Amazing experience. My fiancé and i became members. My favorite wine was "liquid love" my fiancé's favorite was "dream weaver" and they have a nice little seating area outside. The only downside is they don't have actual food, only little cheese snack boxes with crackers.

My recent visit to Tobin James was exceptional, reminding me why I've been a member for a few years now. Having the opportunity to taste with Justin added a personal and authentic touch to the experience. He also pretty knows everyone in town in the industry, kind of a younger OG, of Paso! His passion for winemaking and deep knowledge of the family's vineyard history, made each sip more meaningful. The welcoming atmosphere at Tobin James makes you feel like part of the family. Whether you're a seasoned oenophile, or a casual wine enthusiast, this is a must-visit for its fantastic, approachable wines, warm hospitality, and great storytelling. This place is lots of fun!

Google
First time at Tobin James and our first stop in Paso. We had a wonderful experience and Andrew made it even more enjoyable! The wines are great, the atmosphere is welcoming, and every staff member was awesome! They truly lived up to their great reviews. I would totally recommend going here if you want good wine and a warm and inviting experience! I was having such a great time I forgot to take any photos of the wines. Also, as a side note- the little birdie wine topper is a must! It chirps when you pour 🐦

Google
Tobin James winery is a Gem in Paso Robles. We tried varieties of Reserve and Red wines. All tasted very distinct and loved them all. A big shout out to Donna, she took great care of us. Vibe of the place makes it extraordinary. Specially loved the bar table decor. Would highly recommend this winery in central coast.

Google
A must visit on your wine tasting trip! Great atmosphere, friendly staff and amazing wines across the board. While the trend in Paso seems to be to raise tasting fees, increased bottle prices and higher bottle limits to wave tasting fees, TJ has kept their prices on the ground. If you want a really great atmosphere and wines that are very reasonable, this is the place to visit!

Came to explore Paso Robles for our anniversary and stopped here. Long story short, we're now members and the entire crew here was amazing. Special shout out to Renee and the gentleman that let me look at the challenge coins/military stuff. Very cool to see as a fellow vet of OIF.

We didn’t make an appointment and just last minute decided to stop by and buy wine. We came at 5pmish (they closed at 6) and they graciously let us in! We were able to sample 3 before buying their moscato! It was sooo good :0) And the lady was very friendly but I unfortunately forgot her name. Their main room is huge and the bathroom was really clean! I would come back here with an appointment.

Yelp
Excellent and fun wine tasting experience with our tasting Gide, Gaetano! We got to try MANY different wines and he was a hoot! Very knowledgeable and entertaining. Everyone working there appears to be really having a good time. I've been told by friends that the Paso Robles region produces their favorite red wines. This was our only stop but will agree based upon this. The tasting room and wine shop is spacious and well appointed. We stood at the bar for our tasting but there are seats and tables too.

Yelp
Title: Unforgettable Girls' Weekend Kickoff at Tobin James Cellars! We couldn't have asked for a better start to our girls' weekend than our visit to Tobin James Cellars! From the moment we arrived, we were excited for a memorable experience--and thanks to our amazing host Donna, it was just that and more. Donna was a delight! She welcomed us with such warmth and brought out a fantastic selection of wines, including some of her personal favorites, which made the tasting even more special. Her stories of life as a country girl added a charming and personal touch to our experience, making us feel right at home. Each story and each glass made the day all the more enjoyable! The atmosphere at Tobin James was the perfect backdrop for a fun and relaxed girls' day, and Donna's enthusiasm and hospitality made it an unforgettable experience. Highly recommend for anyone looking to make special memories with friends--thank you, Tobin James Cellars, and thank you, Donna!

Yelp
Great experience. Had a reservation and was immediately walked in. Donna was our server, she was beyond great. Answered all the questions our group had. The experience would not have been the same with out her. Plenty of parking. Great prices.

Yelp
Well we did it. We visited Tobin James Winery and Blake did not disappoint. He was very welcoming and had a wonderful personality with charm added. He was most generous with the requested pours and wanted to show us all around the making of the wines. With our reservation he had a couple of cheese trays as we were special guests visiting. The tasting room is beautiful with gorgeous woodwork and many items that make a tasting room welcoming. Blake made the whole experience of wine tasting fun!

Yelp
I have been a member here since 2020 and was finally able to go. Best of all I went specifically for an event. I did go prior since I wanted to buy wine. Their setup was a bit different because they had the winery set up for the event but was still open before it started. It was still a very fun experience. I got to try wines I had never had before, since my shipment doesn't include them. It was nice to be able to try ones I typically don't get, which are mainly their low cost wines but still taste so good. Everyone who served us when we went were very knowledgeable and sweet. They are not stingy on their pours either. Whatever we wanted to try and taste they had and it was amazing. The event was so fun! I always receive flyers about them so I was really happy I was finally able to go and it was worth it. Can't wait to go back for more wine and for another event.

Yelp
Justin, Charlene and Blake were amaaazing. It was gloomy and rainy and we were expecting to just buy a bottle or two for our friends but their expertise and genuine friendly attitude had us stay longer. We were lucky to stop by when all three were here. We would recommend this place to out friends back home :)

Yelp
Great time in Paso Robles! This was our first time staying in the guest suites they have for the James Gang Members. It was clean, cozy, comfortable and just enough littles extras to make for a wonderful two day stay! The wine tasting of course was fantastic! The staff were wonderful and very welcoming. Thank you Tobin James for the great time!

Yelp
I recently visited Tobin James Winery as part of a winery excursion in Paso Robles, and it is one of my favorite stops. The tasting experience here was incredibly personable, memorable, and affordable! Atmosphere: We arrived on a Sunday morning with a reservation for our group of 6 people. The winery's interior is unlike any other I've seen. Neon lights, mirrors, and vibrant colors give it a rustic yet fun vibe, reminiscent of a themed brewery. As the morning turned into afternoon, the place grew quite busy. Tasting Experience: The tasting fee was $20 per person, but this fee is waived if you purchase a $20 bottle of wine. Our group opted for the $20 Charisma "Dessert Blend" wine, which had a unique bottle design. Getting a bottle of wine and multiple flights for just $20 is an incredible deal. We sat around a round bar, and the tasting menu offered a wide selection of wines. While you can officially select six wines, our exceptional server went above and beyond by offering additional wines based on our preferences. Service: Our server was outstanding. She carefully selected the order of our chosen wines to ensure the best pairing and even provided additional wines that suited our individual palates. Her detailed explanations covered everything from the aroma to the taste of each wine. She even demonstrated how to assess the wine's color by pouring the perfect amount into the glass and rolling it on its side without spilling--an impressive feat. One of the highlights was how she made sure that everyone, including the non-wine drinkers in our group, felt included. She offered a delicious sparkling grape juice option for the one person who didn't drink wine, which was a thoughtful gesture. Overall, Tobin James Winery impressed me with its unique atmosphere, excellent service, and great value. The attention to detail in both the tasting experience and customer care stood out. I highly recommend this winery to anyone visiting Paso Robles.

Yelp
Quality/Quantity - My favorite tasting was the Syrah for $22 each, so we bought a few bottles. Just read that you are known for your Zinfandels, if you are following you know I belong to a few wineries that focus on Zinfandels. I can't believe I did not taste this... Guess I just have to come back. :) They had some cheese plates and small snacks in the coolers. And because the wine festival was this upcoming weekend, at one time, a chef came out with a bite food she was practicing. It was really good. I think it was applesauce and cranberry puree on a small piece of bread topped with blue cheese. It was even warm! My daughter really enjoyed it and wanted more but she left. Atmosphere - 71 acres of vineyards. What an interesting cool space. I actually prefer the outdoor spaces. See pictures. But also had cool indoor decor, see pictures. Even the bathroom had cool decor, see picture. The inside is okay, but with the 3 bars, it felt very "commercialized" as if they squeezed so many people in to make as much $$ as possible. I know, it is a business... I did appreciate the 1860's Brunswick mahogany bar. If I did not have SO many Tommy Bahama shirts already, I would have bought more... Good selection and good themes. I also like the fact that many of the shirts also had the Tobin James logo. 3 huge indoor bars, one outdoor bar. There is an upstairs, but I did not go up as we got here late and they were closing soon. Small arcade that no one comes for, LOL. I guess if you brought kids with you...? Private guest house. Open 7 days a week from 10am to 6pm. Service - 5 stars. Rushed out of Napa without really hitting any wineries. But today was our first day in Paso Robles, and I did not know my travel schedule so I did not make an appointment. The front hostess squeezed us in, thank you. 1 hour tasting with 6-8 wines. Amanda was our pourer and she was very patient and generous. Price - $50 + generous (cash) tip. FYI - When we got to SLO Costco, they also sold Tobin James wines there (much cheaper), but I am sure different bottles...? But we are also paying for the experience. :) Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 1993. 1996 - Added partners and winemakers, Lance and Claire Silver.

Yelp
Really great tasting experience! We came here near the end of the day, and it was not crowded. Got a lot of attention from the staff, and the wines were great! I will put this on a list of wineries to come back to you.

Yelp
It's about a ten minute drive east of Paso on 46. We took the back road instead but also got there quickly in Mother's Day 2024 afternoon. My #1 favorite wine is Dream Weaver but I had never made it out to the winery. Today was the day I checked it off my bucket list. My boyfriend was our designated driver and my 2 adult kids were with us. Myself I really only like sparkling and white wines, not dry so no Chardonnay and my kids don't like that either. We tasted a lot of wines. Our server was really funny and helpful. We laughed a lot. We bought a couple bottles of wine after the tasting BTW tasting used to be free here since it's quite a drive out of town, but it's $20 each now, but they waive it if you buy a bottle of wine. For $20 you get 1 hour of tastings. I would do it again ! We had fun! The bathrooms are worth noting. Very large. Many stalls. You enter without having a door, it's like an airport type where you just walk in and around the corner. It was very clean and the toilets are automatic. Very nice! There are no outdoor tables so that's something I would change. Outdoor tables with shade would be nice. It's really just a parking lot out there except for a strange large brick BBQ area that looks like Gnomes or Trolls would live there. I would change it. It's over designed. Simplify it. In closing. I cannot ever get enough Dream Weaver sparkling wine. I love it. Not dry, easy drinking without being sweet.

Yelp
Loved it. Love the wines. Love our Educator, Donna. Didn't love the inside decor, feels like the 80's with lots of oaks, walnut, and burgandy walls. We got the wine flight for $20, and all were good. It was free with a bottle purchase, and of course, the one I liked most was $34, and my lady, $32. Still worth every penny for this experience. It's located east on Hwy 46 (towards Bakersfield), and few miles out...but my eyes have been opened...there's lots of wineries! Yes! Now, who's pouring?

Yelp
This is my second time going to Tobin James. I was looking to add some Zinfandels to my cellar and Tobin James had several. The tasting room had old west vibes and feels a bit touristy, but nice. I tasted several wines including Zinfandels, GSM and petit. I really enjoyed Fat Boy zin. Nice and jammy. The server did a good job finding wines to his clients taste.

Yelp
AWARENESS: Each year, Tobin James host a party where one can buy a ticket to gain access to dozens of food vendors and both wine and beer tastings. This event has become a yearly get together for my friends and I. NARRATIVE: Tobin James Cellars is an awesome winery. Like I mentioned above, they host and annual event with dozens of foods, wines and beer and several live bands. This years event was dynamite! All of the foods I sampled from the many venders was plateful and tasty. The beers I sampled were good too but, the wines... The wines Tobin James offered were fantastic! SCENE: The yearly event at Tobin James Cellars cost around $100 dollars per person but, its money well spent. The winery is located in the city of Paso Robles and can't be missed from highway 46. RECOMMENDATION(S): I would highly recommend hitting the yearly event, even if your not a wine drinker. The food alone is worth the price of admission.

Yelp
I finally made it back here after several years and stopped in for a tasting. There must've been a change in management. The tastings were $20 unless you bought a bottle now. So I tried 5 wines figuring I would be walking home with at least _one_ bottle. Nope. It was awful. But between paying $20 and walking away empty-handed (for just the tastings) and paying $20 and walking away with a bottle, I decided even a not so good wine is better than nothing. In the end, the bottle I walked home with (the best of the five I tasted), was still so bad that I added mulling spices to it just to be able to drink the rest of it. Will not be back unless a friend drags me. Too bad as I so enjoyed my first visit.

Yelp
I heard a lot of good things about this winery. But sadly I cannot recommend this one. I liked not loved the small vibe and old cowboy theme. But our server had not so positive things to say about a winery we are members at and talked trash about another winery in town. The wines we tasted were not that good compared to other wineries we visited. Even though most of the wine prices were reasonable we did not like anything we were served. But hey that's just my opinion. Everyone has different tastes and this one was not one I enjoyed.

Elizabeth A.

Yelp
Service was wonderful. Super friendly staff and wine was good. They gave us a discount just getting engaged so we bought 3 bottles which was perfect for our trip home

Caitlin M.

Yelp
We were helped by Char and she was AMAZING !!!! She personalized our experience for each person in our party and made us feel comfortable, especially as newbies when it comes to wine. The winery was beautiful and "homey" and the people were amazing. The wine was delicious and Char did a great job of describing each wine in a way that a beginner could understand. If you find yourself at Tobin James, ask for Char!

Robert D.

Yelp
I can't say enough good things about my wife and I's experience. We reserved a wine tasting spot and despite showing up early, we were served effectively right away. Our "guide" for lack of a better word was very friendly, informative, and helpful in understanding the different wine offerings they have, pairings, etc. Our favorite wine was the Liquid Love, and the "Toby-tini" they made us - top to bottom our experience was impeccable. We can't wait to go back next time we go Wine Tasting, bravo Tobin James team!

Rhonda F.

Yelp
One of my favorite wineries in Paso Robles. They are well staffed and busy. Lots of fun people to visit with. The grounds are fabulous with lots of cozy as well as group seating areas. A place to park your RV for the night and a cottage you can rent if you're a club member. The wines are great! The tastings are reasonably priced and go toward the purchase if you buy wine. We walked out with 3 cases! Stocked up! A wide variety of Tommy Bahama shirts, my hubby's favorite! Lovely Tobin James jewelry and women's signature clothing. We chose a charcuterie plate and took our wine to our chosen veranda, with music playing and enjoyed the afternoon.

Yelp
Visited as part of a Paso Robles wine tour! We arrived with a group of 45 and were guided to an outdoor tasting area. There were 2 servers who were knowledgeable and diligent. We were served 6 wines of our choice with Cabernet and Petite Sirah being my top picks. The inside had old western vibe decor. Great wine tasting experience.

Regina F.

Yelp
Shelly was amazing!!! Treated my hangover with a mimosa type cocktail. Turned a beer drinker into a zin drinker! Can't say enough wonderful compliments about this winery! Drink Laugh Live at Tobin James!

Rheall R.

Yelp
First trip to Tobin was a success! We left with a wine club membership, a case of wine, and a great experience. The best part of all was Blake's service. He was fun engaging and very knowledgeable. I live in Temecula and am excited about a trip back to Paso soon to enjoy Tobin James again.

Daniel L.

Yelp
Tobin james cellar had a woodsy Nashville vibe in there. Tastings here were 20 bucks for plenty of tastings and the one tender was fabulous. We got to try a lot and she also mixed a port with one of the wines and it was great. I generally don't like wines and learn that you can mix the port to make it taste better. if you buy here, there were 20 bucks for free so why not. Good value decent wines will be back recommend.

Renee B.

Yelp
Service has always been great whenever we have come for tastings, as a club member we try and come wine tasting a least every 2-3 months. We came in the Tuesday afternoon and Marco was our sommelier, he was the most educational we've had about Tobin wines and made our experience so much fun! Marco definitely made our wine tasting a memorable one, thank you Marco!

Sarah S.

Yelp
Every time I've stopped at Tobin James has been a great experience with delicious wine! This is my favorite winery not only because the wine is great but because the staff are always friendly and fun. Today we were happy to have Gaetano as our sommelier, as have had him before and is always entertaining and personable! We prefer red wine and were really pleased with the tasting selection provided for $20 each person. The $20 tasting fee is waived if you purchase $20 of wine, which wasn't difficult for us to figure out. Especially at the end of our tasting where G poured the Late Harvest Zin and Sparkling Dream Weaver together.. omg we were sold! We purchased those two wines, the moscato (which was equally as wonderful with the Dream Weaver) and the Zinfandel Ballistic. I highly recommend this winery!

Donna G.

Yelp
I have been to the Tasting room multiple times over the years,... It never disappoints me, or my Friends. We always have the time of our lives, and often meet new people that become friends !! Of course We love their wine , FAT BOY , my favorite , and the Staff?? Well, I have never been treated so well !! They are always so welcoming ,and ready to serve a sample ,and tell us all about the wines with genuine smiles !! If I visit Paso Robles, which is often, I always stop in to replenish my supply .. thanks to all at the winery for such great times !! Sincerely, D. Goebel of Redding

Teco-mac M.

Yelp
We really liked all the wines here and the service was top notch. Very nice atmosphere too. We enjoyed their wines so much that we joined their wine club. Can't wait for our first shipment!

Alex F.

Yelp
Best wine tasting experience I have ever had! We have been to numerous wineries in California over the past decades, and this place tops the bill. They were packed with people, even on the Easter holiday, and yet our experience was stellar. At the root of what makes this place, so good is the fact that the tasting fee applies to wine purchases. And, they really seemed to want to give you a winetasting experience, where you explore yourself the variety of their wines rather than purchase a flight, and sit there, and slowly drink it -- as is the model in most places.

Kathleen C.

Yelp
Great experience and lovely atmosphere! The staff is extremely kind snd helpful. The wine and the staff are the reasons I will always make Tobin James a stop when I'm in Paso. Highly recommend if you are in the area!

Andrea N.

Yelp
One of the best tasting rooms I've been to! For $20, you can sample as many wines as you want to on their list. But if you buy a bottle, the fee is waived. (I doubt you'll have trouble finding one that you like). Its fun being able to stand at the bar & try whatever you like at your own pace. We ended up with the moscato, petit syrah & notorious Cabernet. Very delicious wines! Veronica & Richard were so knowledgeable about the wines & had some fun facts about the winery too. I'll definitely come back to try more of the wines soon!

Zeev C.

Yelp
Great ambiance. A little different from the typical Paso winery. The service was a lot of fun and the wines among the best we have tried.

Christine W.

Yelp
Very fun and casual atmosphere We had a great server who chatted with us for a long time.

Shannel G.

Yelp
While visiting Paso Robles we found this place on Trip Advisor. We called in and they let us make a reservation for two for an hour before. Score! We were paired with Lolita, who was extremely knowledgeable about the wines and Paso Robles in general. She gave us tons of recommendations for food places near our airbnb. Her service was absolutely outstanding. The winery looks like an old saloon and was definitely a casual vibe. We felt super comfortable there the entire time. We planned this trip before I found out I was pregnant, so I was unfortunately unable to partake in the tastings. However, they poured me a complimentary glass of grape juice in a wine glass, to make me feel like I was able to partake. The grape juice was so good we left with a bottle. The tasting itself was an hour long and my husband enjoyed all of Lolita's recommendations. We will absolutely return after our little one is born! She let us know that it is kid friendly.

Kristin B.

Yelp
We had a great experience at this winery. Our server Blake was knowledgeable about wine and fun to chat with. They have a nice retail space with lots of items to purchase. The restroom was clean. And their wines are really good.

Claire R.

Yelp
I cannot recommend this winery enough. Came here on a birthday trip with my friends who had recommended this spot for a tasting. We had a blast. Pours are generous and catered to your wine preferences. I love sweet/dessert wines and I tried maybe 6 or 7 different wines that fit my palette. Every wine was absolutely delicious. The staff was fun and friendly. We had a great time and it kicked off the trip on a positive. I wish it was closer and cannot wait to go back. If you want to go wine tasting in the Paso Robles area this spot is a MUST. Great for large groups, fun/casual atmosphere, affordable and tasty wines...you have to go!

Adriana D.

Yelp
Good wine and good times at Tobin James Cellars! They had a great selection of wines to taste, and we left with 3 bottles.

Amanda B.

Yelp
First time visiting on a wine tour with 17 girls this was our last stop which I was most excited for. we were welcomed with attitudes from the two older ladies running the bar we were told to quiet down within seconds of walking in and treated horribly. I will never go back to this place nor want to after this experience. We were there to have fun and have a good first experience and Tobin James was not the place for that! Don't waste your time!

Henry S.

Yelp
First time at Tobin James and my wife and I had a good time. The staff was really knowledgeable and friendly and took the time to explain to us the different variety of Wines they offer. They give you about an hour for the tastings and 4-6 different wines to choose from. All the Wines we tasted were delicious and the variety offered was excellent. The inside is really nice it's a western saloon type atmosphere with a casual type bar setting. The grounds are well kept and nice, super convenient with plenty of parking and easy access right off the 46. If it's your first time Wine tasting and want something simple and casual or not sure you even like Wine give Tobin James a try you won't be disappointed and I bet you become a Wine lover.

Terri E.

Yelp
Char and Tobin James Wines Never Disappoints! Have to give a whole-hearted 2 thumbs up to our experience today wine tasting! The BEST ever, thanks to Char and her wonderful customer service and personality. We are members(because their wine is wonderful), but don't get to frequent it often as we have moved out of state, and have to say that it is always a fun time, but today was outstanding! If you are lucky enough to have Char as your wine "steward", then you will have the most AMAZING time tasting their fine wines! Looking forward to our purchase shipment today, as well as, our Fall membership shipment!

Jody S.

Yelp
Everyone is so stinkin nice here! From calling a couple times prior to our visit to they day of our wine tasting experience. All the employees were so happy & friendly. The wine is delicious! We had such a great time that we joined the wine club. We can't wait to go back! We especially loved the employee photo bomb from Veronica...see pic. Loved her!

Michelle H.

Yelp
I recently went to an event here with some friends, we had such a great time! I've always loved their wine but the events are top-notch!! All the staff were very friendly and knowledgeable, the atmosphere was welcoming and comfortable. I will always recommend Tobin James Cellars for wine tasting but you definitely have to attend one of their events, you won't be disappointed!

Terri K.

Yelp
Belly up to their bar & get ready to have fun. Came with party of 6 without reservations on Friday at 4:45. They give you an hour which is plenty of time. Feels like you're in the old west. Here's the best part...you can have as many tastings of as many of their wines that you want in that hour. All for $20 & it is waived if you spend $20. So yes thanks I'll get a bottle. Plenty of variety! Friendly fun service. Wines are fair-good in my opinion but the experience was 5 star.

Kenny R.

Yelp
We love Tobin. We make sure and stop every trip out here. We've had very fun times with all the different servers. GSM and Justin are some of our Favs. This time we had Robby and what a great guy to spend some time with. Very knowledgeable about all the wines and fun all around. Congrats on the wedding Robby. See you all on our next trip. Don't forget to ask for them to show you the Justin Roll! Kenny & Jenny

Sandi C.

Yelp
Had a fabulous wine tasting! They're dog friendly. It's a plus when you're traveling with a pet or a service dog. They were amazing with my service dog, Duke. He loved the treats they gave him. The wines are absolutely fabulous! So much so, we joined the wine club. I can't wait to get my first shipment! We purchased a few bottles of wines and other merch. I couldn't leave without buying a bag of treats and a squeaky plush Tobin James wine bottle for Duke.

Miss T.

Yelp
Richard - best host, ever! Thank you for an incredible experience. My wife and I arrived yesterday around 5 PM and did an outdoor tasting with him. He let me taste a gazillion wines. I ended up buying six bottles. Richard was charming, knowledgeable, easy-going, and just a pleasure to be around. He even made reservations for us at an incredible restaurant when we casually mentioned possibly going there for dinner. Yes, the wine was great, but this kind of excellent customer service is what will surely have us return. Solid wine, friendly, non-pretentious service, generous tasting...What's not to love? Five stars and highly recommended!

Sheri C.

Yelp
Great service! Always treated by family, especially by the manager Justin. The events are my favorite, highly recommend to attend! Become a member, you won't regret it.
