Toc Hostel Madrid, a Design Boutique Hotel Madrid, Spain

"Toc Hostel Madrid is located in central Madrid, just 120 metres from Puerta del Sol Square. This stylish, modern hostel offers smart, air-conditioned rooms with free WiFi. At Toc Hostel you can book private rooms or a bed in a shared dormitory. The rooms and dorms feature attractive décor with parquet floors and light wood furniture. The property has a bar where they hold themed parties, and there is a games room where you can play pool for free. Staff at the 24-hour reception can provide information about what to see and do in Madrid. There are numerous shops, bars and restaurants in the surrounding streets, and Plaza Mayor Square is 250 metres away." - My Boutique Hotel (en)

Such a centre location, perfect for sightseeing but occasionally noisy at night. There can't be many hostels to rival this one for its interior, a stunning 19th century building with wooden staircase, old centre lift and painted ceilings in the bar area. Rooms were very clean and looked quite new. No spring bed bunks! The breakfast choice was substantial. Make this your stay in Madrid!

-Lockers are not under the bed. İt's middle of the room..and it's not located to near your bed. They are not numbered by the location. so you must invade someone's private space while you are checking your locker. -The beds doesn't have a curtains. First time I saw it like that. -The Shower's door are glass which you can see through. -The room's doesn't have air-conditioning system. So sometimes smells odor. +Amazing location. +Helpful workers +Everywhere is so clean +Elevator

We had a nice stay, highly recommended for its location. A big thank to Frank, the Flour Manager for his friendly and kind attitude. Also, the girls at reception were helpful, always smiling and ready to assist. The room temperature was quite hot, and although comfortable, it wasn’t as clean as we expected.

Great location, really helpful and kind staff - especially Frank (floor manager) and the girls on the reception! Shared room could be cleaned a bit more thoroughly. Lockers and warm temperature inside the room were a plus. Thank you!

The 6 bed dormitory room is quite spacious and each bunk bed has own privacy. Would be good if could add curtains. The bathroom is noisy whenever someone uses it. Might be better if the sliding door closes all the way. Heating is nice. It’s warm and cozy at night (I stayed in 3rd week November).Area is very nice, it’s the center of Madrid.

Staff were very friendly and always present. Hostel was very clean, also shared rooms with incorporated shared bathroom were clean. I slept well on the comfortable beds. Breakfast was good and there was always a safe and pleasant atmosphere everywhere.

The location is the best area. Easy to get food, shopping and trasportation. But please check every 2 hours of the soap in the bath room. And please always change the linen and bedding (blanket) every new guest check in. Over all are good and recomended.

TOC Hostel sits right in the centre of Madrid which means you step outside and immediately collide with history tapas and confused tourists. Location is almost unfair, Plaza Mayor is minutes away and the city basically does not let you sleep early. The place feels modern clean and well organized like a hostel that went to business school. Big common areas a bar downstairs and enough social energy to accidentally make friends even if you planned not to. Rooms are tidy and beds are comfortable enough to forgive the fact that you are sharing oxygen with strangers. It is lively especially at night so this is not a monastery retreat. If you want silence look elsewhere. If you want convenience atmosphere and a hostel that feels more polished than most apartments this works very well. Madrid was founded in the 9th century and somehow TOC managed to squeeze itself right into the middle of it all. Not cheap but you pay for location and sanity. A solid choice if you want Madrid at full volume without sleeping on the street.

Yelp
We didn't love this place, which is centrally located near major tourist destinations, though absolutely lacking good brunch, coffee, bars, or any other non-sanitized experiences. For the first two nights, we stayed in the six-bed room, which had one shared bathroom. This was nice compared to having bathrooms in a hall shared by more people, but the process was inefficient, and I felt like it got cleaned less than a hallway bathroom would. The people were menaces, which you can't blame the hostel for, but they were around at bizarre hours, hacking and howling in the bathroom, stealing towels, and leaving a mess. We moved to a private bedroom for the final night, and the front desk was unfazed, never asking why. The private bedroom was affordable and, frankly, night and day; I had no issue with that. Wi-Fi across the property was poor. I appreciated that towels were free (unlike other hostels, including the TOC in BCN). Air conditioning was SO lacking in the shared room but good in the private room. In the shared room, street noise was unbearable; in the private room, it was nonexistent. It was a mixed experience across the board, and I think it depends on what room you choose and who you are with (if applicable). On an administrative level and aesthetic perspective, I had no issues.

Yelp
Everything about this place is great. Location, design, staff, bar, amenities. We were hesitant about staying in hostels on this trip, but we were so wonderfully pleased by Toc. We booked a private room with it's own bathroom. Suitable for all ages, we saw families, young single travelers, couples. A definite must if you are looking for something affordable, clean, and ideally located in Madrid.

Yelp
Miserable experience dealing with them. I was supposed to go to another hostel, The Hat, but they were having plumbing issues and sent me to this place. They paid for my room, and all I needed to do was check in. TOC insisted this was not true, and charged me for the room, it being 3 am when I checked in, I figured I would just cover the bed and straighten it out with The Hat the next day. The next day I sent an email to both parties explaining what happened, TOC reimbursed me, but later that day, they decided to charge me 600$USD for some reason. this nearly overdrew my account, and prevented me from buying a train ticket I needed. When I brought this to their attention, they cancelled the charge, and acted as if they didn't do it, and then with disregard as if it were my fault. This forced me to buy a much more expensive train ticked when the money was finally returned to me. It is staffed by unprofessional, rude, unhelpful young men.

Yelp
A happy surprise! Brilliant hostel with a whole floor dedicated to a stylish cafe/bar serving buffet breakfasts for 5 eur( not cheap, but all is friendly, lots to choose from, outsranding interior). Stays open after midnight! Loved it.
