing short of amazing. Yes, it’s in beautiful Fiji, a short boat ride from Suva. Yes, it’s secluded, with only 16 bures. Yes, there’s snorkelling, kayaking and SUP included. Yes, there’s daily island activities included. Yes, you can swim, SUP and kayak around the island. Yes, there’s additional tours available to purchase each day. Yes, there’s full or half-day board. But what makes Toberua so truely special is the people. From a welcome song on arrival, to a goodbye song upon departure, we were made to feel like returning friends on our first visit. We were welcome to join in singing and dancing, and the cat-dog song, well, you really need to be there. I hope to return soon.

Incredible small resort, with the friendliest staff, amazing food, and beautiful setting. Truly a slice of paradise. We had 3 members of the family who are gluten free, and all had a fantastic experience. The chef worked to make everything gluten free and there was only one brownie dessert which wasn’t, but every other item on the menu they made. We have one child who is especially sensitive and he had zero issues the 6 days we were there.

A hidden gem and marvellous discovery. We stayed 2 nights in an oceanfront bure - very spacious and comfortable, even without air conditioning! The resort is the only thing in the island but there were organized activities, water sports and a spa if relaxing by the ocean wasn't enough to keep us busy. Management and staff were fantastic - very attentive and friendly. We had the half-board meals (2 per day) and there was enough choice to satisfy various diets. We really enjoyed the sustainable aspects of the resort including the solar power. Regular wifi was quite good but cell reception lacked a bit. Transfers to-from Suva were well organized. Would definitely come back!

What an excellent resort. Great place, excellent staff, a wonderful manager Pip who goes above & beyond to give guests a great stay. Good variety of excursions. Food was excellent. Local band playing every night during dinner. Highly recommended.

As a family with a 7 and 9 year old we loved this little island. The best part was that the kids could run around the island safely with complete freedom. A highlight were the rooms that all face the ocean and have a beautiful open feel with great views - way better that the standard big resort room. Other positives include the friendly management and staff, well priced daily activities that were fantastic (snorkelling, island trip, kayaking, fishing). ||It loses a star for the food which was hit and miss with quite a few communication issues with the kitchen, and it needs a bit of investment to freshen up a few things (gym, pool table). ||We are converts to a small island resort over the big ones so would return.

We just got back from hosting our Fiji Yoga & Pilates retreat at Toberua private island resort, and if we could give it 10 stars we would! The location, staff, food, and the (optional) excursions they offer were all fabulous. Some of us stayed in their 3 bedroom villa which we also used as our Yoga & Pilates space, whilst some of our other guests stayed in their Deluxe Bures. The resort - although intimate - offers plenty of space to relax with lovely hammocks, a pool, water sports such as SUP's & kayaks, and it has beautiful views, even when the tide is low. Any requests were quickly sorted, and we all left the island with the biggest smiles and the best memories. As we are all about balance, the international wines were also a welcome addition to the fab meals. We danced, we laughed, we moved and we rested. Thank you to Pip and the whole crew, we'll be back for sure!

Toberua is a hidden gem. We just returned from spending 8 days on this island paradise in the low season (February/March) when it is a bit warmer and wetter. We were consistently blown away by the exceptional standards and hospitality of the entire staff, and would highly recommend this to travellers interested in a secluded island getaway. The manager was there to greet us on arrival, welcome drinks in hand. By the end of the first day everyone knew and greeted us by name. The premium Bure (No. 2) was positioned perfectly right on the beach, complete with hammock and loungers. We were initially worried about the lack of air conditioning but the nights were breezy and the ceiling fan kept us reasonably cool. Evening temperatures were about 24-25C. Being away from the mainland there are very few bugs and I never needed the bug spray I had packed. The food was excellent and a cut above most of my previous resort experiences in Mexico, Costa Rica, and Hawaii. The current chef, who I believe is new to the role at Toberua in the last few months, is a definite keeper. The menu changed every day with a good variety of meat, fish, and vegetarian options. The tuna poke and bacon wrapped fern dishes were standouts. Zac, the bartender was great. ||The main purpose of the trip was for scuba diving and we chose Toberua in part because of the convenience of having its own dive outfit on site. We did 8 dives over 4 days and though this is not the best time of year to dive in Fiji from a visibility perspective, our dive master made a concerted effort to find the clearest dives for us with good success (see photos). Though Fiji may be better known for the soft coral in the North, I was very impressed by the hard coral formations and the density of fish. We also saw many turtles, white tip reef sharks, and rays. The water was very warm, about 29-30C.||We considered some of the other scheduled activities and did make a trip out to Bird Island to see the red footed boobies and the black and white sea snakes. Apparently they are quite venomous but docile and unable to bite humans. We considered chartering the fishing boat, but ended up deciding against it since we got a taste during the surface intervals between scuba dives. Our guide cast out a line and managed to catch both a Spanish Mackerel and a pretty remarkable 73lb Giant Trevally, which was subsequently incorporated into the dinner menu the following day.||Other quick notes: The island is fully solar powered. The water is safe to drink, and the internet (if you pay for the 5$ per day premium wifi) was more than fast enough to make WhatsApp calls home. I inquired about tipping and was advised to use the tip box in the main office, which seemed a nice way of doing it so that gratuities are split between all staff. There is a resident Parrot named Jack who had much to say and would occasionally come to the terrace to join us for breakfast.||10/10. Worth a return trip.
